Chapter 1698 - 1698: Lies and deception (2)
“Do you mean to say that if her life force is not taken away then she will not listen to me?” Ding Nuan Nuan asked. She was not bothered by the fact that she had been sucking the life force of perfectly fine and healthy humans.
The only thing she was concerned with was the fact that she wanted the entire village to become putty in her hands, as long as they were under her charm— Does Ding Nuan Nuan even need to care about whether her mother would find out the truth about her identity?
With the entire village looking after her, Ding Nuan Nuan didn’t care about such a small matter.
“That is indeed correct,” Big Yu replied as she looked at Yu Dong greedily. “If you let me take the life force of that woman, I am certain that I can do it this time around.”
She was bound to that small doll which Ding Nuan Nuan carried with her. Unless the little girl permitted her, there was a limit to the things that Big Yu could do.
Fortunately for her, Ding Nuan Nuan was a greedy little girl. Thus, the second she heard that there was such a thing, she immediately agreed. “Do it, just leave enough life force in her to transfer all of her properties to me.”
Her eyes flashed when Ding Nuan Nuan thought that she was going to get hold of everything that Yu Dong owned at the moment.
When Big Yu heard Ding Nuan Nuan’s words, a flash of annoyance gleamed in her blank eyes but she did not say anything. Once she got her body back, she would not let this girl take even a penny —there was nothing to be worried about.
With that thought, Big Yu turned to look at Yu Dong.
She unleashed a large amount of Yin energy and directed it right at Yu Dong.
A gush of cold wind went past Yu Dong who frowned and raised her head and it was then she noticed the cloud of black fumes that were hurtling towards her.
“What is going on here?” Another voice joined their fray as the wave of dark and negative energy disappeared as if they were blown away by a giant fan.
Yu Dong turned to look at Wu Junfen who came to stop next to her. She glanced at the little girl in front of her and narrowed her eyes in distaste, “Ah, of course, I should have known.”
Ding Nuan Nuan, who hadn’t expected such a thing to happen, stiffened and lowered her head. For some reason Wu Junfen not only disliked her but she was also one of the people who were not fooled by her.
No matter how much she tried to make Wu Junfen like her — this old woman stayed on guard around her. No matter what she said, nothing worked on Wu Junfen.
“Village Head Gu, what are you screaming for?” Wu Junfen questioned tartly. “Surely, you are not joining the fight of children?”
“No, I wasn’t—”
“And you lot,” Wu Junfen turned to look at the children before asking, “Why are you causing such a big fuss? Did Mai do anything to you? Why do you keep calling him jinx?”
“Sister Junfen, do you really have to be so stern with the children?” Village Head Gu who was still under the effect of the Yin energy spoke up angrily.
It was not Wu Junfen who replied to her, instead it was Yu Dong. She smiled at her and said to Village Head Gu, “You are wrong here, Village Head. Every debtor has to pay his debt — but you cannot make an innocent bystander pay it for him.”
She glanced at the children and simply remarked, “I just want to know what led to this fuss and nothing else.”
Ding Nuan Nuan cursed the two women at the same time she urged Big Yu, ” What are you doing? Make them go quiet.”
However, Big Yu did not respond. Instead, she was staring at Wu Junfen with wide eyes that were filled with terror. Even though Wu Junfen had done nothing, her presence alone was enough to scare her.
Because Wu Junfen might resemble a human to the living, for her— she resembled a grim reaper.
“I need to rest for a while,” she hurriedly made an excuse and retracted the rest of the negative energy that was fluttering outside. “I have used a huge chunk of energy on them and cannot use it again.”
“Do you have to rest now?” Ding Nuan Nuan asked as she looked at Yu Dong and Wu Junfen who seemed to be waiting for an answer.
“Yes, I need to rest for a while or else I will be in trouble,” replied Big Yu causing Ding Nuan Nuan to be filled with annoyance but before she could say anything, she heard Big Yu say, “If I rest enough then I can get rid of all your troubles.”
As soon as Ding Nuan Nuan heard those words her eyes lit up with excitement.
She looked up at Yu Dong who narrowed her eyes and furrowed her brows when she saw that the little girl was looking at her. There was something really weird about Ding Nuan Nuan and the way she looked at her.
Why was this girl staring at her as if Yu Dong was some sort of juicy chicken leg and she was a dog?
Not to mention there was this self-satisfied gleam in her eyes which made Yu Dong really worried. What in the world was going on in the mind of this little girl?
However, she did not have the time to worry about Ding Nuan Nuan’s thoughts because a second later she heard the children say, “It’s because Mai bullied NuanNuan!”
“Bullied? Who bullied who?” Yu Dong turned her entire attention to the children who were staring at her with defiance. “Who bullied Nuannuan?”
“It’s Mai! He was the one who bullied Nuannuan! We don’t want to play with a bully.”
