Chapter 2566 - Imminent Good Fortune
Chapter 2566 – Imminent Good Fortune
Everyone in the room looked at Su Yi.
He pondered briefly, then said, “I’ll play on the condition that you’ll fulfil two conditions if I win.”
The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King smiled benevolently. “Please go right ahead.”
“First, let everyone go,” said Su Yi. “Second, give me all of your Fragments of Heaven’s Will.”
“Hah!” Chaos King Jin Xiao laughed coldly. He didn’t say anything, but his enmity and disdain were readily apparent.
The Master Gods exchanged glances. They were shocked, but more than that, moved. We’re neither friends nor family, but this stranger is actually willing to come to our aid?
It was truly unexpected.
The silver-robed man looked at Su Yi thoughtfully.
The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King smiled. “I can agree to your conditions, Fellow Daoist, but let me warn you. If you really want to ‘win’ against the Lucky Die, you’ll need to seize all of its accumulated luck power. That’s practically impossible!”
He smiled as if he had nothing but the best of intentions. “It seems to me that you’d best rescind your conditions. If…”
But before he could finish, Su Yi said, “What, the chaos fiends can’t afford to gamble?”
The chaos fiends were stunned, their expressions strange.
The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King wasn’t lying. The Lucky Die was born of primordial chaos. When gambling with it, you might well get lucky a few times, but the Lucky Die always won in the end!
Yet Su Yi refused to heed the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s warning. He seemed determined to beat the Lucky Die. The way the chaos fiends saw it, this was utterly stupid and utterly ignorant!
“Fellow Daoist, whatever you do, don’t risk it!”
“The Lucky Die is a Taboo Treasure. There’s no way it’ll lose!”
The Master gods hurriedly tried to dissuade him. Su Yi’s decision seemed far too reckless. They couldn’t help but sweat on his behalf, and they couldn’t bear to see him fling himself into the firepit.
The silver-robed man said nothing. He just stood to the sidelines in silence.
“Your courage is extraordinary, Fellow Daoist. I admire you.” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King sighed and applauded. “If you’ve made up your mind, let us begin!”
With that, the hovering Lucky Die started spinning.
The atmosphere in the hall was instantly stifled and tense.
Some of the onlookers still wanted to dissuade Su Yi, but Chaos King Jin Xiao said icily, “You’d all best stay out of this!”
The Master Gods’ expression shifted, and all of them clamped their jaws shut.
Su Yi disregarded all this. “I just have to guess a number?”
“That’s right.” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King inclined his head.
“Oh,” said Su Yi. “In that case, I’ll bet ‘five’ for great fortune, just like he did.”
The silver-robed man was briefly stunned. He rubbed his nose awkwardly.
The others were baffled. Who’d dare to get complacent when gambling with so much on the line? How could this stranger be so reckless?”
“Great fortune, huh…?” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s expression was a bit strange.
He’d assumed earlier that Su Yi was so confident because he was relying on something. Now, it seemed that wasn’t the case at all. He likely just has no idea how terrifying the Lucky Die is!
The other chaos fiends’ expressions shifted inscrutably. This young man in Daoist robes might be terrifyingly strong, but perhaps for that very reason, he’s severely underestimating the Lucky Die!
Weng!
As the onlookers’ thoughts raced, the Lucky Die buzzed and spun rapidly. Wisps of dark, inscrutable light scattered from its surface.
Everyone watched the die with baited breath, including the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King and the silver-robed man.
Only Su Yi acted like none of this had anything to do with him. He just took out a jug of wine and drank.
The Lucky Die silently came to a stop.
Whoosh!
Everyone looked over. All of them were instantly dumbstruck.
A white face! There was no number!
Who could have failed to realize the implications?
“He… he really did roll great fortune!” exclaimed a Master God.
The crowd was in uproar. Everyone was astonished. He guessed so casually, yet he managed to get it right? What shocking good luck!
“Tch!” The silver-robed man couldn’t help but cluck his tongue. “I guessed great fortune and got poor luck, while you guessed the same and won. The dice obviously likes some people better than others!”
The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King was briefly stunned too. After a moment, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “Beginner’s luck, a wonderful start! I see your fortune is as grand as the heavens themselves, Fellow Daoist!”
His voice was full of admiration, but Chaos King Jin Xiao and the other chaos fiends looked on coldly. None of them could laugh.
Weng!
The Lucky Die appeared over Su Yi’s head and dropped a wisp of dreamlike, crystalline red light.
This was the power of great fortune. It silently fused into Su Yi’s body.
“Continue,” said Su Yi. “Same bet as last time.”
“???” Everyone was flabbergasted. Guessing right once was practically a miracle. Does he really think he’ll guess right a second time?
“Interesting.” The silver-robed man’s spirits stirred. His curiosity was piqued.
“Brazen!”
“You guessed right by chance once. Do you really think you can do it twice?”
“I don’t believe it!”
“He’s sure to lose!”
