Hello, Comrade. I'm Here to Marry You!

Chapter 159: A Little Possessive

"We’re just talking. Why are you getting handsy?" Xie Huaizheng shot Li Tiantian a sideways glance, then pulled Su Zhaozhao a few steps away from her.

Despite being publicly embarrassed like that, Li Tiantian’s expression didn’t change at all.

But the look in her eyes as she watched Xie Huaizheng showed she was angry but didn’t dare say anything. In the end, she could only cautiously say, "Huai Zheng, aren’t you being a little possessive?"

Su Zhaozhao couldn’t help but let out a puff of laughter at Li Tiantian’s words.

But as soon as she laughed, the hand clamped around her waist tightened, and Su Zhaozhao could barely breathe.

She frowned at Xie Huaizheng. "Are you crazy? You’re even getting jealous of a girl."

"I get jealous of men, women, young, and old. So, Zhaozhao, don’t flirt with others in front of me. I can’t take it," Xie Huaizheng whispered, leaning close to Su Zhaozhao’s ear.

His warm breath brushed against Su Zhaozhao’s cheek, making her face flush red.

How could Xie Huaizheng do something so shameless in front of so many people?

Su Zhaozhao couldn’t resist reaching out and pinching his thigh.

"Alright, let’s eat. Stop messing around."

Turning her head, she saw that everyone’s eyes were on them, and Su Zhaozhao froze for a moment.

Especially Huang Jiqin and Wang Anning. The two of them were watching with amusement in their eyes, whispering to each other as if they were shipping a couple.

Su Zhaozhao hurriedly buried her head and focused on eating, hoping they wouldn’t pay any more attention to her.

But that was impossible. After all, she and Xie Huaizheng were the main stars of the entire dinner party.

Li Tiantian had been scared into silence after Xie Huaizheng snapped at her.

But soon enough, she brazenly sidled up to Su Zhaozhao again and placed a piece of pork rib on her plate.

"You have to try these ribs, they’re delicious. I think Auntie’s Jiang City cuisine is amazing, too. It’s just as good as what I’ve eaten there."

"Thank you," Su Zhaozhao said to Li Tiantian with a smile.

Li Tiantian gazed at Su Zhaozhao’s sweet smile, her fair face, and her eyes that curved like crescent moons.

Her eyes were so beautiful, as if stars were twinkling inside them.

Li Tiantian could also smell the faint scent of jasmine on Su Zhaozhao.

’So beautiful and smells so good. Who is she trying to kill with all that charm!’

Li Tiantian was about to say more when she felt Xie Huaizheng’s icy gaze on her, like he was looking at a dead person.

Li Tiantian shuddered and quickly turned away to eat.

’Seriously, that Xie Huaizheng... is he really as possessive as a dog with its food?’

’She’s already his wife. Is he still afraid someone will steal her away?’

’Most importantly, I’m a girl! I’m a woman!’

’If I were a man doing this, it would make sense for Xie Huaizheng to be wary of me.’

’But I’m a girl, and he’s still acting like he’s afraid I’ll snatch Su Zhaozhao away.’

’Although, to be fair, the thought did cross my mind, but it’s just appreciation for a beautiful girl.’

’I’m not as dirty-minded as Xie Huaizheng probably thinks I am.’

’A stinky man like Xie Huaizheng would never understand this kind of pure appreciation for beauty.’

Su Zhaozhao was in high spirits today and drank quite a bit with Huang Jiqin and Wang Anning.

She didn’t know what brand the wine was, but it tasted pretty good.

She used to enjoy having a few drinks, but ever since getting drunk on too much plum wine last time, Su Zhaozhao knew that the original owner of this body couldn’t hold her liquor well.

So, Su Zhaozhao had planned to drink less.

But Li Tiantian pulled Su Zhaozhao in for two more glasses.

"Zhaozhao, you’re my friend now! This is great! I always thought coming home was so boring. All my friends are in Beijing; I don’t have any here. But now I do—it’s you! We can hang out together from now on. Come on, cheers!"

Li Tiantian once again ignored Xie Huaizheng’s frigid gaze, her courage having grown a bit.

’Su Zhaozhao is here, my parents are here, and Xie Huaizheng’s parents are here, too. What could he possibly do to me?’

Su Zhaozhao clinked glasses with Li Tiantian and downed the wine in her hand.

Li Tiantian was about to pour Su Zhaozhao more wine, but Xie Huaizheng stopped her. "That’s enough. Zhaozhao, don’t drink any more. You’ll get drunk if you keep going."

"Okay."

Xie Huaizheng’s words were a good reminder, and Su Zhaozhao didn’t touch any more wine.

After they finished eating and were about to leave, Wang Anning came out from a room with a gift and handed it to Xie Huaizheng and Su Zhaozhao. "Here. Your uncle and I didn’t have much to give you, so when I heard you were getting married, I embroidered a picture for you. I hope you don’t mind."

Xie Huaizheng was surprised. "Auntie, you’re too kind. Everyone knows how superb your embroidery skills are. So many people are begging you for a piece."

’Wang Anning is amazing at embroidery?’

Su Zhaozhao was also surprised for a moment, but her head was already starting to feel a little dizzy.

’No way. I can get drunk on just wine?’

’If my old friends found out about this, they’d never let me live it down.’

Xie Huaizheng accepted the gift, took Su Zhaozhao’s hand, and said their goodbyes.

Li Tiantian said to Su Zhaozhao reluctantly, "Zhaozhao, come hang out with me sometime, or I’ll come find you!"

"Okay," Su Zhaozhao nodded. "See you next time."

’I’ve made another friend. How nice.’

Su Zhaozhao had originally thought Xie Huaizheng would take her back to the guesthouse, but unexpectedly, he held her hand and said, "We’re not going back to the guesthouse tonight."

Su Zhaozhao lifted her eyes to look at him.

Huang Jiqin, standing nearby, said with a laugh, "That’s right, that’s right. Huai Zheng has already tidied up the house in the family compound. Zhaozhao, why don’t you go stay with him tonight? It’s the first day of your marriage, after all. A husband and wife shouldn’t live apart."

Hearing this, Su Zhaozhao couldn’t help but blurt out, "We’re going to sleep together?"

She was a little surprised, and because she’d been drinking, her head was a bit fuzzy. Whatever came to mind, she said it.

Huang Jiqin froze for a second. ’This girl is so bold.’

Xie Huaizheng threw an arm around Su Zhaozhao and covered her mouth. "We’re outside. Keep your voice down."

Even though they were married, people were still quite conservative, and it wouldn’t be good if someone overheard.

Xie Huaizheng knew that the sober Su Zhaozhao wasn’t like this. The only reason she was talking this way now was because she was drunk.

Su Zhaozhao obediently let him hold her still and nodded.

Xie Huaizheng breathed a sigh of relief and let her go.

Huang Jiqin headed back to the guesthouse, while Xie Huaizheng led Su Zhaozhao toward a nearby apartment building.

Li Jian Country’s house was just behind the military compound, so they only had to walk a few steps to reach the building.

The night breeze blew gently, and the leaves rustled.

By now, the courtyard was empty.

Everyone was busy in their own homes.

This made Xie Huaizheng sigh in relief. He could avoid running into acquaintances and having to exchange pleasantries or explain why he was living here.

At this moment, it was just him and Su Zhaozhao.

Su Zhaozhao was well and truly drunk.

This was what she was like when she was drunk—not talking, not making a fuss, just quiet. She followed him as if he could do whatever he wanted to her.

Xie Huaizheng looked at the girl he was leading, who followed him so obediently. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were hazy with drink. She didn’t seem to realize what a hungry wolf was about to do to her.
