Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband

Chapter 419: What A Joke!

Chapter 419: What A Joke!

Christopher ignored him. Instead, he sat down opposite him, took an empty wine glass and poured some wine into it, and raised the glass, "James, I’m sorry for what happened last time. I’ll have a drink with you."

With that, he drank the wine in the glass and put the empty glass back on the table. Meeting James’ puzzled gaze, he said very calmly, "But to be honest, given another chance, I would still choose to do that."

He didn’t hide his selfishness, because it was his responsibility to protect Janice. James then realized that he was referring to the last time when he called. He sneered, "What is wrong with you? What is wrong with protecting your wife? But for me, I had to call you when my wife was gone. What a joke!"

He laughed self-mockingly and was about to get the wine glass. Christopher stopped, "James, don’t say that, maybe she just couldn’t figure it out for a while."

"She couldn’t figure it out?" James sneered, "She asked me to give her three years, and I agreed. What else did she want? Did she have to force me to agree to a divorce? Nonsense! I said I didn’t care, but she didn’t believe me. Didn’t I deserve her trust?"

The more James said, the more uncomfortable he felt. Both Daniel and Christopher were silent. After all, it was a matter between Janice and Yvonne. He was free to complain about it, but they couldn’t say anything. The two stayed with James this night until dawn. When Christopher returned to the villa, Janice was already awake.

She had just come out of the baby room. When she saw Christopher come back wearing last night’s clothes, she was startled, "You... haven’t slept all night?"

Christopher nodded, "I spent the night with James."

Janice remembered how James had been at the party last night and nodded to express her understanding.

"Is... is he alright?"

Christopher took off his jacket and put it on his arm casually, freed a hand to take her shoulder, and brought her into the bedroom, "It’s nothing. I drank too much. Danny was with me."

Janice was relieved and said, "Then you go to sleep for a while."

Christopher said, "I took a nap in the car just now, and I’m not so sleepy. Did the kids bother you?"

"Oh, they just woke up. After I fed them, they fell asleep again." Janice said truthfully. Christopher smiled slightly, "Just leave these things to the nannies. You should rest."

Janice sighed, "I couldn’t fall asleep. When I close my eyes, I thought about Yvonne. Honey, what can we do?"

Christopher rubbed the top of her hair and said, "I have sent someone to go out and

help James find her. As for you, you should just take good care of yourself. Don’t forget, the doctor said that after the operation, there is a six-month recuperation period." He looked at her with confirmation. Janice nodded, "I will."

Then Christopher went to sleep. Janice had slept for too long, and she couldn’t fall asleep, so she simply went downstairs. When she went downstairs, the nannies were counting the gifts they had received at the party and they greeted her when they saw her. Janice had nothing better to do now, so she simply went over to help them count. There were so many presents, most of which were piled up in the utility room.

She counted with the nannies for a long time, but still did not finish it. Looking at the pile of unopened gift boxes, Janice couldn’t help sighing. The guests were so generous, even if she and Christopher had long stated that they didn’t want any gifts. "Madam, look, the note says you should open it personally."

...

The nanny suddenly handed Janice a small box. Janice took the box and found that the words "Janice personally" was indeed written on the box. She paused, opened the box, and found that it contained two pairs of beautiful gold bracelets, which felt heavy in her hands, and the workmanship was also very exquisite. "There are some words here." The nanny pointed to the inside of one of the bracelets and said.

Janice looked over and found that there were indeed lines engraved on it, but it was not a font, but a letter. She quickly looked at the other pair and found that there was also a letter. The only difference was that one was the letter "W" and the other was the letter "J". Wayne, Jennifer? She read it slowly in her heart.

"Yes, it’s an acronym for Wayne and Jennifer."

With this in mind, she looked at the two pairs of bracelets again. The craftsmanship revealed that they were made by precision workmanship, and one couldn’t make them in a short time. It took more than a month at least. In other words, the person who gave the gift knew the names of the babies right after she gave birth to them. However, she remembered that only a few close relatives and friends knew the names of her two children before she threw the party, so this gift came from one of those close relatives and friends. So who could it be?

She rummaged in and out of the box and found nothing. She was puzzled when Christopher came downstairs and saw her holding a box in a daze. He stepped forward and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Janice came to her sense and said to him, "Honey, look at this." She showed him the bracelets engraved with letters. Christopher took a look, but he didn’t quite understand what was wrong. Janice explained, "Honey, who do you think gave us this gift?" Christopher frowned and thought about it, but it was to no avail.

