Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1704: Echoing Arrival-Nepherage

Chapter 1704: Echoing Arrival-Nepherage

*Bing-Bong!*

We interrupt this Chapter, this new book, to inform the reader that these next few arcs are going to be...rather different in terms of format.

Four adventures will be happening simultaneously with each other, across two different continents, technically three.

As such, the writer of this work is going to be pursuing these four adventures from four different perspectives.

Not just allowing me to be omniscient, but giving the characters a chance to narrate for themselves.

At the end of these four adventures, they will coalesce into one grand moment.

Why?

Because one of the oldest truths in the universe is this: nothing is truly isolated.

The disposal of a plastic ring on one side of the globe, can lead to the choking of a turtle on the other.

The melting of snow on the top of a mountain can lead to a landslide further down its slope.

And the decisive actions of a couple of kaijin, will lead to their leader reaching a level of power he can barely understand himself.

And isn’t that something worth waiting for?

Anyways, we will now be returning to our regularly scheduled Chapter.

And we’re going to be starting with the Ragnarockers.

Enjoy.

[Incoming!]

[We’re about to crash!]

[Prepare for landing! We gotta prepare for our second arrival!]

The three of us had been flying through the sky like a cannonball for a little over two days.

We had passed over several mountain ranges, a forest that was home to a dozen different species of toxic-blooded aether beasts, and at least two cities where I swear I heard people confuse for a shooting star.

Eventually, though, we found ourselves flying over the floor of our destination: Echoing Valley.

Or was it Echo Valley?

Regardless, as the three of us approached the ground, we proceeded to separate from one another and reconstitute ourselves in order to properly land.

While we could’ve taken a page out of our Lord’s book and simply crashed into the dirt, I am fairly certain that he has been trying to mitigate the instances of himself performing such a thing.

[Frozen...Road!]

Frosttusk was the first to begin his landing prep, using his abilities to rapidly absorb the heat in the air, and creating for himself a ramp of ice that he proceeded to slide down like he was a giant humanoid bobsled.

Next was Hurricroak.

[Thunder Shout!]

Before she could impact the ground, Hurricroak released a loud, bellowing croak that knocked her back into the air just long enough for her to unfurl her wasp wings and use that to steady herself in the air long enough in order to land.

[Boom, nailed it.]

As for me, well...I took a more practical approach...and did actually take a page out of milord’s book.

[Boulder Body!]

Circulating my internal aether, [Chaos] wasn’t needed for such a simple affair, I enhanced my bulk, body size and density until I could feel myself becoming even heavier than the jade stone that usually composed me.

Due to my sudden change in weight, my trajectory immediately curved downwards and slammed into the ground as hard as...well, a rock.

When the dust settled, I immediately turned off the aether art and jumped out of the hole.

Hurricroak and Frosttusk were already there to greet me.

[Didn’t you just say that you wanted to avoid a crash landing, Nepherage?] Hurricroak asked, a teasing smile plain on her neon blue face.

[That wasn’t a crash landing,] I retorted. [That was falling with style.]

[Riiight,] Hurricroak agreed while rolling her eyes at my retort.

Frosttusk, meanwhile, hadn’t join in on our discussion. He was much more focused on the horizon and the arrival of the second part of our party.

[In...coming...] Frosttusk rumbled in his usually slow cadence. [Need to...make a ramp.]

[Wow, and here I thought that he wouldn’t send the kid flying like us,] Hurricroak commented as she directed her gaze in the same direction as Frosttusk. [I’m actually surprised that the zakos can hold up this long.]

[Agreed...]

Due to a minor oversight and a touch of overly eager behavior, our Lord sent us flying to Echoing Valley before making sure Hakon was a part of the Teleblaster ball.

As such, he had no choice but to use zakos instead of proper kaijin.

In theory, they should work about the same.

In practice...I could see the ball was delicate enough that one good smack would lead to dire consequences. As such, the rest of the Ragnarockers and I had to get to work.

