Chapter 1657 Opportunity

Chapter 1657 Opportunity

Pedraeg’s brow twitched when he saw his son skidding along the ground, the latter’s cheek ending up swollen whole before he could even stop his momentum.

If Ancestor Scorpion had wanted, it was no question that that one blow could have killed Keyesen in a single swipe. But at this point, that wouldn’t fix much of anything.

Keyesen, though, wasn’t one to accept being slapped. He barely registered who it was and that they were a powerhouse he couldn’t handle, but his fury immediately went to his head, his lips bleeding a smokey red.

It was like his body heat had hit a new realm so quickly that even his leaking blood itself was beginning to boil in place.

There was a surge of might, but as quickly as it formed, it was immediately suppressed by the presence of the Ancestor Scorpion. Keyesen had gotten up and charged, only to be sent flying back even faster than before.

BANG!

An illusory tail the so large it felt like it was enveloping the entirety of the Scorpion Palace fell from above, squashing Keyesen to the ground and pressing his cheek firmly against the ground.

Keyesen fought back as though he was a rabid dog, and the more he fought, the fiercer the glow in the Ancestor Scorpion’s eyes back. However, just as something was reaching a tipping point and there was the sound of near glass breaking, Ancestor Scorpion spke again.

“Stop.”

The change occuring in Keyesen’s body came to a halt all at once and the pressure pressing him down to the ground was alleviated. A strong rush of telekinesis picked him up from the ground and carried him forward.

By this point, Keyesen was a bloodied mess. There wasn’t a single bone in his body that was intact, his flesh was boiling with his own blood and his eyes still had a rabid look in them. He still looked as though he wanted to bite someone’s head off.

He just been slapped and then suppressed without a word of warning or a reason why. He was seeing nothing but red at this point, he didn’t care what the truth was at this point, nor that it was the Ancestor Scorpion across from him.

He just wanted to kill and kill and kill…

His blood boiled all the more, streams of crimson fog coming off of him in waves and the Ancestor Scorpion actually…

Smiled.

“I see why Pedraeg favors you so much, but if I were to let you form your C-Grade Armor again, wouldn’t you land yourself in the very same trouble you already have. Will you not learn from the past? You have the heart of a True Scorpion, but our impulsiveness and Greed is also our greatest weakness.”

The anger that had been in the Ancestor Scorpion’s heart seemed to have faded. If Keyesen had been useless, he wouldn’t have hesitated to kill him right here and now.

To put the entire Lineage into such a precarious situation and have the audacity to be worthless on top of that? That was something the Ancestor owuldn’t be able to escape.

But Keyesen was not only not useless, he had a very unique blend of Spirit Beasts that fed his main Scorpion Lineage perfectly. He wasn’t quite a Beast God, but he could be considered a Quasi Beast God.

In fact, if not for the mistake he had made as a child, he might have grown to become a Beast God already. Unfortunately, his blend of Spirit Beasts had made it so that it was all the more likely for him to make such foolish, impulsive mistakes, especailly as a child.

In that case, it was none other than the fault of Pedraeg for allowing things to reach this point. It was no wonder the father doted on the son so much, he was still blaming himself for what happened back then.

“Calm your son down.” Ancestor Scorpion said coldly. “Then come to see me in an hour.”

**

Keyesen walked after his father with a deathly gloomy expression. There was something particularly dark in his amethyst infused eyes right now, almost as though hints of black tendrils ahd begun to worm their ways in.

Even when he stepped into the private quarters of the Ancestor Scorpion, his expression didn’t change.

“Ancestor, we have arrived as you command.” Pedraeg clasped his fists and bowed.

Keyesen didn’t move, but his father’s palm soon forced his head to lower as well. He could only grind his teeth but remain silence. Inwardly, he swore he would kill this man one day with his own hands.

When he looked back up, he found Ancestor Scorpion sneering at him as though his mind was opened to the world.

“You have caused our family a great deal of problems but you still have the audacity to be so defiant. You are lucky that you are a talent, otherwise I would slay you where you stand.”

“There is nothing lucky about it.” Keyesen growled.

“No? Seems to me there’s nothing but luck involved. In fact, if not for even more Luck than your birth already graced you with, you owuld have no chance at all to reach your full potential.”

Keyesen glared at his Ancestor but didn’t reply.

“I’m sure by now you understand the reason we’re all here. Your benefactor has caused us quite a bit of trouble.”

Keyesen’s glare turned toward his father. Had the man not been so soft hearted, none of this would have happened. But then again, if his father wasn’t so soft hearted, he wouldn’t be the person he was today either.

Keyesen, of course, didn’t realize this.

“But now this benefactor of yours has gained himself quite the protective shield and coating. If you want to remove it, you have to be better than him. If you cannot be, you will never be able to justify killing him.

“The birth of a new Beast God is exactly that opportunity. And within you lies a small chance of triggering exactly that.”
