Chapter 2997: A Hasty Alchemist
Chapter 2997: A Hasty Alchemist
Memory flew out of Alex’s Soul Space, landing before him in the hall.
Scarlet’s mother blinked in surprise. “You should first allow me to explain what I mean by bad,” she said. “You should not be too hasty as an Alchemist.”
“There’s no need, Senior,” Alex said. “My pills never turn out bad.”
Instantly, Memory split into two more copies of herself, for a total of three. The three sets of ingredients each flew out of their individual boxes and packaging, and flew into each of the corresponding cauldrons where they were going to be made.
Scarlet’s mother had been ready to say something, but the sight of what was happening before her was far too surprising for her to speak now. Not only had one cauldron turned into three, Alex had placed all the ingredients immediately into them as well.
She had never seen someone do anything of this sort at all.
There were still more surprises to be had, as Alex had only just begun.
The moment the ingredients landed inside the cauldron, Alex instantly had them float in layers on the inside and then quickly separated each layer as its own individual space, so no ingredient could interact with another one.
He did so in all three cauldrons, and to his surprise, he barely noticed any issue with doing such a thing. He had expected some mental pushback, but none came. He had improved far too much in the past few centuries that what he was doing now was nothing more than a piece of cake.
Alex’s attention spread into each of the dozens of layers, grabbing onto each of the ingredients. At the same time, he used the True Fire Dao to start heating up the cauldron at separate temperatures for each layer of ingredients.
This task was much harder as he had to not only keep his focus on the temperature, but also make sure that the heat from each layer wasn’t extending over to the other layers.
While he had separated the space inside the cauldron, the cauldron itself was still one whole.
Thankfully, Memory wasn’t just a simple cauldron to stand by and watch. She came to his aid, limiting the amount of heat transfer in her own body, allowing Alex to freely do the rest.
Alex had pushed his mental capacity to quite a high degree today, but it still hadn’t reached the peak. There was still something else he could do.
So, with his final usage of his Intent, he forced a Dao of Temporal Swiftness around him and the cauldron, making time move much faster for him and Memory than it did for the ones outside.
From his perspective, the others had come to a near stop.
Having vastly improved his understanding of the Dao of Time back in Hell, Alex found himself able to shift the rate of time by nearly 1/10th of the original speed.
He couldn’t help but smile at his own improvement.
Without waiting any further, Alex immediately got to making the pill. Each of the dozens of ingredients moved at a certain speed in their required direction, the temperature surrounding them tuned to their individual needs.
They ground against the side of the metal, the heat and friction slowly turning them into powder as the energy released from their material filled the space within the layers.
Within what felt like no more than half a minute to him, Alex managed to turn each and every ingredient into powder, with their energy now free to be mixed.
Then, one by one, he got rid of the layers of space at the rate that was required, mixing them with practiced precision. The powder fell to the bottom of the cauldron.
Once all the energy was combined to form one final amalgamation, Alex used his pill-forming technique on all three cauldrons at once, turning the powder into a bead, while the vortex above it dragged the energy into the bead to form a pill.
The moment each pill was formed, Alex no longer had a need to keep up the bubble of Temporal Swiftness, so he let go of it.
As time flowed normally again, he felt through his understanding of Temporal Awareness that while he had experienced the passing of about a minute or so, only seven seconds had truly passed.
From placing his ingredients into the cauldron to forming the pill, no more than ten seconds had passed.
In ten seconds, Alex had made three pills.
But, they were not satisfactory at all. Fresh chapters posted on novel-fire.et
The first pill had a Harmony of 84%, the second 85%, and the third 92%.
Scarlet’s mother cackled at the result. “You should have let me continue speaking,” she said. “This is what happens when you are far too confident. Had you bothered to check, I would’ve told you the ingredients were bad. I was trying to test you to see how you would resolve this issue.”
Alex looked at her, his face devoid of any emotions. “I knew that,” he said. “I’m not such a bad Alchemist that I cannot recognize bad ingredients, Senior.”
Scarlet’s mother paused. “Then why did you continue? You ended up making such bad pills for someone who claimed himself to be the best Alchemist of the generation.”
A small smile tugged on the side of Alex’s lips. “End? This is not the end, Senior,” he said, raising his palm forward. “I am not done yet.”
The first pill flew out of the cauldron and into his palm.
Scarlet’s mother narrowed her eyes, having not the slightest clue as to what was going to happen next. The same was true of both Scarlet’s grandfather and Bai Jingshen, who hadn’t yet seen Alex do such a thing.
Alex closed his fist around the pill and almost instantly the three Divinities sensed an immense amount of energy flow out of his body. It only lasted a few seconds, however, which confused them.
But then, Alex slowly raised his fist up into the sky, and as he did, they heard rumblings in the sky.
There was a Pill Cloud forming right above them.