[Is it safe to assume that going up there and catching it isn’t a good idea?] I asked Hurricroak.

[Not unless you want to recreate what happened when you put an invulnerable man in front of a full passenger train,] Hurricroak replied.

[Fair enough.]

Placing my hands to the ground, I channeled my aether into the earth and caused the dirt to harden into stone before forcing them to rise into the shape of a ramp. Assuming the ball of zakos was sturdy enough, then the ramp should be enough to slow the momentum.

If not...well, that’s why Frosttusk and Hurricroak were here.

[Not enough...] Frosttusk rumbled as he prepared his ice jets. [Need to...make the ball...tougher!]

Frosttusk proceeded to release a surprisingly long stream of icy energy that impacted the ball of zakos, but didn’t outright destroy it.

Instead, the cold energy began to coat the ball in a thick layer of ice that made the ball bigger and, supposedly, tougher.

[It’s still coming in at a really high speed,] I said as the growing ball of ice only showed signs of marginally slowing down at best. [Hurricroak?]

[Here I go to save the day~] Hurricroak sang as she busted out her wasp wings and flew up to the travelling ice ball.

Without needing a full-on aether art, she began to release a powerful yet steady, blast of sound that slowed the ice ball by a considerable degree, but not enough to fully knock it out of the air.

Instead, under her musical guidance, the ice ball descended on to my stone ramp and began to lose its kinetic energy as it rolled down it.

At the same time, the ice began to melt until all that was left was the zako ball and it’s one lone human occupant.

[Good job guys,] I said to the zakos. [Feel free to—]

Before I could even finish the sentence, the zakos composing the Teleblaster ball immediately collapsed into a pile, with Hakon being on the very top.

After coming into contact with the zakos, I could feel that they were exhausted by the journey and wanted nothing more than to return to their shrunken states and rest. As for Hakon himself, I could see that his eyes were more or less spinning.

"I think I’m going to throw up now," the young warrior of Stormsinger descent mumbled as he got up from the pile of zakos to try and steady himself on the ground.

He did actually end up throwing up a couple of moments later.

[I think that’s one one of the few things I don’t miss about being mortal,] Hurricroak commented as Hakon continued to throw up his guts. While that was happening, I gathered up the drained zakos and turned them back into marbles, adding them to my arm.

[Make sure to show them the ropes when needed, Ajax.]

In response to my instruction, the zako under my direct command sent back feelings of warmth.

[Good zako.]

"Okay, I think I’m done puking," Hakon said after a couple of moments and between huge gulps of air. "That was...awful. And I’m never complaining about the weirdness of teleportation ever again."

"Understandable," Frosttusk commented in a reassuring tone and a pat on Hakon’s back. "Welcome home, by the way."

"Yeah...yeah..."

Hakon was quiet as he took in the sight of his homeland, a place he never thought he’d be able to see again after being sold as a slave.

But through several twists of fate, he was back and he had us to escort him home.

Well, he was here to help guide us but that was a distinction without a difference...I think.

[Wait, I just realized something important,] Hurricroak piped up, disturbing Hakon’s moment of revelry. [Should we be sticking with our usual forms while we’re here, or should we pretend to be human?]

After posing this question, Hurricroak snapped her fingers and took on her human disguise, a tanned young woman with neon blue hair and the look of a pop star.

"Because I wouldn’t mind taking this form for a spin for a while."

[Probably...smarter...to do...that,] Frosttusk nodded before encapsulating himself in a cloak of icy winds and transforming into an old warrior with a bushy beard.

"Easier...to...explain...to...other... tribes."

[I suppose that’s true,] I nodded. [Very well.]

Clapping my hands together, I summoned a torrent of flames and replaced my rocky body with one of made of soft bones and softer flesh.

Of course, I remembered to cover myself in clothes...despite finding them to be rather unnecessary.

"Alright, with our disguises out of the way, let’s go, shall we?"

"Yes!"

And so began our adventure in the Echoing Valley.
