Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband

Chapter 418: We Are Sisters

Chapter 418: We Are Sisters

She paused and said, "Janice, today is an important day for the babies. Congratulations."

"Vanessa, where are you now?" Janice asked.

Vanessa lowered her eyes and lied, "I... I’m on my way back." Janice paused, "You were here, but why didn’t you go in? Come back right now."

"No, I won’t go back. I have already given Rob the present. Please tell Christopher, congratulations to you."

Hearing Vanessa’s words on the phone, Janice’s heart sank, and she was a little worried, "Vanessa, what are you doing?"

Vanessa was silent on the phone, and then said, "Janice, you know, I...not.. not suitable to be there on this occasion today." She lowered her head.

Janice knew what Vanessa thought. She was just afraid that Janice would be embarrassed to have a sister who had slept with men for money. But she was Janice’s only family member. How could she not show up on such a happy occasion?

"Vanessa, you are my sister. You are my only family in this world. You are even the babies’ aunt. Blood is thicker than water, and it will never change. You shouldn’t worriedworry about it. If you still think of me as your sister, come back quickly. I’ll be waiting for you at the gate." Janice hung up the phone directly after saying it. Vanessa looked at Janice who was waiting at the gate and then had to walk out of the shadows.

"Janice." She dropped her head and walked forward.

Janice was finally relieved when she saw her sister. She took her hand, and said sincerely, "Vanessa, from the moment our father died, there were only two of us left in this world. We are sisters."

"Oh, Janice." Vanessa’s eyes were red. She was deeply moved.

"Silly girl." Janice reached out and hugged her.

At this moment, Christopher also walked out, and he was relieved when he saw the two hugging each other. He had heard Rob say that Janice came to see Vanessa, and he followed her out became he was worried. Now seeing them like this, he believed it should be all right. He paused and walked forward, "Janice."

Vanessa left Janice’s arms, wiped away her tears, and respectfully nodded to Christopher. Christopher faintly smiled, then took off his jacket and put it on Janice’s shoulders, and said softly, "It’s windy outside. Let’s go in."

After returning to the party hall, Janice did not shy away from bringing Vanessa by her side. She introduced her relationship with Vanessa to the guests, and she was frank and open from beginning to end. This made Vanessa very ashamed and grateful. She had underestimated her sister. It turned out that in her sister’s heart, she had never disliked her at all. Vanessa couldn’t help swearing secretly in her heart that she must turn over a new leaf from now on.

Thinking of this, she walked to the corner and made a call, "Mr. Kane? I’m Vanessa Gladwell who went to your company for an interview before. I’ve thought it over. Can I go to work tomorrow?"

Vanessa slowly put down the phone until she heard a positive answer over the phone. She looked at the glorious Janice in the crowd and felt relieved.

"James, take it easy. This is Chris’s party, not a club. In the corner of the party hall, Daniel couldn’t stand it anymore and prevented James from raising the wine glass again.

...

James ignored it. He shook the red wine glass in his hand and his slightly blurry eyes searched the crowd. From the beginning of the party until now, he had been looking for Yvonne in the crowd. But now, the party was about to end, and she still did not appear. Was she not planning to come? No! Impossible! Janice was her best friend, how could she not come? He didn’t believe it. Thinking of this, he heavily placed the wine glass on the table and walked towards the crowd.

When Daniel saw this, he quickly followed him. "Honey, have you seen Yvonne tonight?" Janice was taken to the lounge by Christopher again. Before he left, she asked him.

Christopher thought about it seriously. He saw James and had a drink with him. As for Yvonne, he didn’t seem to have seen her. Thinking of this, he shook his head. "That’s weird. Why she hasn’t come yet? I couldn’t get through to her on the phone."

Janice was wondering when a tall figure suddenly rushed in. "Where is Yvonne? Where is she?" The person rushed up and grabbed her arm tightly. Janice was shocked, and when she saw that it was James, she couldn’t help being startled.

"James, what are you doing? Let go of her." Christopher reacted and hurriedly stopped him.

James has lost his mind at this time, "Answer me, where is Yvonne?"

"James..." When Christopher saw this, he pushed him aside and put Janice in his arms. James staggered and slammed into the door, and only then he became a little soberer. Meeting Christopher’s defensive look, he realized that he had been very rude.

