Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband

Chapter 411: Fear Of Heights

Chapter 411: Fear Of Heights

Preoccupied with her thoughts, Yvonne cast a glance upward and noticed a Ferris wheel in the sky, and her eyes lit up.

"How about we go to the amusement park, James?"

"Why?"

James was to some degree startled, for she behaved rather unusual today, indulging herself every whim.

"I just wanna go there, please."

She didn’t tell the truth.

"Alright," replied James. He turned the car and headed toward the big amusement park.

Unfortunately, when they arrived, the park was about to be closed.

The staff was preparing for its closure.

"Bad luck. Looks like they are getting off work now."

Looking out at the busy staff, Yvonne said pitifully.

James followed her sight and cast a look out, then he gave her hair a stroke and said in a gentle voice, "Wait a second for me."

He unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.

Puzzled, Yvonne watched James as he stopped before a worker in uniform, talking with him.

In the end, the man nodded respectfully.

Then, he signaled her to get off.

She got out and approached him, doubts in her mind.

"What shall we start with?" asked James.

Yvonne thought for a moment and replied, "I’d like to start with the Ferris wheel, but on reflection, I think we’d better take it another day."

She hated to bother the staff and turned to leave.

"Why? Here we are already."

James stopped her and ordered the man: "Do as I said." Yvonne wanted to say no, but it was too late.

"As you wish, sir," the man replied respectfully.

Then he turned and left.

"What did you say to him?" Yvonne was confused.

James winked at her with a sense of mystery, "You’ll know it soon."

He pulled her into his arms. They walked in.

No sooner had they taken several steps forward than the lights were turned on one by one, and the amusement park was again as bright as it was during the day.

Colorful flashes were twinkling everywhere, and the colors changed with rhythm, forming different patterns each time.

Yvonne felt as if she was in a wonderland.

"Pretty, isn’t it?"

James asked her, noticing she was completely attracted by the colorful flashes.

She replied with a nod, her eyes fixed on them. A while later, she shifted her view and asked, "How did you persuade them?"

"With money," replied James with a proud grin.

Yvonne thought for a moment and decided it was quite plausible. "What about the Ferris wheel then," she wondered.

He signed to her to turn back.

And as she gradually turned, she noticed that the Ferris wheel which had previously been devoured by darkness was now dazzlingly bright.

Yvonne went into ecstasy.

"Let’s go."

James took her hand and they walked toward it.

One of the doors of the wheel was opened, and he let go of her and said, "You may get in now. Have a good time."

Yvonne was surprised, "Aren’t you going with me?"

Somewhat embarrassed, James touched his nose and said, "No, I’m not."

"I’m not going to take it alone. A Ferris wheel isn’t designated for a lone person to have fun withà ¢Â€ Â"it’s made for two. I’m not going to take it unless you go with me. I’m gonna get bored up there alone."

With that, she dragged him toward her and told the worker to lock the door.

Slowly, the wheel started circling.

It being her first time in a Ferris wheel, Yvonne looked elated.

"James, look, we are going up."

With all her attention focused on the scenery beneath, Yvonne took little notice of

the pale face of James.

A long while later, she realized something was wrong, and shifted her view to him, only to find he looked fairly ill.

She was surprised and asked, "Are you afraid of heights?"

James, however, shook his head.

James hated to admit it, for, in his mind’s eye, fears of any kind only did harm to his masculine pride.

"No, of course not."

Yet the sweat appearing on his forehead exposed him.

Yvonne came closer to him, took hold of his sweaty hand, and said apologetically, "I’m sorry. I really didn’t know you’re scared of heights. Let’s stop it now."

With that, she shouted to the worker beneath, "Stop it. We’re not playing."

However, her voice could not reach that far.

"Stop shouting... They can’t hear you," said James with great effort.

Yvonne became worried.

"What are we gonna do? Let’s try closing your eyes and not looking down."

Gazing at her worried expression, James nodded in hearty agreement.

He closed his eyes, but the fear remained.

James didn’t want to disappoint or worry Yvonne, so he lied, "I’m pretty g...good.. good now."

He didn’t say it without effort.

However, his face turned increasingly pale, his breathing was quick and uneven, his forehead kept sweating, and his hands were like they’d just been washed... all typical symptoms of acrophobia.

