Chapter 2567 - Personally Joining the Battle

Chapter 2567 – Personally Joining the Battle

The great fortune within the Lucky Die was limited. The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King understood that far better than others.

If someone won it all, they’d have effectively stripped a portion of the Lucky Die’s chaos source!

Su Yi had just won four times in a row. It might have seemed like he hadn’t taken much, but if things went on like this, the consequences would be unimaginable. The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King naturally couldn’t accept that outcome.

More importantly, by now, he was already certain that Su Yi wasn’t simply blessed with extraordinary, heaven-defying luck. He had to have been employing some sort of power. Otherwise, he could never have won against the Lucky Die with such certainty!

What do I do? The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s brow furrowed. He couldn’t stop this from happening, because when a gambling match began, it only ended when a victor was determined, or when the opponent gave up of their own accord.

But… How could Su Yi possibly give up now?

I’ll endure a while longer! The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King steadied his heart, then said, “Continue, then.”

Weng!

The crowd watched as the Lucky Die started spinning yet again.

……

In the time that followed, Su Yi just stood there in silence, moving only to take an occasional sip of wine.

The Lucky Die spun again and again, landing on the side representing “great fortune” each and every time.

Su Yi won the fifth match.

And the sixth.

And the seventh.

…As time passed, the atmosphere in the hall grew increasingly stifled and oppressive. Soon, the crowd could barely breathe.

There was no disguising the dark looks on the chaos fiends’ faces. The Master Gods, meanwhile, were astonished, bewildered, and dazed.

The silver-robed man’s attention remained focused on the Lucky Die itself. He looked deep in thought, and he didn’t say a word.

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King sat there, expression shifting erratically, just like the flickering flames of the lamps.

By now, who could have failed to realize that something had gone wrong with the Lucky Die? This had nothing to do with Su Yi’s luck. There was something else behind this!

When they saw the chaos fiends’ terrifying expressions, many of the Master Gods couldn’t help but sweat on Su Yi’s behalf. How could the chaos fiends possibly just stand back and watch as he kept winning like this?

In the end, when Su Yi won for the nineteenth time, the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King couldn’t take it anymore.

“Fellow Daoist, don’t you think fleecing me like this is over the line?”

There was no longer any sign of his earlier smile. His voice was low and imposing.

“Over the line?” asked Su Yi. “It seems to me that the Lucky Die hasn’t run dry yet, so how could this possibly be over the line?”

The corners of the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s lips twitched. “Fellow Daoist, your great fortune is clearly invincible. Why not try good or supreme luck, too?”

Su Yi pondered briefly, then said, “Sure. Then I’ll bet on good fortune next time.”

Everyone was flabbergasted. Did he change his mind?

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King inwardly cried out in alarm. He’d just been trying to probe Su Yi and test his response. He wouldn’t have guessed that Su Yi would agree!

The silver-robed man laughed. “I have a sudden premonition that you just dropped a stone on your own foot.”

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s expression was blank. He said nothing in response.

But it was just as the silver-robed man said. When Su Yi started betting on good fortune, the Lucky Die reacted accordingly, landing on good fortune every time.

It did so nine times in a row!

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King obviously couldn’t remain seated. He said, “Fellow Daoist, why not try supreme fortune next?”

“Sure.” Su Yi straightforwardly agreed.

In the following rounds, the Lucky Die landed on “supreme fortune” every single time.

The chaos fiends practically exploded into uproar. All of them were visibly enraged.

“He’s cheating!!”

“He must be pulling some sort of trick! He’s secretly controlling the Lucky Die!”

“Chaos King, we absolutely cannot tolerate this!”

The chaos fiends seethed with murderous intent and shouted accusations at Su Yi.

The Master Gods’ hearts sank. Just as I thought. There was no way they’d tolerate this forever. They’re going to flip over the table!

“Sore losers, huh?” The silver-robed man laughed. “Look at you! You’re truly bringing shame on your entire people.”

“You’re courting death!” said Chaos King Jin Xiao, eyes blazing with murderous intent.

“What, you can’t afford to lose?” The silver-robed man met Chaos King Jin Xiao’s gaze inquisitively.

“Enough.” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King suddenly rose. Terrifying pressure emanated from his enormous frame.

