Chapter 3938: A Twitch! III
Chapter 3938: A Twitch! III
The network of vessels that remained revealed blood cells that defied conventional understandingz they appeared as gray, lifeless Wheels of Existence, suggesting that even in death, the corpse’s circulatory system operated according to principles that transcended understanding.
The archaic air that emanated from the corpse created an atmosphere of wonder mixed with terror.
Its head retained features that might once have been noble or beautiful, though death had transformed them into something terrifying.
The eyes were blacked out, creating endless abysses that seemed to stare into dimensions that existed beyond current reality!
Its hair remained wild and untamed, dark gray strands that held their original configuration despite the complete absence of life!
Every Living Paradox present gazed upon this impossible sight with eyes that shone with mixture of hunger, fear, and desperate hope.
In the heavy silence that followed their collective observation, the voice of Duke Elagabalus echoed across the gathering with the weight of glorious proclamation.
He looked toward Diviticus with an expression that combined respect with calculation, his words carrying implications that would reshape the hierarchy of their entire weavings of existence!
“I do not think my proposition of making Honored Diviticus a member of the council and granting her the rank of Duke will meet with any complaints now. Through her aid, we were able to obtain something we could only envy for eons!”
HUUM!
All eyes turned to regard both the speaker and the subject of his declaration, the magnitude of what had been achieved finally settling into their weavings with proper weight.
Duke Elagabalus smiled toward Diviticus with satisfaction that bordered on pride. “Duke Diviticus, why don’t you be the first to study the corpse that the Coalition of Living Existences has been feeding from all these eons so they could match our power? The rest of the council will call for it to be veiled and hidden away soon!”
Duke Diviticus!
DUKE!
No longer merely Honored, but elevated to one of the highest ranks their weavings could bestow. She might not yet possess the accumulated strength that typically accompanied such position, but the title she now held carried authority that transcended mere power!
She nodded with eyes that shone with anticipation and calm glory.
As she approached the massive corpse, she felt waves of awe and veneration washing over her being.
The corpse lay motionless, yet her very existence pulsed with wonder and interminable glory at simply being in its presence. She moved forward with careful steps until she stood before the massive form, its scale making her feel insignificant despite her newly elevated status.
With trembling hand, she reached out and touched a single finger of the corpse…just the finger alone, which was itself larger than her entire torso.
It should have been something simple, a mere contact between living flesh and dead tissue.
And yet in the next moment, the impossible occurred.
HUUM!
The surface of the corpse instantly began buzzing and trembling!
…!
The finger she had touched twitched once…a single, involuntary movement that lasted no more than a heartbeat.
A twitch. Just one twitch.
Goodness, just one twitch!
But it was so terrifying in its implications that the instant this movement was seen and felt, every Living Paradox present was overwhelmed by primal terror. .
No matter what distinction they held, no matter how much power they had accumulated or how many conflicts they had survived…Prime, Honored, Royal, Duke…every single one scattered into lights of pure panic and fled for their existence.
Instantly!
From observing that one twitch!
They ran with the desperate urgency of beings who had suddenly realized they stood in the presence of something that could erase them from reality without effort!
Light-years disappeared in seconds as they put distance between themselves and the source of their terror, their only thought being escape from whatever force could make a dead Early Creature respond to touch.
Duke Diviticus found herself among those who fled, her newly elevated status providing no protection against the instinctive horror that had seized her Living Existential Authority!
She ran until she was light-years away before managing to stop and look back, her enhanced perception confirming that the twitch had been singular…after she had released contact, the corpse had returned to its previous state of absolute stillness.
“…”
She breathed heavily with shock that made her entire form tremble, her heart pulsing with rhythms that spoke to terror mixed with unprecedented shock.
Slowly, carefully, she began to return, her eyes wide with the knowledge that she had just witnessed something that defied every understanding of existence.
One by one, the thrones of Dukes began to reappear in the distance, their occupants peering from afar with expressions of shock and profound seriousness.
Only when they confirmed that the corpse had returned to complete motionlessness did they dare to approach again, their movements cautious as prey animals checking for predators.
Immense silence followed their gradual return, heavy with weavings that none of them fully understood but all recognized as monumentally significant.
In this moment of utter shock and tension, Duke Elagabalus fixed his gaze upon the still-trembling Diviticus.
His eyes flashed sharply as understanding began to dawn, and he turned to command one of the Honored Living Paradoxes behind him.
“Touch the corpse,” he ordered with stern authority that brooked no argument.
The Honored being was initially hesitant, his earlier terror still fresh in memory, but the duke’s unwavering gaze left no room for refusal.
He approached the massive form….and hesitantly made contact with its surface.
Slowly!
This was how much Living Existences revered and feared Early Creatures!
The moment stretched as every observer held their breath, ready to scatter again at the first sign of movement.
But…nothing happened. Nothing at all.
Duke Elagabalus and others stared in shock as the implications became clear, their collective attention turning toward Diviticus with expressions that mixed awe with growing excitement.
Before anyone could voice their thoughts, she was already floating toward the corpse again, her own curiosity overcoming her earlier terror.
She went forward again and reached out. This time, she touched the toe of the massive foot with deliberate precision.
And once again, the impossible occurred.
HUUM!
A booming flash of terrifying aura erupted from the point of contact as the toe twitched with the same involuntary response that had sent them all fleeing moments before.
Diviticus released contact immediately, her face showing a complex mixture of shock, terror, and exhilaration that spoke to discoveries!
Glorious discoveries!
She turned to look at the other Dukes and Honored Gold, and in their shared expression of fear mixed with tremendous excitement, they all recognized that they had stumbled upon a terrifying finding.
A finding that seemed to be uniquely centered around Duke Diviticus and her interaction with this corpse of an Early Creature!
What was this?! What could they do with this?!