Janice said, "Do you think it was from Yvonne?"

"You mean she was here last night?" Christopher squinted. Janice shook her head, "I don’t know if she was here, but I think this gift should be given by Yvonne."

Christopher would like to hear the details. Janice continued, "Look, this is engraved with the initials of Wayne and Jennifer, but there are very few people who knew the names of the babies in advance. Apart from those who attended the party last night, only Yvonne is left. So I guess the bracelets were given by Yvonne."

Christopher thought her analysis made sense. "So as long as we go to the hotel and bring up the surveillance from last night, we will be able to find out the truth." Janice was excited.

Christopher nodded in agreement, "I will let Rob do it right away." He took his cell phone to find Rob’s phone number and was about to call him when he suddenly thought of something. He suddenly changed his mind and called another person. In the hotel, James slept soundly. When he woke up, it was already noon. He rubbed his aching head and was about to sit up when his phone on the bedside rang. It was Christopher.

James picked it up, "James, there is news about your wife..." James suddenly jumped up from the bed, "Okay, I’ll go over immediately." After he hung up the phone, he

rushed out of bed. When he came to the hotel surveillance room, the security manager had already pulled the surveillance of the party last night.

"Mr. Taylor, all the surveillance records you want are here." The security manager quickly stepped aside. James sat down in the chair and stared at the camera without blinking.

...

He stared at the camera hopefully, looking for Yvonne in it. However, until the end of the video, he still couldn’t find a trace of Yvonne. He was a little unwilling to give up and watched it again, but the result was the same. Now, James was a little anxious, "Is this all the videos from last night?"

Seeing that his annoyance, the security manager replied timidly, "It’s all here." Hearing that, James was instantly frustrated. He had been quite excited before he came in, and he was now disheartened. He dropped his eyes in frustration, but he couldn’t figure it out. Didn’t they say that she had sent a gift last night? How could it not be found? There was a piercing pain in his head, and the feeling of a hangover was terrible, so he could relieve it by holding his head with his hands. No, wait, he suddenly remembered something. Perhaps the gift was given by her, but not necessarily delivered by her.

Thinking of this, he quickly called Christopher. On the other end of the phone, Janice and Christopher were waiting for the result, especially Janice, who had been waiting anxiously since she found out that Yvonne had sent her a gift last night. Christopher was about to comfort her when his phone rang suddenly. It was from James and he picked it up under Janice’s gaze.

"James ..." As soon as Christopher wanted to ask about the result, James spoke first, "Chris, take a picture of the gift box and send it to me. Hurry up."

As soon as Christopher put the phone down, he met Janice’s eager eyes, "How about it? Did he find Yvonne?" Christopher said, "James asked me to take a picture of the gift box and send it to him." After hearing this, Janice sat back, disappointed. In the hotel’s surveillance room, after James received the photos from Christopher, he immediately started a new round of searching. This time he finally found some clues in the video.

He fixed the picture on a figure carrying the same gift bag, and then slowly switched the angle of the camera, but was stunned when he saw the person’s front face. How could it be her?

"Danny, come to see me."

In the apartment, shortly after Daniel lay down, the doorbell kept ringing. He sat up irritably from the bed. Who was it?! It was early in the morning and he had just gone to bed. Daniel got up and opened the door angrily. Before he could see the person outside the door, he was pulled by the collar. "Danny, where’s Sam?" Daniel then saw that it was James.

He gave a dry cough, pulled James’s hand away, rubbed his neck with a frown, "What’s wrong with you? I just fell asleep after spending the night with you. Don’t bother me now."

He yawned and turned and was about to walk in, but was stopped by James. "Danny, I’m serious. Where’s Sam? It’s important." James said eagerly. He was anxious, but Daniel didn’t answer his question. He pushed his hand away, and said calmly, "Why are you looking for her?"

"I have no time to explain to you. Just tell me where she is."

Daniel said, "How do I know?"

"Give me your phone." James stretched out his hand.

Daniel saw his perseverance and frowned, "Well, you’re asking me for her phone number early in the morning. Have you fallen in love with her?" "Danny, I’m not in the mood to joke with you. Give me your phone right now!" James had lost his patience. Daniel realized that it was unusual. He paused and said, "I’ll ask where she is."