The chaos fiends were all talking amongst themselves. None of them thought highly of Su Yi’s chances.
The Master Gods exchanged glances. They too felt that the man in Daoist robes was behaving unreasonably.
“Let’s begin, then,” the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King said with a smile.
Weng!
The Lucky Die started to spin. All eyes were instantly upon it.
When it finally stopped, the room fell silent. Everyone’s eyes widened, and everyone froze in place.
Great fortune again!
He… got it right again. Don’t tell me this guy was born lucky?
The look in the Master Gods’ eyes shifted, and the chaos fiends glowered hideously. After all, all of them had insisted that Su Yi was sure to lose, only for reality to turn around and slap them in the face!
“That Taboo Treasure really is strange.” The silver-robed man looked at the Lucky Die, then back at Su Yi, a weird look on his face.
“Strange? It really is strange!” A Master God said bitterly. “I bet on great fortune seven times in a row earlier, but I lost every time. Not only did I not gain any great fortune, I even lost practically all of what I already had…”
The others’ expressions shifted, too. All of them knew about that. When they compared the man’s misfortune to Su Yi’s good luck, they couldn’t help but sigh.
Some people always lost when they gambled, while others were blessed with good luck and repeated victories!
The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s brow furrowed. He was starting to get the sense that something wasn’t quite right here.
The Lucky Die was, to an extent, under his control. However, he couldn’t truly refine a treasure connected to luck itself. He could at most exert some measure of control over it.
Still, had anything changed about it, even subtly, he’d have sensed it immediately.
Yet even now, he couldn’t sense anything different about it. This left him feeling bewildered and uncertain. Don’t tell me this guy is really just blessed with good luck?
It was then that Su Yi’s calm voice rang out once more. “In the third round, I’ll bet on great fortune again.”
Boom!
The whole room practically boiled over. No one could stay calm. A clamor of voices arose on all sides.
The silver-robed man opened his mouth as if to dissuade Su Yi, then closed it again. He seemed quite restrained.
And eager, too.
“Fellow Daoist, your spirit is truly as grand as the heavens themselves!” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King gazed intently at Su Yi, eyes narrowed, then smiled. “Then we’ll just have to clean out our eyes and watch carefully. Let’s see whether or not we can bear witness to yet another miracle!”
Weng!
The Lucky die started spinning, and the clamor of voices died down. Everyone watched with rapt attention and bated breath.
In the end, the Lucky Die stopped, revealing the blank side representing great fortune once more. Everyone was overcome with astonishment, their minds blank. He… he got it right again!?
“Again,” Su Yi said calmly.
“You’re betting on great fortune again?” The Heaven-Trampling Chaos King seemed unable to stay cool. His smile had faded considerably.
“That’s right,” said Su Yi.
Everyone exchanged glances. None of them knew what to say. Can a miracle really happen four times in a row? Rather, if it does, is it really a miracle?
“Hmph!” Ming Ke laughed coldly. “If you guess this right, I’ll kneel and call you ‘ancestor!’”
Su Yi glanced at him and said nothing. Ming Ke and the three-tailed woman had knelt to him already, back at the Shattered Heart Battlefield. Su Yi had spared their lives so that he could ask them questions.
At this point, he couldn’t be bothered to pay any attention to small fries like them.
But the silver-robed man couldn’t help but laugh. “You want to be his descendant? You’re dreaming!”
Some of the Master Gods couldn’t help but laugh. Ming Ke’s face instantly flushed red.
“Shameful wretch. Get the hell out of here!” Chaos King Jin Xiao glared at him. Ming Ke instantly broke out in cold sweats, turned, and left the room.
“Let’s continue. I’ll be interested to see whether our fellow Daoist can keep creating miracles,” said the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King.
Weng!
The Lucky Die started spinning. In the end, beneath the crowd’s disbelieving gazes, it stopped on “great fortune” yet again.
The room instantly fell so silent that you could have heard a pin drop. Everyone froze in place.
He… won? A-again? Chaos King Jin Xiao’s face was ashen, his gaze cold and terrifying. Something isn’t right here!
No matter how heaven-defying someone’s fortune is, how could they possibly beat the Lucky Die four times in a row?
Something must have happened!
And whatever it was, I somehow didn’t notice it!
As the owner of the Lucky Die, the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s smile had completely faded away. His brow was tightly furrowed.
“The Lucky Die is a Taboo Treasure Born of chaos and touching upon the mysteries of luck…” murmured the silver-robed man. “But why does it seem slavishly obedient when you’re around, Fellow Daoist?”
Everyone’s expression shifted. Some of the chaos fiends felt deeply humiliated, and their expressions darkened.
Su Yi, however, just took a sip of wine and said calmly, “Let’s not waste time. I’ll just keep bettering on ‘great fortune,’ so stop asking. If I change my mind, I’ll say so.”
His voice boomed throughout the hall.
All of the Master Gods noticed that the Heaven-Trampling Chaos King’s expression suddenly shifted.