Yvonne didn’t know how bad his disease was.

As a doctor, she knew if it was mild, it would be no big deal, but if it was severe, he might faint or even die.

Thinking of that, Yvonne felt a shiver running down her spine.

No! By no means would she allow it to happen.

She tried to collect herself and retrieve the relevant knowledge she’d learned in the hope of finding a cure.

Unfortunately, she failed, no matter how many times she tried.

Impossible!

"Is it so bad?" she wondered.

Now his face was deathly pale, and his body was slightly trembling.

She began to panic.

Yvonne racked her brains to find a way of alleviation as soon as possible.

Yet the more she forced it, the harder it was.

She went completely blank.

And his breathing was increasingly quick and effortful.

She turned desperate, and by instinct, she cupped his face and pressed her lips against his.

She had no knowledge as to whether it would work or not, yet she was well aware that she needed him, that she couldn’t let him die.

Her sense of horror was so overwhelming that it surpassed that of the moment when she saw with her naked eye her mother’s body crushed and mangled beyond recognition as a result of falling from a height.

She found herself unable to breathe at that moment.

And thus she swore to be a doctor, for she’d never let it happen again.

But now, that horror came back.

No! Under no circumstances would she allow such a calamity to repeat itself before her eyes.

....

Yvonne considered herself a qualified doctor because she had never made any mistakes when working. So, she could not fail this time. She must save him. Thinking of this, she began to give him artificial respiration, exhausting all her strength. James couldn’t breathe, so she had to help him breathe.

In this way, she had kept giving him mouth-to -mouth resuscitation for a long time. Gradually, she felt his muscles began to relax little by little. "Are you feeling better?"

Not until then did she let go of him, and she then stretched out her hand to pat his

cheek lightly. James woke up slowly. He opened his eyes weakly and looked at her.

After a while, a faint smile appeared on the corners of his lips, and he said, "More..."

When he was weak, his voice was inexplicably soft, sounding like a kid begging for sweets. Yvonne felt relieved when she saw that he could still make a joke, but she pretended to be angry and said, "How can you still be in the mood to make a joke now?"

At the same time, she reached out and unbuttoned his school uniform, making it easier for him to breathe. James chuckled, "I make jokes when feeling nervous." Yvonne was speechless but still reached out to hug him. She had almost been scared to death by him just now. James reached out and patted her back gently, comforting, "Relax. I’m fine."

They hugged like this for a long time before James spoke slowly, "Am I not afraid of heights anymore?" Yvonne leaned in his arms and shook her head, "I do not know."

James smiled, "It doesn’t matter. You will be by my side anyway. If I suffer from acrophobia again, please do what you just did for me. OK?" Yvonne rolled her eyes at him. She would not agree because she didn’t want to experience it again for the rest of her life.

"But I was not sober just now, so I did feel it. Why don’t you do it again for me?"

While speaking, James pointed to his lips eagerly. Yvonne was speechless. "You wish! I will not do it again," she groaned and moved away from him. James didn’t give up. He hurriedly put his hand on his forehead and pretended to feel dizzy again, saying, "Oh, I feel very uncomfortable."

As he was speaking, he shivered his body deliberately. Seeing it, Yvonne found it was a little hard to tell whether he was acting, so she asked suspiciously, "Are you OK?"

"No... not OK, I ... I can’t breathe." While speaking, he deliberately acted as if he really couldn’t breathe. Yvonne was a little panicked when she saw this. After all, the Ferris wheel was still working, and they were still on high. She didn’t have time to tell whether he was lying and hurriedly began to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation without thinking. She felt scared, so she gave him artificial respiration as eagerly as just now. And her heart was racing.

She didn’t realize she had been tricked until he began to kiss her violently. She wanted to push him away but failed. His kiss was domineering and affectionate like a

fire, so she quickly gave up her struggle and indulged herself in his kiss. She suddenly thought she had understood why moths rushed to the flames. Even if she knew this relationship would never work, she still could not help falling. They kissed like this for a long time.

It wasn’t until the Ferris wheel arrived at the starting point that they slowly separated, and they had felt a strong desire for each other. Yvonne ignored James back home. No matter how James tried to tease her, she refused to pay any attention to him.
