Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 822: Limitless Continent?

Chapter 822: Limitless Continent?

Cedric sent one of his three clones inside the Unstable Heavenly Domain to see what the calling was about. And since his breakthrough just passed and he doesn’t have that much work to do in the office, he could fully attend to the matter.

Upon getting there, he saw that everything remained relatively the same within. The Unstable Heavenly Domain was still as weird and as fractured as he remembered it.

Strange law phenomena still occurred everywhere, each one filled with the weird and observable charm of concept laws, and with the absence of the Supreme Will here, anyone could directly stare at its very structure without being afraid of retaliation.

The calling he felt, though, didn’t come from any of these strange phenomena.

It led him somewhere deeper, closer to the very core of the domain.

Cedric has already explored every corner of this place during his free time. He had seen all kinds of things here, and he remained indifferent about them. So, he wasn’t really expecting much.

Still, he followed the calling. And like he expected, it really took him to the very depths of the Unstable Heavenly Domain.

What he didn’t expect, though, was him seeing a new thing he hadn’t seen before.

’What in the world…? ’

He was confused. He’s not standing before a massive archway with a swirling portal at its center.

Cedric has never seen this here before. He could swear that he had scoured every corner of this domain, and this was definitely the first time he saw this here.

How did this appear here? Where does it lead? Is it dangerous? Should I go in?

All of these questions swirled in his mind. But despite his hesitation, one thing was for sure…

The calling he’s feeling? It’s coming from the other side of this thing. And now that he’s standing here, he feels it even more strongly.

It didn’t just call out to him; it’s compelling him to go in.

’Well, this is just a clone, whatever! ’

Cedric wasn’t one to be reckless, but since he’s only sending a clone through, he wasn’t truly worried. Therefore, after a brief hesitation, he decided to walk in anyway.

Swoosh!!

He felt a strong pull as soon as he touched the portal. The pull was irresistible. It left an impression that, even if he did his best to resist, he’d be helpless against it anyway.

So, he didn’t. He stopped resisting. The pull was strong, yes, but it wasn’t harsh to the point that it stretched his clone’s body dangerously.

The pull lasted for a while. Cedric kept his eyes peeled, watching as everything around him turned into a blur.

After what felt like hours, he saw the other side. And with a loud POP! He was spat out unceremoniously. If he hadn’t prepared himself, he would’ve definitely ended up in a compromising position after he got spat out by the portal.

But he landed on his feet, and the first thing he did was to scan his surroundings for any immediate threat.

Swoosh!

His sensory field unfolded, and immediately, the first thing he saw was the extremely rich and dense concept law energies around here. After that, he discovered that he’s in some kind of a civilization.

He saw traces of life and infrastructure around him; most had faded, broken, old, or ruined, but all were obvious.

Once upon a time, people lived here. Definitely.

And from the size and variety of the traces he saw, he boldly assumed that this was an old human civilization. Abandoned and left behind.

’But why? ’

There was vegetation around too. He saw patches of grass, trees, bushes, etc. But most of them have dried up or wilted. Some were yellow, lifeless, or barely clinging to existence. Others have long since turned to ashes, scattered by the wind.

The ground was dry, cracked, and parched. The skies were gray and gloomy; the breeze was dry and harsh, too.

No other living being was in sight. At least not within his sensory range.

By the way, this place was huge. His sensory field wasn’t restricted at all, and since reaching the Heavenly Venerate Realm, his field’s range has extended enormously.

Cedric could cover the entirety of the Rising Sun Domain with his sensory field without straining. If he wanted to, he could push it to extend, but he never thought about doing it.

Back to the point…with his sensory range this wide, he could see a lot. But strangely enough, all he saw was the long expanse of desolation around him.

The land and the sky seemingly stretch out limitlessly. Cedric knew he wasn’t just seeing things; the immense and, frankly, absurd range of his sensory field couldn’t even cover the entirety of this land and couldn’t pierce the sky.

It’s like he’s confined here. But he already confirmed that he wasn’t. This world…or continent, more like, was just that huge.

’Where the hell am I? ’

’Am I still in the Primitive Universe? ’

That’s the question, isn’t it? Because Cedric was very sure that this continent isn’t anywhere near the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm. He confirmed this through his estimation of how far the clone was from his real body.

Spoilers: it’s very far. So far that Cedric can’t even imagine how long it’d take for him to get here through normal means, FTL travel included.

Additionally, he has never heard of a landmass or a continent this huge.

Again, his sensory range could cover the entirety of the Rising Sun Domain, which had five small cosmic realms close to each other, taking up a fraction of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm.

He could see everything and feel everyone inside that range, and distance doesn’t delay his reaction time, either. That’s how absurd his sensory field was.

But here? Even after he strained to extend the range of his sensory field, he still failed to sense the edge of this continent or even see what’s beyond the sky. Which made him feel confined here, for some reason.

’No, seriously. Where the hell am I? ’ Cedric asked nobody in particular; it’s just his way of coping with the absurdity of it all.

The worst part is that the entrance behind him disappeared as soon as it spat him out. Cedric already sent another clone to the Unstable Heavenly Realm to see if the archway portal was still there, but it no longer was.

This meant that his clone was stuck here. He now has to find a way out of this place at some point. Which might be troublesome given what he knew so far.

The good news is, the calling was still there. It’s coming from a distance, which is weird because before arriving here, he could’ve sworn that it was so strong that it was nearly irresistible, yet now it’s distant again.

That said, what other choice was there for him? This land was so barren that there’s really nothing much for him to see. Furthermore, this land was so large and the sky was so high that he couldn’t even see the end.

He’s lost. And the only guiding force he had was that calling. So it wasn’t really much of a choice now, was it?

And so, he decided to follow it.

He took large strides toward its direction. Each stride took him far. He’s like a skipping rock; only the distance he covers could easily take him from one solar system to the next.

There was no day or night cycle here, just perpetual gloom and desolation. But Cedric did count the hours through his real body and his other clones and discovered that he’s been walking for more than two weeks now, nonstop.

He must’ve covered enough distance to do double-digit laps around his territory; only then did he feel the calling stronger and closer.

At some point, he had travelled enough distance to see some changes in his surroundings. And the very first thing he saw was a large mountain up ahead.

However, the closer he got, he realized that he saw it wrongly.

It wasn’t a mountain. It’s a massive Stonehenge floating in the sky. It was so big that it’s larger than most planets he had seen.

The stone henge were arranged in a triangular shape; each stone pillar emitted a strange radiance that distorted the light. It’s on an elevated landmass, and the distortion around it is what made him think that he’s looking at a mountain.

Once he got closer to it, he was able to see it even more clearly. Each stone pillar was connected by large chains—ones that were filled with runic inscriptions Cedric was unable to understand.

What’s stranger is that once he was close enough, he was able to see the sky above Stonehenge changing.

He saw what seemed to be stairways that stretched far beyond the sky, hidden by the swirling dark clouds above.

As much as he tried, Cedric failed to see through it. There was a mysterious force blocking his range.

And now that he’s so close to it, the calling is so strong that he feels even more compelled to go.

In fact, he could even hear it…

“Come, warrior.”

“Come and test your mettle…”