"Sorry." James was tired.

"Are you okay?" Christopher looked at Janice.

Janice shook her head, but looking at James with a sullen face, she was confused.

"Yvonne didn’t come?" James asked slowly.

Janice was puzzled now, "I wanted to ask you the same question. Why are you asking me? What is going on?" She looked dumbfounded.

It seemed that she would not come. Thinking of this, James hugged his head in disappointment.

Seeing him like this, Janice and Christopher looked at each other, and both of them looked puzzled. At this moment, Daniel stopped at the door, panting, and said, "Finally, I’m catching up with this guy."

"Danny, what happened to James?" Christopher asked when he saw Daniel coming over.

Daniel looked at James who was leaning on the door, and said helplessly, "What else could it be? His wife is gone."

"What? Yvonne is gone?" Janice looked surprised. She realized something and asked James, "You... have a quarrel with Yvonne...?"

James didn’t say anything. He tacitly acquiesced. Janice felt that something was wrong, she said, "Even if you quarreled, Yvonne would attend the babies’ full moon party. Is something wrong?"

James felt that he could no longer remain silent, and he simply told the truth. After Janice heard what James said, she was stunned. As Yvonne’s best friend, she didn’t even know anything about it, but she was still looking forward to her coming to the party. She felt terrible. Thinking of this, Janice was full of guilt. "Then you should look for her. What’s the use of you waiting here?" She was very worried.

...

"James has looked everywhere," Daniel answered for James. Janice felt terrible. When she was still in the hospital after giving birth, Yvonne had asked her how it felt to be a mother. At that time, her answer was "you’ll know it later." Yvonne must be very sad when she heard it. Thinking of this, Janice couldn’t help feeling very guilty.

"You and Yvonne have been so close. Didn’t she contact you before she left?" James asked.

Janice shook her head.

"Could you help me think about where else she might go?" James asked eagerly.

Janice then thought about it seriously, but couldn’t think of anything. She knew Yvonne’s temperament very well. If she really wanted to hide herself, it would be very difficult to find her. So she shook her head.

James was disappointed again. He sat there with his head down, and then slowly said it after a long while, "If she contacts you, please tell me, thanks."

Since he couldn’t see her today, he didn’t have to stay here anymore. He turned and walked outside the door. "Danny, take care of him," Christopher said to Daniel.

"Okay, then I’ll go first." Daniel patted him on the shoulder before chasing James out. Seeing the two leaving one after another, Janice couldn’t help but say, "Honey, what should we do? Where do you think Yvonne went?"

Christopher tried to comfort her, "Don’t worry. James will find her, no matter where she is."

"I hope so." Janice sighed, but no longer in the mood for celebration, but luckily the party was also coming to an end. When she and Christopher returned to the villa, it was already past eleven o’clock in the evening. The two little guys were already asleep, and she and Christopher now had time to rest. "Honey, are you tired?" Janice asked when she entered the bedroom.

"No, but I think you are. I will massage your shoulders." He seated Janice on the sofa and gently massaged her shoulders. Janice sat there, but she was thinking about Yvonne. Janice couldn’t help feeling sad when she thought that Yvonne was feeling sad in someplace she didn’t know.

Christopher knew what she was thinking when he saw her sad face, and he tried to comfort her, "Don’t think about it. I think she will figure it out. If she can’t figure it out, what if James finds her?"

Janice knew this was true, but she couldn’t help but worry. But fortunately, she was really tired at night and fell asleep before long. After Janice fell asleep, Christopher walked out of the bedroom and called Daniel, "How is James?"

On the other end of the phone, Daniel glanced at James who was sitting next to him and constantly pouring wine into his glass and frowned, "He’s still drinking in the club. I can’t persuade him."

Christopher lowered his eyes slightly, "I’ll go over immediately." After he put down

the phone, he told the nanny to take good care of the babies, and then hurried to the club. When Christopher entered the box in the club, Daniel was trying to stop James from drinking, but obviously it was of no use.

He frowned and walked over, and snatched the wine from James. James raised his eyes and looked at him with blurry eyes, but after seeing Christopher in front of him, he curled his lips mockingly, "Oh, it’s you. Come... have a drink with me."
