Chapter 3056: Steelheart’s Plan
Chapter 3056: Steelheart’s Plan
Nearly a hundred thousand years after the death of the previous Undying God, a new Undying God showed up on the battlefield, bringing with him a morale boost to the demons and a sheer wave of fear for the humans.
Everyone’s belief that there would be a new Undying God had come true, and with that came the terror that his name brought as well.
This Undying God was weaker than the previous one, at least—someone who struggled to win a fight against even Divinities. But every battle that included him usually became a battle of attrition, and as no one could ever fully kill him, he kept on escaping.
No one knew how to kill the Undying God, and the only person who had ever managed such a thing had long since died. People began searching for the Fiend’s techniques, which he used to kill the previous Undying God, but to their misfortune, all of Fiend’s techniques had died along with him.
The new Undying God wasn’t as frequent on the battlefield, but each time he arrived, he was a little stronger. More than that, he was gaining experience at the same time, becoming better and better.
His fighting style had changed too, according to the records. And while he had once fought as a man used to striking from the shadows, he quickly developed a fighting style where he charged in headfirst, thinking of the consequences later.
Understanding that he simply could not die helped a lot for the Undying God.
People believed the Fiend had to have done something with his power, which, as they understood, mainly focused on the Darkness aura, and began experimenting with those techniques.
While all of that happened, Steelmind stayed away from the battlefront, helping simply by making as many artifacts as he could. His artifact workshop had grown into an empire, taking in many other artifact makers whom he taught when he could.
It was relatively peaceful in his place in the Golden Dao realm, even though battles did take place out there at certain times.
Darkwater, the ship that had taken his parents to the Five Elemental Realm, had started its journey in the Golden Dao realm. Now that he had made his home here, it felt to him like he was fulfilling a destiny he was always supposed to.
So many things had changed since then that it was impossible to note them all down—the renaming of the Shadow Manifold realm to Fiend’s Sanctuary, the creation of Interrealm Teleportation formations, and even the death of the Undying God and the rise of another one.
A war that should have begun to slow down began raging once again, the embers given fuel by the enemy’s new god.
While he got much news through the grapevine, the best ones were always accompanied by Steelheart whenever he came to visit. The previous time he had come, he mentioned a formation master who was making waves. Before that, he had brought the news that the human armies had managed to take hold of both the floating Primordials, making them another base for the soldiers to gather and fight the war.
This time, he arrived with the news that someone had managed to escape from the inescapable prison called the Immortal Prison Realm and had been given the title of a God.
The newly emerged War God, who called himself Hell Emperor, had begun taking charge of armies, preparing for an all-out battle in hopes of defeating the demons once and for all.
If not that, he planned to at least end their demonic practices that kept churning out new Divinities.
While those news were surprising, and sometimes even shocking, the most shocking news he got from Steelheart had, in fact, been a simple one.
“I’m taking a step back from the war,” Steelheart said. “I think it’s about time I let the others help with it.”
Steelmind was rather surprised by the man’s sudden decision. “If that is what you want, then I will support you in that decision,” he said. “But are you sure?”
Steelheart smiled. “Look at me. Can you sense my cultivation base?” he asked.
Steelmind’s eyes narrowed. He scanned his brother’s cultivation base and didn’t find anything strange with it. It was weaker, as the man had only reached late Divine Creation realm, but that was because he had been on the frontline, and there one rarely got the time to cultivate.
In a way, Steelmind was the slow one, considering he had done nothing but spend his time in his workshop. He was also taking fewer and fewer requests now, giving only the VIPs his attention.
Anyone less worthy would have to go to his subordinates, who were all great in their own right.
“My cultivation base doesn’t show it unless you search for it, but the truth is, I’ve been wounded heavily,” he said. “During my last scouting mission, I took a spiritual wound that is a bit deeper than I had thought it was at the time.”
“I had some healers look at it and even took some pills to help me with it, but sadly, they couldn’t do much. As a result, I’m dying.”
Steelmind’s head went blank. “You’re… dying?” he asked.
Steelheart laughed. “Don’t be so surprised, and no need to be sad either. I’m dying, but it will still be a long while before I die. If I’m not wrong, I can live for another fifty thousand years easily, so long as I don’t take more damage to my soul. Fifty thousand years is a long lifetime to live.”
Steelmind’s heart sank at the thought of his lifelong brother having only fifty thousand more years to live, but he could say nothing else but smile.
“You’ve done well, Brother Steelheart. You deserve this rest. Do you want me to prepare a room in the workshop?” he asked.
“Actually, I was hoping to go somewhere else,” Steelheart said. “Away from the battlefield. I hear the Spirit Blossom Realm is quite safe, so I might be going there.”
Steelmind nodded slightly.
“I have people who distribute artifacts to that world safely. I’ll ask some to help take you there,” he said. “For now, come. Let us enjoy the time we have.”
