Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades

Chapter 779: Identity Of ’I’

Chapter 779: Identity Of ’I’

’I’ watched Neo continue to push through the River of Time with stubborn determination.

The new eyes behind Neo glowed with a light that made the entire frozen expanse tremble.

But then ’I’ noticed something important.

Neo was spending too much energy.

The chaotic energy in the universe kept resisting him.

And the presence of the millions of Gods ’I’ had prepared earlier forced Neo to burn power nonstop.

Every second drained him.

A small, relieved thought formed inside ’I’.

’Yes… this can work.’

’He’s going to run out of energy. He’ll become a cripple before he can reach the moment where I got the eye.’

’I’ had even rewritten his own past at one point, but now it was pointless.

Neo could simply choose which version of the past he wanted to interact with.

Rewriting the past now not stop Neo.

Now all ’I’ could do was watch and wait.

Ideally increase his chances of victory against Neo, he should’ve reached Stage 7 already.

Or called an Eternal for support.

But both choices were impossible.

If he reached Stage 7, he would be forced to leave the universe.

And once he left, either the Shadow Supreme or the Mad Supreme would find him.

Neither outcome was survivable.

Calling an Eternal was even worse.

They would take the Eye of All Fate from him immediately, claiming it as their rightful relic.

’Dammit… should I just escape into the True Blessed Lands?’

The thought was tempting for a moment.

But he shook it off.

He knew nothing about what truly happened inside that place.

Only one percent of those who entered ever returned.

Even they had their memories wiped clean, as if the world itself refused to let them remember.

Those who didn’t return simply vanished.

Even some Supremes entered the True Blessed Lands and never emerged again.

’I’m not risking that. Not yet.’

’I just need to wait.’

’He doesn’t have enough energy to reach the moment I obtained the eye.’

Neo, meanwhile, kept burning through his power.

The rate was so extreme that his body and soul were repeatedly vaporizing.

His Willpower, Cores, Cosmos, and Nine Heavens all churned like engines running past their limit, constantly generating energy.

He pushed himself until he hit the border of collapse.

He was forced to tap into Loan far earlier than he wanted. At around the ten-thousand-year point.

By then, he had already pulled his friends into his Cosmos for safety.

Every person he cared about was saved.

And yet, the anger in Neo’s chest didn’t fade.

He regressed the universe by ten thousand years.

Then a hundred thousand.

A million.

Ten million.

The number kept climbing, and the pressure kept increasing.

’I’ felt sweat slide down his face.

’No… he’s going to stop soon.’

’He has to stop.’

’He looks like he’s at his limit.’

But Neo didn’t stop.

His aura burned hotter, then dimmer, then hotter again, like a star struggling to stay alive.

The Energy Loan twisted around him, pushing him forward even though his physical form kept breaking apart.

’I’ felt his heart hammering in his chest.

He had spent millions of years planning his strategy.

Every piece had been placed carefully.

Every trap had been set with patience.

His entire plan had relied on Neo.

Neo would defeat Kevin.

Neo would survive.

And Neo would never come after him.

It was logical.

Chasing ’I’ would cripple Neo.

Neo had a far greater enemy to fight in the future: He Who Must Not Be Named.

Neo wouldn’t risk weakening himself.

That had been the reasoning.

’I’ had even prepared to stop Neo if he tried to ignore this logic.

He made it necessary for Neo to store people in his Cosmos.

Because if the universe regressed with those people inside him, the paradox would destroy the universe.

He revealed that Neo couldn’t afford to cripple himself because of the coming threat.

It was perfect logical for Neo to not fight ’I’.

’I’ had even extended a helping hand to help Neo revive everyone he cared about.

’This crazy bastard.’

’What kind of mindset does he have… to ignore the simplest, safest choice right in front of him?’

’I’ clenched his teeth as Neo regressed the universe past the billion-year mark.

Neo’s Existence was barely holding together.

The strain was obvious.

Even the Loan seemed to be reaching a limit.

But the moment where ’I’ had obtained the Eye of All Fate was also getting close.

’Dammit. I have to use my last card.’

He stepped forward and spoke through clenched teeth.

“Stop!”

Neo ignored him.

He kept pushing the universe backward.

Nothing slowed.

’I’ raised his voice. “Nothing will change even if you alter the past and take my eye! We have fought countless times already, and yet I still have the eye!”

Neo didn’t react.

His expression stayed cold and focused.

’I’ forced himself to continue. “I know you think I’m lying. And yes, a Heavenbreaker should remember if the past changes. But I can prove to you that you cannot take the Eye from me!”

Neo stayed silent.

He didn’t even blink.

’I’ felt frustration override his fear.

He cursed Neo under his breath, then made a choice he didn’t want to make.

He dropped the disguise he had worn since the beginning.

Black mist peeled away from his body.

An ant stood beneath it.

A humanoid figure made of broken carapaces and jagged, insect-like limbs.

Cracks ran through his body like old scars.

His mandibles twitched.

Neo finally reacted.

“You remember me, don’t you?” ’I’ said. “I’m Karax. Champion of the ant colony you and your brother destroyed at Voraka Site.”

Neo’s expression tightened.

“How is this possible? I don’t know,” Karax said with a small, bitter laugh. “My memories must have been twisted by the paradox.

“I don’t remember anything from before.

“But my existence is proof enough, isn’t it? I must’ve been furious after you wiped out my colony.”

He spread his arms slightly, the broken shell pieces scraping against each other.

“And somehow, I ended up gaining the Authority of Time from the Witch. With it, I went into the past… and obtained the Eye of All Fate. But somehow, I lost the Authority later, so I had to get it again, completing the cycle—”

“Did I ask?” Neo said suddenly.

Karax stopped mid-sentence.

“What?”

Karax stared at him, stunned.

His temper ran hot and he shouted, “You dare act like I’m in the wrong, when I only did to your friends what you did to my home?”

Neo frowned slightly.

“Are you retarded?”

The crass words stunned Karax.

He froze, mandibles trembling.

Truly, he couldn’t guess Heavenbreaker’s actions, words, or thoughts.

Neo continued, “Unlike you, I’m not proudly claiming my actions and saying it’s nothing wrong. I agree I attacked your home, but I regret it too. And for fuck’s sake, I don’t give a shit if we are both doing the same thing. I’m going to beat the shit out of you either way.”

Karax’s face twisted.

He wanted to answer with fury, with blame, with every accusation he’d rehearsed.

Neo ignored his anger.

He didn’t ask for soul fragments of his mother that Karax had taken away while running from Voraka Site.
