Chapter 455 - 454: We’re Lost
Chapter 455: Chapter 454: We’re Lost
South Grant looked down, wanting to see what she had kicked. As she lowered her head, she saw the gray-white thing at her feet under the moonlight.
At this moment, South Grant screamed, and Nathan Foster thought she encountered something. He pulled her over and jumped back with her in his arms.
Then he saw a skeleton where South Grant had just been standing.
Nathan Foster hadn’t noticed it earlier, and as South Grant walked, she had kicked the skeleton apart.
Nathan Foster wrapped one arm around South Grant’s waist and used the other to hold her in his arms, gently patting her.
"It’s okay, I’m here."
It took a while before South Grant regained her composure.
Nathan Foster saw that South Grant was feeling better, so he released her and walked toward the skeleton.
At this moment, South Grant dared not let go of him, tightly gripping his hand. Seeing Nathan Foster go over, she followed him.
Nathan Foster walked over, stood in front of the skeleton that South Grant had scattered, and looked at it for a while. Then Nathan Foster stared ahead for a moment:
"Follow me."
By now, South Grant was at a loss; Nathan Foster wanted to move forward, so she could only follow.
After walking for about five minutes, South Grant felt increasingly dizzy. All these cacti looked the same, spiraling around them. Could Nathan Foster really find the way back?
The skeleton they encountered earlier had scared South Grant. Although she was prepared this time, the pile of things that appeared in front of her still startled her again.
Under the moonlight, one could see the ground covered with skeletons, at least a dozen of them. And this was just one spot; there could be more further in.
What exactly was Nathan Foster here for?
Nathan Foster stood watching for a long time, then kicked a piece of rubble with his foot. The stone landed near the skeletons, and South Grant was still wondering what Nathan Foster was doing.
Suddenly, the ground where the skeletons lay seemed to collapse, and the sands quickly sank down.
The skeletons were swallowed up, and Nathan Foster grabbed South Grant and ran back.
"Hurry up!"
South Grant, in a daze, felt the night’s experiences were like a dream.
She was pulled by Nathan Foster, desperately running out, cursing inwardly, thinking, what a thrilling eighteen-year-old night.
After running for about ten minutes, the sounds behind them gradually stopped.
South Grant looked back; the collapsed spot appeared as if it were a dream.
"Uncle, what exactly is this place? What are you doing here?" South Grant couldn’t suppress her curiosity.
Nathan Foster had a stern expression on his face and did not answer South Grant’s question, only looking ahead at the path.
South Grant had a gut feeling at this moment, cautiously asking Nathan Foster:
"Uncle, you aren’t lost, are you?"
"Mm."
"..."
Idiot!
Everywhere around was damn cacti, with no visible path in any direction. South Grant wanted to throttle Nathan Foster at that moment.
His short hair turned, messy and disheveled, as he chuckled.
"Just kidding."
Only then did South Grant breathe a sigh of relief, continuing to follow Nathan Foster.
But as they walked further, Nathan Foster’s expression grew graver, and South Grant sensed something was wrong.
"Uncle, what’s going on?"
"The path is not the same as when we came in." Nathan Foster said in a deep voice.
Upon hearing this, South Grant was almost scared to death; Nathan Foster’s words clearly meant: we are lost.
