Chapter 56: PLAYING WITH FIRE
Chapter 56: PLAYING WITH FIRE
LAURA
It was not confirmation I sought after, but an excuse.
An excuse to touch each other and not feel all so guilty.
Tristan was right. I was so wet for him, leaking onto the table, aching for more, arching closer to take it.
A moan ripped from my gut as he dragged his fingers up my swollen lips and stopped on my stomach. Then he moved the heel of his hand back towards my pussy and rocked back and forth against my clit. It felt so good, driving me insane. My body hadn’t felt this good in so long, and it excited me what more could be in store if I just surrendered completely to this passion that burned between us.
I felt his breath on my ear again, tickling me, making the hairs on my skin rise in anticipation. "You better stop me now, Laura. Or I’m going to take you right on this table."
The filthy words said in the calmest voice sent my heart racing. I was tempted to let him go on, but what would that make me? Shameless. Powerless.
I had to reclaim my power.
So as he put his hands on my waist and pulled me close, I lifted my hands with the last resolve left in me, and shoved him back.
"Enough." Breathless, I eased off the table and walked briskly back to my seat, biting back a moan each time my pussy rubbed against my slick thighs. "We were just testing the theory, remember?"
Tristan uttered a groan of agony, driving his fingers through his hair. "Goddd, Laura. You want this." He looked like he couldn’t understand what seemed to be the problem...why I was holding back.
I thought he was stupid if he did not know.
I pulled out my chair, straightened my spine, and sat down. "Let’s get back to business, shall we?"
Tristan walked back to his seat, shaking his head. "That is over. We should finish dinner." There was a tightness in his voice that made me smile. The tease was starting to get under his skin. Poor thing. Thought he’d last longer than this.
He really seemed to have the potential. But I guess a billionaire became powerless at the mercy of a green-eyed woman he had a one-night stand with five years ago.
We ate in silence for the next few minutes. Until either of us finally realized we’d lost appetite and couldn’t sit here any longer with this sexual tension, poking around our plates.
Tristan dropped his fork with a clatter and drained his wine glass. Then he wiped his mouth with a napkin and finally looked at me. "You’ll be contacted with further details for the Milan shoot."
I didn’t respond right away. I picked up my own glass, instead, and took my time sipping from it, watching him over the rim. "Don’t get all bristly on me now. You enjoyed the game, did you not?"
He leaned back in his seat and watched me with blazing blue eyes, his ripped arm reaching down towards his pants. "All you did was give me a boner that has refused to go down."
"Aww." I pouted, making a pity face at him.
He rolled his eyes and pushed the alert button on the table.
A waitress came over in seconds, hovering next to me. "How can I help you, ma’am?"
Tristan waved her over. "I’ll get the bill."
I watched him as he ran through the transaction with a stoic expression. And moments later, he tipped her a hundred dollar bill and whispered something that made her blush.
Green heat licked the walls of my chest, threatening to light me up in flames. I didn’t think he was such a flirt.
As the waitress walked away smiling, I shot to my feet and grabbed my purse. "I guess we’re done here."
He didn’t say a word as I turned and stormed off. I just heard him stand quietly and follow behind me.
"I’ll give you a ride home," he said as we took the escalator down.
"No, thanks." I reached for the door handle and turned halfway to him. "I found my way here. I can find my way home too."
That was all I said to him before I pulled the door open and stepped into the cold night air.
It hit me like a slap in the face, biting and merciless. I immediately regretted not having sorted a personal means of transportation. I had been too busy losing myself in the bliss of Tristan’s fingers, I forgot that I would have to get home afterwards. I would have booked a ride while we were still there.
I thought about giving José a call to have him come pick me up in one of my cars. Then I pulled out my phone and started to dial his number when I felt something warm and hard against my back, alongside the warmth of a thick fabric.
Tristan was behind me, draping his suit jacket against my shoulders. Why did he have to keep getting in my space?
Breathless, I turned to glare at him. "I didn’t ask you to do that."
"You didn’t have to," he said with a serious expression. "You’re obviously cold. Look at you, shivering."
I glance down at the fabric and run my fingers through it, my heart racing with a collision of excitement and gratitude. "I can’t take your jacket."
"You can. And you can always return it." His lips curved in a smirk. "Good reason to get together again."
I scoffed and turned away from him. "Keep dreaming."
"Laura?"
I stopped, but I didn’t turn to look at him. I could almost smell the tension in the air. I didn’t want to have to look into his eyes when he said whatever heavy words he had to unload.
He carried on anyway. "About tonight—"
"It was nothing, Tristan."
"Nothing?" He sounded hurt, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t send a rush of headiness through me.
"I mean, a little game, yeah. But that’s all."
"So it’s nothing more to you?"
"Nope."
He paused for a brief moment. Then he chuckled. "I’m open to the option of exploring if you change your mind."
My heart hammered in my chest. My pussy throbbed needily like a whore. "Well, you must keep your options open, Mr. Pierce."
"You’re really not going to let me give you a ride, are you?"
"Good evening to you." I walked away without looking back.
His voice echoed after me. "Well who’s the hardheaded one now?!"
I was tempted by his offer, true.
But I’d played around with fire long enough. It was time to retreat.
