Falsely Accused, I Started Plundering Monster Traits

Chapter 63: He Watches You

Chapter 63: He Watches You

Lin Yan slowly descended to the ground, his feet settling back onto the stone floor.

Sacred Energy still lingered around his body, brilliant white light flowing slowly across his skin and clothes, making his already massive figure seem even more solemn and imposing. Lin Yan did not move right away. He simply stood there with his eyes slightly lowered. The sense that he might lash out at any moment had completely disappeared, replaced by an almost unnatural serenity.

Even his expression had softened considerably.

If someone did not know him, they might genuinely have mistaken the man standing there for a devout believer who had just received a revelation from God.

Lucia watched him quietly for a moment, and the coldness on her face gradually faded.

"He has accepted you."

Lin Yan slowly raised his head.

"I have felt His gaze upon me."

His voice was steady and calm, without the slightest hesitation.

"To be bathed in His light is a blessing He has bestowed upon me. The doubts and confusion of the past were merely dust that had yet to be illuminated by His radiance."

After saying that, Lin Yan himself fell silent for a moment.

That actually sounded pretty convincing.

He had not prepared any of it beforehand. He had simply picked out a few words that sounded suitably solemn and religious, then strung them together as naturally as he could.

Looks like I really was changed after all...

Lucia clearly noticed nothing wrong. She simply gave a small nod, then turned and headed toward the hall’s only exit.

Lin Yan followed.

Only then did the tension hidden beneath his tranquil expression finally ease, and the events from moments earlier surfaced once again in his mind.

The truth was, while Sacred Energy had been strengthening him, it really had affected him.

And what frightened Lin Yan most was not that strange thoughts had appeared in his mind.

It was that, at the time, he had not found those thoughts strange at all.

His vigilance had been fading.

His hostility had been fading.

Lucia, whom he had previously found suspicious no matter how he looked at her, had gradually started to seem trustworthy. Even that "He" whom Lin Yan had never once seen had begun to inspire an inexplicable sense of closeness.

Everything had happened with terrifying naturalness.

He had simply become calmer and calmer, increasingly convinced that there was no need to resist, no need to doubt, and no need to maintain all those precautions he had held before.

At the most dangerous moment, a thought had even crossed Lin Yan’s mind.

Maybe this isn’t so bad.

It was only then that Lin Yan suddenly realized things were beginning to slip beyond his control.

Fortunately, the influence had not yet become strong enough to completely suppress his judgment. At the very least, he was still capable of recognizing that his current state was abnormal.

Lin Yan did not immediately switch [Willpower II] back in.

The enhancement was still ongoing. He had no idea whether changing Traits midway would interfere with the process, and he certainly did not want to gamble with an enhancement that was already halfway complete.

So while he was still capable of thinking normally, he issued a direct command to the System.

The moment the enhancement ends, immediately restore [Willpower II].

Do not wait for confirmation.

Do not ask me again.

Just switch it.

The System obeyed.

And so, the instant Sacred Energy stopped pouring into his body, [Willpower II] was restored, followed immediately by [Brawn I], [Agility I], and [Valerian Common].

Only at that moment did Lin Yan truly emerge from that strange state.

Then he thought back to the things that had been going through his mind just moments earlier.

A cold sweat broke out across his back.

That was the truly terrifying part.

Had he been even a little slower, he might never have given the System that command in the first place, because the version of himself trapped in that state would not have believed there was any need to restore anything.

But now that he was out of it, Lin Yan obviously had no intention of showing that.

The enhancement had only just ended, he still had not figured out everything going on around him, and Lucia was still standing right there.

Even his own body felt slightly unfamiliar. His movements seemed lighter than before, while every step carried a strange sense of strength that he had yet to properly test.

So he simply continued acting the way he had before.

He had already committed to the act this far.

A few more minutes were not going to kill him.

The two of them walked side by side toward the exit.

The hall was large, but they were not particularly far from the door to begin with. After taking a few steps, Lin Yan’s path shifted ever so slightly to one side, as if he simply had not been paying attention and had naturally drifted off course.

At almost the exact same moment, Lucia shifted in the same direction.

Lin Yan showed no reaction and kept walking.

Lucia did the same.

After another two steps, the straight path they had originally been taking toward the exit had visibly turned into a diagonal line.

And at the end of that line—

lay the M2 that had been thrown near the door earlier.

Neither of them had mentioned the weapon since Lin Yan landed.

Apparently, neither of them had forgotten about it either.

Both of them stopped at the same time.

Lin Yan turned his head.

Lucia was already looking at him.

The instant their eyes met, both understood.

The solemn expression Lin Yan had been wearing, as though he might receive divine revelation at any moment, vanished without a trace.

He exploded forward.

Lucia reacted even faster.

A mass of Sacred Energy surged out from around her, crossed several meters, and wrapped itself around the heavy machine gun on the floor.

The M2 lifted off the stone and flew toward her.

Lin Yan was already halfway there when he reached for the M2, but although his hand made contact, his fingers slid off before he could get a proper grip.
