Ch. 1474 - Fire Python Holy Lands
“Ocean Sage City is much more suitable for living,” Xu Zimo said calmly. “And second, there won’t be any more Water Beasts in the future, so there’s no need for any so-called barrier.”
“You don’t understand anything. We’re people of the Chaos Fire Region,” A’Li retorted angrily. “Ocean Sage City is in the Departure Fire Region, how could we move to another region? And what do you mean, there won’t be any Water Beasts?”
“It seems you’d like to go to Ocean Sage City yourselves, but you’re too bound by the idea of territory,” Xu Zimo replied, waving his hand dismissively. “Doesn’t matter. You won’t have much choice soon anyway. As for the Water Beasts, you’ll understand eventually.”
“Always so secretive,” A’Li muttered. “Then tell me, why are you even here with our Ancient Eternal God Realm? You must have some kind of purpose.”
She had always been wary of him. After all, the destruction of Stone Flame City hadn’t been long ago, she didn’t want anything similar to happen to Ancient Eternal God Realm.
“I told you already, I accidentally fell into your airship,” Xu Zimo said lightly. “Believe it or not, that’s the truth.”
He turned to leave, but paused to add, “I’ll say this one last time. Don’t provoke me. If I end up killing you, that’ll just make me an enemy of your Ancient Eternal God Realm. Then I’d have to slaughter all of you, and honestly, that would be troublesome and pointless.”
Xu Zimo hated unnecessary trouble, especially the kind that brought no benefit.
Even if he wiped out the entire Ancient Eternal God Realm, what would he gain? No hatred, no reward, just hassle.
A’Li stared after his departing figure for a long while, her lips pursed in silent frustration.
That night, Xu Zimo sat in meditation inside the ship’s cabin.
Outside, the weather had grown strangely dim.
In the Inferno Crucible Heaven, the sky was usually bright with nine suns burning overhead. For such overcast skies to appear was practically a miracle.
Even the people of Ancient Eternal God Realm were stunned by this rare phenomenon.
Xu Zimo, however, frowned slightly.
He didn’t fully understand, but he had his suspicions.
Could this weather be a result of him killing the Red Man?
Perhaps, for the Fire God Race, such gloomy skies would no longer be a rarity, but a frequent sight from now on.
He spent the entire night cultivating.
After entering the Chaos Primordial Realm, his progress had slowed considerably.
Still, whenever he had the chance, he condensed more Life Leaves. After all, who would refuse to have extra lives?
“Ancient Eternal God Realm, long time no see!”
A loud voice suddenly echoed from the distance.
Xu Zimo turned his head to see another enormous airship flying through the clouds toward them.
This ship was even larger and more imposing than Ancient Eternal God Realm’s vessel, glowing brilliantly with golden light.
Its shape resembled a coiled python, head and tail locked together.
At the head of the serpent stood several figures in gleaming golden robes.
Xu Zimo didn’t think much of it, but the members of Ancient Eternal God Realm reacted instantly, faces darkening with barely restrained anger.
They ignored the greeting entirely.
But the python-shaped ship deliberately veered closer, so close that it nearly collided with them.
“Wang Yunpeng, what do you think you’re doing?” Lu Wuming finally shouted, unable to hold back.
“Lu Wuming, you’re not qualified to speak with me,” a man’s mocking voice called back. “Where’s your Realm Lord Bai? I’ve missed her dearly these past days.”
A figure leapt from the golden ship, striding across the air toward them.
He was dressed in a dazzling gold robe that shimmered in the void, drawing every eye.
He looked to be in his twenties, with an arrogant smirk and a trace of roguishness on his face. His eyes were narrow and venomous, like a serpent’s, making anyone who met his gaze feel deeply uncomfortable.
“Wang Yunpeng, are you looking for a fight?” Lu Wuming said coldly, stepping forward to block him.
“Even if I were, you wouldn’t be worthy of it,” Wang Yunpeng said with a grin. “I’m here to see Realm Lord Bai. I’m not in the mood to fight today.”
“The Realm Lord doesn’t meet outsiders,” Lu Wuming said flatly.
“How can I be an outsider? Our sects have been neighbors for generations,” Wang Yunpeng replied with a smirk, stepping closer.
Lu Wuming drew the long blade at his waist and held it across the man’s path.
The smile faded slightly from Wang Yunpeng’s face, replaced by a faintly dangerous aura.
“Wuming, let him through.”
A cool voice broke the tension.
From the cabin emerged Realm Lord Bai herself, dressed as always in her pale moon-white robes, her face as calm and cold as ice.
“What do you want?” she asked quietly.
“Haven’t seen you in a while,” Wang Yunpeng said with a grin. “I missed you.”
“If that’s all, then leave,” Realm Lord Bai said bluntly.
“Wait, I do have business,” Wang Yunpeng said quickly. “We of the Fire Python Holy Lands also received an invitation to the Radiant Lands. Our sect is decent, sure, but you know as well as I do that the ones going this time are all major powers. We’re hardly anything compared to them.”
Realm Lord Bai nodded slightly. That much was true. Compared with the Seven Great God Realms, their strength was indeed minor.
“So what are you suggesting?” she asked.
“I’m proposing we form an alliance,” Wang Yunpeng said with a confident smile. “If our two sects work together, we won’t have to worry about being bullied by the others.”
“Joining with your Fire Python Holy Lands is like making a deal with a tiger,” Lu Wuming sneered.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Wang Yunpeng snapped. “I’m only doing this for both our sakes. Plenty of sects want to ally with us, but I came here out of respect for Realm Lord Bai. Otherwise, do you really think your Ancient Eternal God Realm even has the qualifications to join forces with us?”
Realm Lord Bai didn’t get angry. She simply nodded slightly. “I’ll think it over and discuss it with the elders. Once we reach the Radiant Lands, I’ll give you an answer.”
“Then please don’t take too long,” Wang Yunpeng said with a grin. “And do visit our ship sometime. You’re going to be my woman sooner or later, after all.”
“What did you just say?” Lu Wuming exploded in anger.
But Wang Yunpeng ignored him completely, turning back toward his ship.
“When your Ancient Eternal God Realm can no longer stand on its own, you’ll have no choice but to marry me,” he called over his shoulder, his voice dripping with arrogance.
Watching the man’s smug departure, Xu Zimo turned to the simple-minded Wang Wei beside him.
“Who’s that guy?” he asked. “Do your people have a grudge with him?”
“A really bad man,” Wang Wei said angrily. “For years, their Fire Python Holy Lands has been suppressing us. If not for them, we wouldn’t have fallen so low.”
He hesitated, then explained further, “The Fire Python Holy Lands and our Ancient Eternal God Realm have always been neighbors. The two forces have competed since ancient times. Now that we’ve declined, they’ve been trying to swallow us whole.”
“Oh, and the Fire Python Holy Lands belongs to the Fire God Race too, except they come from serpents who gained sentience. Even within the Fire God Race, they’re not very respected.”
