Chapter 1097: Mystic Tentacle Inheritance
Chapter 1097: Mystic Tentacle Inheritance
Death Tentacle Ruins!
An hour before the Seat of Transcendence revealed itself, in the Grim Region of the ruins, Nirat stared flabbergasted at the sight before him.
Minor Treasure—Akashic Transfer!
There were many before him, each emitting a pillar of light that was now visible to him. The thing that allowed him to observe was the radiance he released.
Originally, it was faint enough to only extend a few metres from himself. However now, it could expand without issues, for a single reason.
Subtle Terrain Domination!
Using it, Wally was controlling the grey sand that was part of the ruin’s floors and was suppressing their effects. Pretty much, he constantly moved them around and prevented them from combining their power as a whole.
A minimum mass of grey sand was necessary to generate a curtain of night. Until then, only its assimilation characteristics would be active. And as its mass increases, the pillar of space above it would turn into the night naturally.
Wally was smoothly preventing that accumulation by splitting the ground into many, distinct packets. And in the brightness, casually walking through all traps without being injured in the slightest were the duo of Brangara and Zhya.
Before them were dozens of pillars of light. All were the Minor Treasures of Akashic Transfer that Nirat possessed.
However, as if they had communicated beforehand, the duo walked past the pillars of light. As they moved, their pace quickened, and soon, they were sprinting.
“Uh…oh,” Wally grimaced a little and began to run too, asking Nirat when he passed by the latter, “You haven’t gone past this point, right?”
“No,” Nirat shook his head and stared at section where gravity was a mess, creating a void without air where projectiles flew nonstop at speeds three to four times the speed of sound. It was an instant death sentence for majority of Free Humans.
In the darkness, it wasn’t possible to observe it. But now, Nirat saw a ring of gravity had been created, in which the projectiles were looping nonstop. It seemed the terrain itself was as such, which was why this trap could exist in perpetuity.
An of course, Wally spent a few minutes to understand it and coolly made changes to the trap to create a door, through which he simply walked through. This stunned Nirat, which was why he ensured to remain within the latter’s Spirit Weapon Range.
“What do you think the core of these ruins hold?” Wally asked as he ran past the Minor Treasures of Linked Transfer. He was interested in the Minor Treasures. However, he couldn’t take the risk in fusing with one without understanding how it might influence him.
Currently, he already had everything he needed. If anything were to happen, it might disrupt his existing training.
’Thankfully, I’ve come prepared.’ He stared at the Mystic Biome Bomb given to him by Zhya. It had a bunch of Quip Zingers inside. With a flash, he released the Mystic Biome Bomb and communicated to it using a Zinger Shriek.
The Mystic Biome Bomb reverted to its actual size and opened an entrance. The Quip Zingers hesitantly walked out and shuddered upon staring at the duo of Nirat and Wally, feeling pressured by the other party’s oozing presence.
“Fuse with one each.” Wally said and watched the Quip Zingers grab the Minor Treasures, fifteen in total. Once they were done, he pointed at the Mystic Biome Bomb in a hurry, “Now, get in.”
The Mystic Biome Bomb shrunk to fist size as Wally strung it to the side of his hip and began running deeper into the Grim Region. He noticed Nirat pacing beside him in silence, with a sullen expression. “Do you regret it?”
“Regret what?” Nirat raised an eyebrow and responded with a question, “You ask as if I had a choice in the matter.”
“Surely you do,” Wally uttered calmly, “The strong do have a choice.”
“It’s something I experienced firsthand…” Wally recalled the figure of the Celestial Boar and retracted his statement, “Scratch that, it’s stupid.”
“The fittest do have a choice.”
Nirat didn’t say anything else and asked, “What do you think he wanted?”
“The man who currently calls himself Brangara.” Nirat asked all of a sudden.
“I am not sure.” Wally frowned, “However, you needn’t concern yourself with him.”
“We intend to…”
B-Boom! BOOM!
Two distinct sounds resounded and was completely dampened by the environment as Wally subconsciously stopped used his Primary Nature.
The first sound was close by, as he kicked the ground and skated forward at subsonic speeds. He noticed Nirat keeping pace without issues. Below the latter’s hands, flickering between the palms and the ground was a pair of Spirit Weapons, a blur even to his senses.
This was pushing Nirat off the ground and moving him at tremendous speeds. Behind Nirat was a trail resembling a railway track. The grey sand in the trail seemed finer than the surrounding grains.
The ruins were a series of terrain creating their own worlds. One of the terrains resembled the Guna Caves and created a gravitational vortex filled with water. Entrance to the next region was in the centre.
Wally created a bubble around himself and blazed through the region to enter the path at the core. It was a long tunnel, made of stone, with sections of lava that flared off intense heat.
