How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World

Chapter 119: Little Ningning

Chapter 119: Little Ningning

“I apologize, Mr. Wei,” Youqi said as she bowed to Wei Chen. She then continued, “I will be more strict with her from now on. At the very least, she should understand that causing trouble in her mother’s office will have consequences.”

Youqi smiled as she spoke, but the child’s face immediately turned pale as she trembled in Wei Chen’s grasp.

“Ma… mama~” the child called out to Youqi with a wry smile.

Youqi did not respond. She simply smiled warmly at the child, yet the smile did not reach her eyes.

Damn… she really pissed her off, huh? Wei Chen thought to himself as he subconsciously handed the mischievous girl over to Youqi, who received her with both hands and unsealed her dantian.

However, even after her dantian was unsealed by her mother, the child continued to tremble at the sight of her fourth mother.

“Mr. Wei, could you please wait outside for five minutes? I have something important to discuss with my child,” Youqi said in a tone that was both cold and gentle. Even so, Wei Chen could not help but shiver along with the child.

He now deeply pitied the girl. However, it was not his business.

“Okay, I will wait outside, Ms. Youqi,” Wei Chen said, ignoring the child’s pleading gaze for help.

Wei Chen deliberately ignored it. It was pitiful, yes, but not enough for him to help her and risk pissing off Ms. Youqi, the secretary of the Lord of Death.

He carefully closed the door and deliberately moved some distance away from it, just in case any noise leaked out and caused him to hear something he should not hear.

After a few minutes, Wei Chen heard several sounds of slapping leaking out through the door, accompanied by the cries of a child.

“Uwaaaaa! Fourth Mama, I was wrong! I will not dare come in to play with the Redemption Shop stock anymore! Uwaaaaa! Forgive me, Mamaaaa~”

Oh. So that was the reason he had seen the Lord of Death’s used plunger in the shop. It was because of this girl, huh? No wonder.

Wei Chen thought this to himself as he shrugged internally and continued to wait outside patiently.

After exactly five minutes, Youqi called out to him. “Mr. Wei, please come in. I have finished having a deep mother and daughter talk.”

Wei Chen entered Youqi’s office once again. This time, he saw the same little girl clutching her backside, with tears welling in her eyes. She was now carefully lowering her head, staring at the ground, afraid of accidentally meeting her mother’s gaze.

Looking at the girl, Wei Chen did not know whether to laugh or cry. He wanted to laugh at her comical situation, but he was afraid of offending his boss’s secretary. One needed to understand that sometimes, offending a boss’s secretary was the same as offending the boss themselves.

“Mr. Wei,” Youqi called out. “Are you here to ask me to open the portal to the mortal realm for you?”

“That as well, but only after I receive the completed recruitment forms from Zhang Niu. After that, I will ask for your help with the procedure, and if time allows, I would also like you to open the portal for me,” Wei Chen replied.

“I see,” Youqi nodded and then checked the time on the clock hanging on the wall. “It is nearly eight thirty. I believe Mr. Zhang should arrive soon.” As she spoke, she gestured toward the sofa reserved for guests in her office.

“Please wait for a while. I will prepare some tea for you,” Youqi said warmly.

“Ah… thank you very much,” Wei Chen replied with a nod as he obediently sat down on the sofa.

The tea was served, and after about five minutes of waiting, a knock on the door came from outside.

“Please come in,” Youqi said loudly.

The door opened, revealing Zhang Niu, with all of his brothers who had once served the Murong Clan following behind him for the recruitment.

Seeing that Zhang Niu was carrying the recruitment forms, Youqi quickly shifted into work mode. She first asked for the completed recruitment forms so she could register all the names.

“Please select a few representatives among your brothers and have them come here. I need to explain the procedures, as well as the benefits and your obligations,” Youqi said to Zhang Niu.

Zhang Niu obediently followed the instructions and called a few of his brothers inside. They all sat down on the guest sofa, while Youqi took a seat on the opposite side.

She took a sip of the tea she had brewed herself and began to explain everything they needed to know.

There were two main parts.

First, they would be considered forces under Wei Chen’s command. This meant that Wei Chen was obligated to take care of them and would also be responsible for their actions in the mortal world.

Second, on the underworld side, the underworld would allocate lodging for them in the underworld center as part of their benefits and would also handle the payment of their salaries.

These were the two main parts of the contract. There was nothing complicated about it. Wei Chen would take responsibility for them in the mortal world, while they would be considered employees of the underworld government.

After that, Youqi informed them of additional details, such as various benefits and resources, as well as the discounts they would receive when purchasing from official stores based on their contributions to the underworld and its agent operations.

After listening to the explanation, both Wei Chen and the group acknowledge both the obligation and the benefit.

Youqi then open the portal for Wei Chen, as for the group they don’t need to follow Wei Che right now as the moment Wei Chen comprehended the Deathless Legion Summoning Decree and finalized the recruitment process, he could open the door to the underworld himself to call upon the Deathless Legion.

….

After Wei Chen returned to the mortal world and the members of Wei Chen’s Deathless Legion left to stand by at their own barracks, only two people remained in the room. They were Youqi and her daughter.

The child remained silent throughout the explanation, sitting quietly on the small stool Youqi had prepared for her near the desk.

Once Youqi finished her work, it was time for her to talk with her daughter.

She walked back to her desk and sat down in her office chair, staring at her daughter, who still looked dejected and continued to stare at the floor.

“Little Ningning, can you tell Fourth Mama why you tampered with the Redemption Shop list?” Youqi asked in a gentle tone.

Little Ningning still felt sour in her heart because of the punishment she had received. Having her butt hit by her strict Fourth Mama still hurt her feelings. Even though she understood the logic behind it, her heart could not help but feel upset at the thought.

Little Ningning remained silent. Youqi did not rush her or show any sign of impatience. She simply waited, giving her daughter time to respond.

“Um… Papa…” the child finally spoke, her head still lowered toward the floor.

Youqi tilted her head, giving her full attention to what her daughter was about to say.

“Hm? Papa? What about Papa? Did he say something?” Youqi asked gently, trying to understand her daughter’s thoughts.

“No…” the child shook her head. She then fell silent for a moment, as if gathering the courage to say what was in her heart.

“Papa… Papa hasn’t returned home for many mortal years. First Mama, Second Mama, and Third Mama all miss him. First Mama even murmurs about him in her sleep,” the child said softly before pausing.

“So… I think… I think if… if Papa cannot work… he will… stop…” The child began to sob, tears welling up in her eyes.

“You miss him too, right?” Youqi asked softly.

The child did not speak. She only nodded slowly in response.

Seeing this, Youqi pulled her daughter into a hug and gently comforted her. “You should not do that, okay, sweetie? If Papa cannot finish his work, he cannot come back home.”

The child nodded, trying her best to understand.

Seeing her daughter’s helpless expression, Youqi could not help but reveal some information to cheer her up.

“You do not need to worry so much, Little Ningning. Papa has already gained a great helper. I think in a few months, he will have some free time to come home and stay with you and your mamas.”

Hearing this, the child raised her head, hope shining in her eyes. “Huh? Fourth Mama, who is that helper? I will help him too, so he can help Papa be free from his work!”

Youqi smiled and gently patted her head. “It is the big brother who caught you when you were being mischievous.” She lightly pinched her daughter’s nose with tenderness and continued.

“But you do not need to worry about him. He can handle it on his own,” Youqi said.

The child obediently nodded. However, deep in her heart, she made up her mind to help that bad man who had caught her, so her Papa could be free from his work as soon as possible!
