Chapter 2318 - Apprentice Siblings of Unknown Origins
Chapter 2318 – Apprentice Siblings of Unknown Origins
The Mountain Guardian disagreed with Master Cloud Refiner.
“Far too much has happened today, Master Cloud Refiner. Aren’t you worried that more unexpected developments will arise?” the Mountain Guardian said gravely.
“Hah! Nothing but alarmism,” Master Cloud Refiner said coldly. “Fatty, the Supreme Emergence Spirit is nowhere to be found. A servant like you can accomplish nothing at all. I dare say with certainty that when the Dark days of Legend arrive, you’re doomed to die a miserable death!”
The Mountain Guardian sighed. “I said that out of consideration for you, so why curse me like that? You’re awful!”
“Hurry up and get the hell out of my way!” Master Cloud Refiner’s eyes flashed with murderous intent. “Even if more unexpected developments arise, anyone who tries to stop me from seizing the power of reincarnation must die!”
As he spoke, his presence abruptly transformed, and his whole body erupted with dark light. It shot into the firmament, and he soared over on his black Daoist altar.
But just as he was about to attack, a soft, timid voice rang out. “Seniors, might you let me and Fellow Daoist Su spar first?”
Everyone was flabbergasted.
A moment later, they saw a young woman approach from afar.
She was dressed in a worn-out cloth skirt, and she was petite and frail. Her little face was pallid and sickly. Her hair was a bit tangled, dry, and yellowed, like wild grass blowing in the wind. Anyone who saw her would suspect she’d crumble at the slightest breeze. She looked weak and pitiful.
Yet for some reason, she’d stepped forth just as a grand battle was about to break out.
And she was headed toward them, too!
She looked timid, but it was as if she had no idea how terrifying these old-timers were. She pursed her lips, lowered her head, and arrived at the center of the battlefield.
This was naturally out of the ordinary!
Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. In the outside world, most likely, no one would have paid any attention to a girl like this. She was like a random blade of grass growing by the side of the road, just too unassuming and ordinary.
Yet the moment Su Yi first laid eyes on her, he felt a strange, inexplicable sensation.
“Who are you, lass?” Master Cloud Refiner furrowed his brow, his expression dark.
“I… My master sent me.” The young woman lowered her head, looking extraordinarily feeble and brittle. “He said that this was a rare opportunity, and that it would be a crying shame if I missed it. So, I… I rallied my courage and came here to request to spar with Fellow Daoist Su.”
Her tiny, pallid face was utterly serious. “I really just want to spar.”
The old monsters’ expressions were strange. The young woman looked feeble and far too meek, as if she wouldn’t hurt a fly.
Yet she’d dared to come here. That naturally proved that she was no ordinary person!
“Who is your master?” Master Cloud Refiner said icily. He was starting to run out of patience.
The young woman in the cloth skirt shook her head. “As his disciple, I’m afraid it wouldn’t do for me to call my Master directly by name.”
“In that case, just be good and step aside. Otherwise, this lofty one won’t spare you!” Master Cloud Refiner said icily.
He was still being relatively polite, as he could tell the young woman had extraordinary origins. Were that not the case, he’d have long since slapped her to death!
“Little sister, you’d best leave quickly. This is no place for you.” The woman in colorful clothes shook her head. She could tell that the young woman had yet to even reach the Undying Realm.
“I can’t leave.” The young woman shook her head. “These are my master’s orders. I have to obey.”
“Stubborn!” Master Cloud Refiner was so angry that he laughed. “Very well. Show me how you plan to follow orders, then!”
The young woman pursed her lips, her face pallid. It seemed she felt aggrieved.
“You’re scaring my little apprentice sister!” A ferocious voice went off like a thunderclap, booming throughout heaven and earth.
Immediately afterward, the crowd saw a blue ox appear beside the frail young woman.
It was built like a mountain and shrouded in blood-red divine radiance. As soon as it arrived, it transformed into a dark-skinned, powerfully built young man with coppery eyes.
He too wore thin, undyed cloth robes.
However, the young man emanated the shocking energy fluctuations of a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God!
The crowd’s eyelids twitched. An expert like him is seriously that frail little girl’s senior apprentice brother? Just what kind of terrifying figure is their master, then?
Most unbelievable of all, Master God Yun He and the others weren’t the only ones who had no idea who these apprentice siblings were.
Master Cloud Refiner, Hua Yin, and the other old monsters of the Age of Supreme Emergence didn’t recognize them, either!
“My junior apprentice sister just wants to spar. As members of the older generation, why not just let her?” the tall young man bellowed. “You have no magnanimity at all! It’s infuriating!”
“….” The crowd didn’t know what to say to that.
“Friend, you’re being a bit unreasonable,” laughed Hua Yin.
“I’m not here to be reasonable!” roared the young man. “Let me make myself clear. Let my junior apprentice sister spar with Su Yi before anything else happens. If anyone refuses, I’ll beat the crap out of them!”
The crowd was instantly enraged. Many of them were so angry that they couldn’t help but laugh. This tall young man’s temper is simply explosive! He’s a hooligan!