Problem with it was that it wasn’t visible, thanks to the curtain of night. Once Wally stepped into the tunnel, the darkness vanished, revealing the lava.
Only then did Nirat notice a faint layer existing between the grey sand and the stone, lava, and everything else part of the place, ’It’s the border!’
The terrain present at Sumatra’s border was present here. Nirat knew it from personal experience, for this border covered all the Sandy Grey Void patches at the foot of the Drenta Vines.
Once the Parute Trees start stabilising the place, the border would naturally form. As the Parute Tree consumes the grey sand, the border gradually closes in on the Sandy Grey Void, until the latter vanishes.
Gradually, the border too vanishes, leaving behind a few of the Parute Trees originally used to control the region’s situation.
A flash of his Spirit Weapon, and Nirat picked up a patch of the border between grey sand and a stream of lava. He layered it and stuck it to the soles of his shoes.
Past the tunnel was a mountain, surrounded by a typhoon. Endless lightning blasted from it relentlessly, each bolt as think as a human. So many bolts slammed into every square metre within a minute that it seemed impossible to survive.
A Brimgan Royal definitely had the speed to plan ahead and cross the region. Nirat too had the means to do so. However, not within the Sandy Grey Void.
“Lightning…Wow!” Wally exclaimed and strode casually. The lightning bolts that targeted him curved around him and then formed a ring. Steadily, as he began to sprint, the thickness of the lightning ring around him continued to increase.
Thump! Thump!
Nirat felt nauseous just staring at the sheer intensity of the lightning, ’One hit, and I’ll die.’
“You’re wielding it like you’ve been playing with it since young.” Nirat commented, only to see Wally smirk in response. ’I think…it’s about to start.’
He squinted to see two figures on the other side of the lightning region. They were moving close by, oftentimes coming close to each other, as if about to collide. But they stopped, for they didn’t have a reason too.
At the end of the lightning region was a mountain range in the shape of a circle, representing the core of the Death Tentacle Ruins.
A pair of double doors formed the entrance, with a simple latch that Brangara kicked open. The double doors opened to reveal a region in the shape of a circle, spanning a radius of three kilometres.
It was small, surrounded by mountains. There was no grey sand in this region. The mountains seemed tough, seemed to be formed out of a cluster of minerals. It was purely a mineral mountain range.
At the top of each mountain was a Parute Tree Farm, situated amidst a strange wind that generated blades. These seemed able to harm only the Parute Fruits perfectly harvesting them without damaging the Parute Trees.
The fruits fell to the sponge-like and fell through the holes, eventually getting ground up due to differing air pressure within the holes.
Soon, a thin stream of liquid flowed out, having properties based on the mineral they reacted with. It wasn’t segregated or anything. So, the liquid collected on the ground, pooling over time to form a massive lake.
If someone had the capability to filter the pool, they’ll be getting an endless supply of medicines. An Empyrean Snapper was easily capable of that.
Death Tentacle Ruin—Linked Lake!
[Greetings to whomever survived all the trials so far! I am Enbubbulu from a bygone era, having witnessed a gruesome invasion. To the individual who had made it this far, I leave you behind my inheritance within the Linked Lake. It is my life’s culmination of attempting to link my senses to my Natures, all in an effort to change the order they could be harmonised.]
[I couldn’t succeed, but I’m sure, to anyone else, it might help in achieving a State of Harmony! That’s not all, I’ve even forged the means to leave one’s inheritance behind for the future generations. I hope, this technique helps us, the natives of Sumatra, survive plenty more invasions to come!]
The words just floated in the air, in the form of an aurora. The lake, was still, like a mirror. And immersed at the bottom of its crystal-clear depth, in a meditative pose, was a cluster.
A Data Cluster so condensed, it assumed the appearance of an individual. Moreover, it somehow was present in reality, when it could only exist in the mindspace.
Thump!
’That’s the Mystic Tentacle Inheritance!’ Nirat understand what it was at first glance. After all, he had one in his mindspace, which was what allowed him to survive the Death Tentacle Ruins in the first place.
Brangara was the first to make the move. However, before he could even make the plunge, something stabbed his back, causing him to grunt. And then, in the blink of an eye, right as he raised his defensive strength, he was stabbed a dozen more.
That instance where he staggered from the attack was enough for the attacker, Nirat, to rush past him and make the plunge, only to hit a wall of air.
“Patience, my good men.” Wally chuckled, “Don’t be in a rush, alright?”
“You know,” Brangara cracked his knuckles and stared at the trio near him, “It’s not good manners to crave for something that isn’t yours.”
“Really?” Wally raised an eyebrow, “I don’t see your name being written here?”
“Look closely.” Brangara shrugged as on the surface of the lake, a mineral cluttered to form a set of words.
[Property of Sir Brangara!]