Everyone held their breath, their expressions shifting.

“Let’s switch up the rules,” said the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King. “I’ll gamble against you. If you win, you’ll receive some of my luck. If you lose, you’ll give up some of yours. Dare you accept my challenge?”

The crowd looked stricken, but Su Yi just said, “What are the rules?”

“Same as before. We’ll roll and gamble on the outcome,” the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King said gravely. “We cannot guess the same number, and the loser gets to guess first in the following round.”

Su Yi pondered briefly. “In that case, why not go all out? Let’s gamble three times. The overall loser must give up all of their luck. How ‘bout it?”

Gasps rang out all across the room. The onlookers’ hearts shook. They couldn’t even imagine how Su Yi could be so bold.

The Heaven-Trampling King’s eyes narrowed into slits as he stared intently at Su Yi. “Very well!”

“Also, don’t forget the two things you agreed to earlier,” said Su Yi.

The chaos fiends laughed coldly. He makes it sound like he already has this in the bag. It’s ridiculous!

“Very well!” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King nodded.

“Fellow Daoist, that guy controls the Lucky Die. If he tries to play any tricks, it’ll be hard to stop him. You’d best be careful.” The silver-robed man glanced at Su Yi.

Su Yi just smiled and said nothing.

“Then let us begin!” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King walked over to the center of the room and faced Su Yi.

The Lucky Die floated in the air between them. All eyes converged on the two competitors.

The air was rife with hostility.

Weng!

The Lucky Die started spinning.

“Who will guess first in this round?” someone couldn’t help but ask.

“Our Fellow Daoist is a guess from afar. It’s only right that he goes first,” said the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King. He still wasn’t smiling. Instead, he looked utterly calm and dignified.

As nice as that sounded, many of the Master Gods furrowed their brows.

The Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor said in a huff, “And what if you do something in secret after that fellow Daoist makes his guess?”

This was exactly what everyone else was worried about. It might have seemed like going first was an advantage, but in truth, it was a huge setback. If their opponent tried anything, the first to guess would be sure to lose!

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos Fiend said coldly, “Our fellow Daoist won continuously earlier, never once losing. Who can swear by their Dao Heart that he wasn’t playing any tricks earlier?”

The crowd fell silent.

Su Yi, however, laughed. “I disdain to play such tricks, but if that’s what you believe, I’ll just go first.”

His gaze shifted to the spinning Lucky Die. “I’ll go with ‘great fortune’ again.”

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King said expressionlessly, “I bet on supreme fortune.”

Everyone held their breath and watched nervously.

The Lucky Die spun like mad, scattering mysterious, dreamlike radiance. This was the manifestation of luck.

The crowd dared not even breathe too hard. They just watched the Lucky Die’s transformations intently.

Su Yi, however, remained as calm as ever, as if heaven and earth could collapse around him and he wouldn’t so much as furrow his brow.

In the end, the Lucky Die slowly came to a halt.

But then, strangely, the die stood on a corner. It was obviously just about to fall, and when it did, it would land on Great Fortune. However, an invisible force was pulling it, preventing it from landing. It just shook violently in midair.

Like grass glowing in the wind.

Who could possibly have failed to realize that the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King was controlling the die?

The Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor slammed the table and said, “Absurd! Isn’t your cheating a bit too blatant? Do you take us all for fools?

The silver-robed man shook his head and sighed. “It’s more than just absurd. It’s completely shameless.”

The chaos fiends exchanged glances. All of them felt like they had no face left.

They saw it too. Even if the die were pulled back, it would ultimately land on “two.” In other words, even if it landed, neither side would win.

Su YI chuckled. “Luck is indeed full of profundities upon profundities, but the die is a treasure, and that means it can be controlled. You’ve completely revealed your hand this time.”

The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s face didn’t redden, and his breathing remained even. He just said expressionlessly, “Isn’t that the same for you, too? Don’t bother with such meaningless talk going forward. Let’s just see who wins in the end!”

Su Yi inclined his head. “Exactly what I had in mind.”

He’d only just said this when the crowd watched in astonishment as the Lucky Die suddenly shook, as if breaking free of an invisible power, then landed, revealing the final result.

Great fortune!