“Why not have a look around? Don’t you see this is no place for you to throw your weight around?” Lu Song said strangely. “If you know what’s good for you, take your little apprentice sister and leave. Or else…”
Bang!!
The powerfully built young man appeared out of nowhere beside Lu Song, then swung his fist.
It was a simple, plain punch, but shockingly, it sent a terrifying old monster like Lu Song flying.
The crowd was stunned.
Lu Song, meanwhile, looked stricken. What terrifying power!!
“How dare you threaten me!?” The tall, stalwart young man’s copper-colored eyes bulged, and his whole body seethed with bloodlust as he roared, “I hate nothing more than threats!!”
Boom!
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he blurred, and a moment later, he appeared before Lu Song and ruthlessly kicked him.
This time, Lu Song was on guard, and he blocked with all his might.
Nonetheless, a moment later, his defensive Dao Light shattered, and he slammed to the ground like a meteorite, his face black, blue, and covered in dirt.
Before he could climb back to his feet, the tall, stalwart young man charged over and whaled on him as if pummeling a sandbag. Lu Song cried out repeatedly, and throughout his body, countless bones snapped.
The crowd gasped. How powerful was Lu Song? Yet against this young man, he shockingly couldn’t even fight back!!
“Stop!” Hua Yin shouted from astride his white horse. “If you have something to say, say it. What need is there…”
“Fuck that!” The tall, stalwart young man suddenly flashed through the air and charged at Hua Yin like a frenzied demon. His coppery eyes were utterly ferocious. “There’s nothing I find more aggravating than hypocritical ‘do-gooders’ like you!”
Boom!
The tall, stalwart young man swung his fist.
Hua Yin waved his jade flute, stirring up searing, misty green light.
But terrifying fist force instantly blasted the light to bits, and the impact almost sent the flute flying from Hua Yin’s hand.
Even the white deer he rode on was spooked. It wailed in terror, then galloped away so suddenly that Hua Yin almost fell off. He looked utterly wretched.
The crowd saw it all, and many of their expressions shifted. The tall, stalwart young man’s strength was far beyond their initial estimates!
Hua Yin was furious, but he forced it down and moved further away. He had no intention of clashing with this madman head-on.
“Is anyone still unconvinced?” The tall, stalwart young man roared murderously, then swept his gaze across the crowd.
“Senior Apprentice Brother, you’re being rash. You’re just going to make everyone angry at you.” The young woman in the plain cloth dress said timidly, then shook her head in exasperation.
“Junior Apprentice Sister, when you’re talking to old codgers like them, you can’t afford to be reasonable. You have to speak with your fists!” objected the stalwart young man. “Look! My fists sure have quelled their anger, haven’t they?”
The crowd’s expressions were unsightly.
The tall, stalwart young man was more than just coarse and barbaric. Even his words were grating to the ears.
But there was no denying that witnessing Lu Song and Hua Yin’s misfortune had cleared their heads.
Su Yi and Wan Zitian watched coldly from the sidelines. The way they saw it, the more chaotic the situation got, the better.
Moreover, witnessing the stalwart young man’s strength made them see him in a new light, too. He really was strong!
As strong as those old-timers of the present day who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny!
Master Cloud Refiner said gravely, “Hey, big guy. Go test our Fellow Daoist’s mettle. If he beats you, this lofty one wouldn’t mind taking a step back and letting that little girl do as she sees fit.”
“Alright!” said the giant whose massive frame towered into the clouds.
The crowd’s eyes flashed. None of them said anything. All of them wanted to borrow the giant’s hands to further probe the young man’s strength.
However, the stalwart young man refused. Instead, he roared, “If my junior apprentice sister wants to spar, she doesn’t need your approval, you old baldy!”
Old… baldy….? The red-robed Master Cloud Refiner’s expression was instantly incomparably unsightly. “You refused to do this the easy way. Now—”
But before he could finish, the tall, stalwart young man roared, “I prefer doing things the hard way!”
Boom!
An astonishing scene unfolded before the crowd’s very eyes. The tall, stalwart young man actually attacked Master Cloud Refiner directly.
He was so tyrannical, it was downright ridiculous! He just flashed through the air, fists swinging.
Master Cloud Refiner’s sleeves billowed around him, and his hands formed seals. He pantomimed raising a divine cauldron into the air, then suddenly pressed downward.
Bang!!
When fist and seal collided, the entire stretch of heaven and earth was blasted apart.
A terrifying current of destructive power swept outward from the point of impact. The stalwart young man swayed on his feet as he was forced several steps back.
Both Master Cloud Refiner and his black Daoist altar were sent flying into the distance, their faces alternating white and green.
A deathly silence descended over the area.
Master Cloud Refiner was among the strongest old-timers of the Age of Supreme Emergence present, yet he hadn’t seized the slightest advantage. On the contrary, he’d been forced back.
Who wouldn’t have been astonished?
The way the old monsters looked at the stalwart youth shifted. Just where did this guy come from!? He’s just too strong!
Meanwhile, Su Yi suddenly noticed that the Mountain Guardian was watching from the gates of the Celestial Capital with sadistic glee.
That damned fatty must have known those apprentice siblings’ origins this entire time, thought Su Yi.
But then, something occurred to him. He’d just realized a problem.
