Chapter 2319 - Do You Dare?
Chapter 2319 – Do You Dare?
The appearance of the old monsters from the Age of Supreme Emergence had been startling enough.
Then, the arrival of the giant Xiao Bi and Master Cloud Refiner startled even those old monsters.
Afterward, Master Cloud Refiner explained that the deeper one’s cultivation base, the more thoroughly trapped they were, and the harder it was to break free.
That meant that, at least for now, those old monsters still trapped in the Ruins of Supreme Emergence couldn’t possibly break free.
Yet here those unfamiliar apprentice siblings were.
The young woman had yet to prove her Dao and become a Master Goddess. That was obvious to everyone, and it wasn’t at all surprising that someone of her level had broken free.
But the blue ox, now in the form of a stalwart young man, was obviously an extraordinary expert. He was supremely powerful, to the point that he could shake even an old-timer of Master Cloud Refiner’s level!
Even stranger, for some reason, no one here knew their origins.
The Mountain Guardian, meanwhile, looked outwardly surprised, but he seemed to have anticipated this. He even let hints of sadistic glee and mockery slip when the stalwart young man whalloped Master Cloud Refiner.
There was no doubt about it. He knew what was going on, and he knew those apprentice siblings’ origins!
When Su Yi realized this, he transmitted, “Fatty, just what’s going on here?”
The Mountain Guardian was stunned. Then, without any outward change in expression, he transmitted back, “I just made a few trivial arrangements, nothing worth mentioning. I hope we meet again one day, Fellow Daoist. Farewell!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through Su Yi’s ears, the entire Celestial Capital rumbled and boomed, and the city gates shut.
Immediately afterward, the entire ancient city vanished before the crowd’s very eyes. Not even a trace of it remained.
Su Yi sank into silent contemplation.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crowd was intimidated by the tall, stalwart young man’s ferocity, and they weren’t actually all that surprised by the disappearance of the Celestial Capital.
Master Cloud Refiner reined in his temper, his expression shifting and uncertain. No one knew what he was thinking.
“Now, even that damned fatty’s left. Does anyone else have any objections?” The tall, stalwart young man said with a ferocious glare. His voice boomed like thunder.
No one responded. It wasn’t that they were afraid; it just wasn’t worth arguing with someone so temperamental and barbaric.
When he saw this, the tall, stalwart young man’s expression mellowed considerably. Then, he looked directly at Su Yi. “Fellow Daoist Su, don’t be afraid! You just need to spar with my junior apprentice sister. Win or lose, we’ll both leave immediately!”
Su Yi asked in confusion, “Why insist on fighting me?”
“Those are our master’s orders,” said the tall, stalwart young man as if it were perfectly obvious. “We cannot defy him, so please, cooperate with us.”
He then gestured to the feeble young woman in a plain, undyed dress. “My junior apprentice sister is in the Limit Realm, just like you, but she has an extraordinary status. She’s our master’s chosen ‘Bringer of Order’!”
A Bringer of Order!
This title astonished even the old monsters. Su Yi looked surprised, too.
“Bringing order” referred to re-establishing the natural order of the Grand Dao, using one’s own powers of the Dao to suppress all other Laws. In doing so, one could replace the Dao of the Heavens!
A “Bringer of Order” was someone qualified to one day restore order to the world.
To the best of Su Yi’s knowledge, Di E, an expert who’d taken half a step onto the River of Destiny, was the Bringer of Order chosen by the little girl manifested of the natural order of the River of Destiny.
Yet now, a Limit Realm cultivator was being trained as a future Bringer of Order. How could Su Yi not be surprised?
Never mind the rest. That title alone proved that the young woman had mastered a supreme, taboo Dao!
“Truly?” Su Yi asked with great interest.
Earlier, when he looked at the young woman, he felt a strange sensation, as if he’d… encountered a worthy opponent!
It was a truly inexplicable feeling, but he was starting to guess what caused it. The young woman’s power of the Grand Dao had triggered a reaction from his power over reincarnation!
“What are you trying to say?” the tall, stalwart man asked in displeasure. “I never lie. If you don’t believe me, just fight my junior apprentice sister. Then you’ll know!”
The young woman took a step forward, timidly lowered her head, and said, “Please instruct me, Fellow Daoist Su.”
No one stood in her way, and no one else tried to get involved. The old monsters watched coldly from the sidelines. They planned to see what the girl was made of, and why she dared call herself a potential “Bringer of Order”!
“Do you think I’m in any mood to spar right now?” Su Yi took out a jug of wine and had a sip.
The stalwart young man pounded his chest. “Rest assured. If anyone dares to get involved, I’ll beat them to death!”
Many of the old monsters smiled coldly, but none of them said anything. They just kept watching from the sidelines.
“That’s not what I’m worried about,” said Su Yi. “I’m just not in the mood to fight your junior apprentice sister right now.”
“You…” The stalwart young man’s expression darkened, and his eyes blazed with fury. “If you refuse, don’t blame me for beating you to death!”
The crowd was stunned. It was obvious to anyone that this tyrannical hoodlum really would beat someone to death at the slightest provocation.
“Is that so?” Su Yi threw back his head, took a big gulp of wine, and put away his jug. “That would be best. If I have to fight, subduing a mad bull like you would be the most satisfying.”
Many of the onlookers were flabbergasted. They almost dared not believe their ears.
The stalwart young man was stunned, too. “You… You want to fight me!?”
