Chapter 158: Chapter 143: The Captain Makes His Move, A Jianghu Emergency

Hearing that the sniper team needed more ammunition, the captain of the Dawn Cruise finally calmed down.

Dawn Base had a limited supply of ammunition. A few more engagements like this, and they would be completely out.

As he thought about it, the captain suddenly realized something. ’It seems I have no way of dealing with this Peach Blossom Base team at all!’

And Peach Blossom Base had only dispatched a single speedboat, yet they had thrown his entire operation into chaos.

The captain’s expression was grim. A moment later, he appeared to have made a decision.

"Ready a speedboat. I’m going myself!"

"Captain, you can’t! It’s too dangerous!" his aide immediately protested, putting on a show of concern.

The captain shot him a glance and replied, "If I don’t act, our teams have no way of dealing with them. Do you want them to keep harassing us indefinitely?"

The aide froze for a second, then decisively shook his head.

"Then that settles it. You’re all coming with me!" the captain said, pointing to several of the high-ranking members at his side.

The high-ranking members were all taken aback, then they could only force wry smiles.

Besides the captain, only these high-ranking members had enough prestige to incite a mutiny among the guards. By taking them along, he greatly reduced the possibility of a rebellion breaking out on the cruise ship.

The captain and his entourage of high-ranking members boarded a speedboat and sped toward Qin Haonan.

At the same time, the captain ordered the pursuit teams to cease fire and simply tail the Peach Blossom Base speedboat closely.

Qin Haonan noticed the gunfire had stopped. He immediately looked back through an observation port. Although Dawn Base was no longer attacking, their speedboats were still tailing them, maintaining a safe distance.

With a gun pointed at them, they didn’t dare refuse. This was a single-answer question.

"In that case, hand over your phones and supplies," Qin Haonan continued.

Lin Mu and Jianghu felt a sense of resignation. They had suspected Peach Blossom Base would confiscate their phones, but they had still clung to a sliver of unrealistic hope. ’What if Peach Blossom Base is different from the others?’

Now that their fantasy was shattered, they could only obediently take out their phones, which they hadn’t even had a chance to turn on yet.

"We escaped in a hurry. Other than that licorice, we don’t have any other supplies!" Lin Mu said, spreading his hands to show he had nowhere to hide anything.

Qin Haonan looked them up and down, nodded slightly, and took the two phones before ducking into the cabin.

"Why did the gunfire stop? Did they give up because they couldn’t hurt us?" Si Youqin asked with a frown.

"But what’s the point of following us? They don’t dare get close!" Si Youqin said, confused.

"They must have something else up their sleeve. Let’s wait and see," Qin Haonan replied. "Jin Ziyu, reinforce the entire speedboat again!"

Jin Ziyu nodded slightly. "Got it!"

The Dawn Base speedboats were extremely fast. The captain’s party soon caught up and joined the rest of their pursuit flotilla.

"All speedboats, listen up! We’re going to charge them together. We’ve already lost one squad, and we absolutely cannot let them get away unscathed! Once we get close, I will use my flames to weaken the outer metal of their speedboat’s defenses. Concentrate your fire on the spot I attack with my flames!" the captain began to command.

"Yes, sir!" everyone responded in unison, and the boats began to accelerate.

"They’re speeding up!" Jin Ziyu shouted, seeing the speedboats behind them rapidly closing the distance.

Qin Haonan knew they were about to make their move. "Prepare for battle!" he said in a low voice. "Sister Qin, you just keep heading straight!"

"Got it!" Si Youqin replied, gripping the helm.

Qin Haonan immediately started hauling large quantities of Iron Melons from the cabin up to the deck.

On deck, Lin Mu and Jianghu’s eyes widened when they saw him bring out so many Iron Melons.

"Can this type of plant-based weapon be mass-produced?" Jianghu asked in confusion.

Lin Mu thought for a moment before replying, "Theoretically, yes, as long as you can cultivate the evolved Iron Melon Trees in batches. But Iron Melon Trees take time to mature. It’s only been three or four months since the apocalypse began; where could they have gotten so many Iron Melons? Unless the specific Iron Melon Tree they found evolved in two ways at once—both in explosive power and in the speed at which it bears fruit. That would be unbelievable!"

In Lin Mu’s opinion, since the Iron Melon Tree had already evolved to have such explosive power, the chances of it evolving in other aspects as well were much, much lower.