“Of course,” said Su Yi. “I won’t bully you, either. Let’s fight one-on-one. How about it?”
The crowd stirred.
Even Wan Zitian was wide-eyed and tongue-tied. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out why Su Yi was doing this. That guy is as strong as those experts who’ve touched the threshold of the River of Destiny! And Su Yi is still just in the Limit Realm.
Who could have imagined that Su Yi would suggest a duel under these circumstances?”
“Hahaha!” The tall, stalwart young man threw back his head and laughed uproariously. “This is my first time encountering someone as strange as you. Do you have reason to be confident, or are you just that unafraid to die?”
Su Yi smiled. “I promise not to use any external power, so don’t waste any more time on nonsense. If I win, you have to agree to do something for me. If I lose, you can do with me as you please. I’ll just ask you this: dare you accept my challenge?”
He isn’t going to use external power!? The onlookers’ minds practically went blank. You’re just a Limit Realm Mid-Rank God. How are you supposed to defeat an extraordinary figure among Nine-Tribulation Master Gods without relying on external power?
The very idea is ludicrous! No, it’s completely insane!
The stalwart young man’s smile vanished. “Why wouldn’t I dare!?”
“Senior Apprentice Brother, Master didn’t tell you to fight,” the young woman said with exasperation.
“Rest assured, Junior Apprentice Sister. I promise not to beat him to death.” The tall young man grinned, revealing his pearly white teeth.
With that, he took a big step forward and approached Su Yi. “Come on, then. Show me what you’re made of!”
All eyes were instantly upon them. All of them had come here to target Su Yi. It would naturally be just wonderful if they could borrow the tall young man’s hands to test Su Yi’s limits.
“I’ll just stand here,” said the tall young man, stopping one thousand feet away from Su Yi. He provocatively extended a finger and cleaned out his ears. “I won’t fight back, either. If you can shake my defensive power, I’ll consider it my loss!”
He was so arrogant that even Su Yi’s enemies couldn’t stand to watch any more of this.
Master God Yun He said coldly, “You’d best be careful. If Su Yi were so easily dealt with, why would we old-timers have bothered coming in person?”
He sounded polite, but he was basically telling the young man not to get complacent, or he might well fall flat on his face!
“I’m already being careful!” the tall young man said dismissively. “He’s just a Mid-Rank God. How could a Mid-Rank God like him possibly shake my defenses?”
The crowd fell silent. The way they saw it, Su Yi really didn’t have much hope of success. He seemed no different from an ant trying to shake a tree or an egg flinging itself against a rock.
But…
This was Su Yi!!
He was the one who’d dared to suggest a one-on-one duel. How could he possibly have had nothing up his sleeves?
But it was obvious to everyone that the tall young man wouldn’t heed their advice, so they just let it go.
When Su Yi saw this, he just laughed and stepped forward.
There was no denying that the tall young man had a fierce, terrifying presence. As Su Yi drew closer, he felt an avalanche of pressure bear down on him.
But Su Yi didn’t care. His expression didn’t even waver.
The entire area was silent and still. Even the birds ceased their song. The very air itself seemed to freeze. Everyone held their breath, afraid to miss even the slightest detail.
The tall, stalwart young man’s eyes shone with a strange light.
Even though he just stood there, unmoving, his qi circulated through his body, creating an air of divine majesty mighty enough to intimidate anyone beneath the Master God level so badly that their knees turned to jelly, losing before the battle even began.
Even Master Gods of less than nine tribulations struggled to withstand that immense pressure. They’d have had to circulate the full extents of their cultivation bases just to hold their own.
But Su Yi didn’t even look like he was exerting himself!
The tall young man snorted coldly, his qi rumbling and booming as his majestic aura rose.
The entire stretch of heaven and earth crumbled beneath the pressure, and a terrifying flood of the power of his blood and qi swept out like flood waters. Countless onlookers’ hearts clenched.
Wan Zitian couldn’t help but sweat on Su Yi’s behalf.
But it was then that Su Yi took action.
He leaped through the air, his whole body like a sword. He raised his arm like a whip and slammed his palm into the tall young man’s shoulder.
It was just a light, airy palm strike.
But something unbelievable happened. When Su Yi’s palm landed, it stirred up a swath of clear, resplendent, and dazzling light that blasted through the tall young man’s defenses.
Bang!!
When Su Yi’s palm struck the tall young man’s shoulder, a terrifying, suppressive power slammed into him. He plummeted from the sky before he even knew what had hit him and slammed into the ground, hard.
He fell with such force that he created a massive crater on impact. Clouds of dust billowed into the air.
A deathly silence descended over the surrounding area.
Everyone’s eyes widened, no exceptions!
This palm strike had done more than just break the tall young man’s defenses. It had suppressed him completely, slamming him into the ground!
Who could have anticipated this result?
“Again!” The tall young man bellowed, then charged, his enormous, copper-colored eyes bloodshot and his hair bristling with anger.
He was already circulating the full extent of his terrifying power, the very picture of an enraged, primordial god of slaughter.
However, in the end, he didn’t go back on his word. He just stood there and said, “Keep going! I refuse to believe it!”
Su Yi didn’t hold back. He struck once more, striking the young man’s shoulder, just as he had before.
Bang!!
The tall young man was suppressed once more, flung into the ground headfirst, his feet sticking in the air like chives. He looked utterly pathetic.
This scene stunned the crowd once more.
It was then that Master Cloud Refiner cried out, “He’s using Supreme Emergence Source Power!!!”
