Chapter 167 - 166: Dear, Control Your Drool
He Yushu didn’t dwell on the matter, much to Chu Liangyu’s relief. She was about to pull back her comforting hand, but he caught it unexpectedly.
Chu Liangyu raised an eyebrow at him, saying nothing. The look on her face said it all.
He Yushu saw her questioning look and felt his actions were a bit improper. He let go of her hand, averted his gaze, and said, "They should be at the edge of the scrub forest by now. Female Master, where do you plan to house them?"
"Have them stay in the empty rooms on the west side. I’ll arrange for someone to guard them for the time being."
’I’ll deal with the souls from the Otherworld tonight,’ Chu Liangyu decided after a moment’s thought. ’But what happens after they recover? Sending them back is a must, but there’s no rush. Having some of the tribe’s people escort them home should work.’
"Female Master, we’re back!"
Just as she was thinking, a group of people approached from a distance, led by none other than Jinling and Yu He.
The people trailing behind them were ashen-faced, the panic and fear in their eyes impossible to conceal.
With Yu He, a Beastman who could control minds with his singing, they couldn’t have escaped even if they tried.
On top of that, to make good time, their captors had forced them to march for three days and three nights without rest.
Their own legs wouldn’t even obey them. After walking for who knows how long, they finally arrived at an unfamiliar tribe.
One glance at the captives was all it took for Chu Liangyu to understand why her men had been so efficient.
This was exactly what she wanted, however, so she didn’t comment on it. Instead, she said, "You’ve worked hard. Settle them in the empty rooms to the west, and then you can go rest."
Jinling and Yu He exchanged a glance but said nothing, simply nodding in assent. "Understood, Female Master. We’ll get right on it."
They had returned at the perfect time, just as the training session was ending.
In moments, the training grounds had all but emptied. He Yushu glanced around, preparing to leave as well.
"He Yushu, wait. Come back to my courtyard with me. I’ll help you upgrade your bloodline."
Chu Liangyu’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was clear enough for the few people who hadn’t left yet to hear.
Jinling and Yu He had both been through it before. The moment they heard this, their feet seemed glued to the ground, unable to move.
In unison, they looked up at Chu Liangyu, undisguised anticipation written all over their faces.
He Yushu, oblivious, wasn’t in a hurry. "It can wait until you’re free, Female Master," he said. "I’m not in any rush."
"I’m free now. If we delay it, who knows when I’ll have time again."
’Of course, I have experience now,’ Chu Liangyu thought. ’There won’t be another accident with the Creation Power like last time.’
Chu Liangyu saw the looks on the other two’s faces and knew exactly what was on their minds.
’They’re my Beast Husbands, so it’s only natural for them to want to be close to me. I just don’t feel that way about them.’
So, she explained, "What happened last time was sudden. I was a bit inexperienced. It won’t happen again this time."
While they felt a pang of disappointment at the missed opportunity, seeing that their "rival" would miss out too made that feeling all but disappear.
"What mistake? I’m a little confused."
He Yushu looked completely baffled. His gaze darted between the three of them before he couldn’t resist asking Chu Liangyu.
"There was no mistake. You misheard."
Chu Liangyu grabbed his arm and pulled him along, completely ignoring his question.
Halfway there, she stopped again and turned to Xiong Jiaojiao, who was standing nearby. "Jiaojiao, find some people to guard those they just brought back."
Xiong Jiaojiao had been standing quietly to the side. Seeing Chu Liangyu drag her Beast Husband away, she had been debating whether to follow.
But now that she had a task, her hesitation vanished. She nodded emphatically. "Alright. You go on ahead, Sister Liangyu."
The version of her with He Yushu was a clone, after all, and Chu Liangyu couldn’t perform the upgrade through it. So, she had him wait in the courtyard for a moment. After swapping places with the clone, she let He Yushu inside.
Two meditation cushions lay on the floor inside the room. Chu Liangyu pointed to them and said, "Pick one and sit down cross-legged."
Chu Liangyu had already considered what caused the... situation last time.
Her conclusion was that it was due to the poison on the hidden needles. The toxin was meant to destroy one’s bloodline and cause their blood vessels to rupture.
When it encountered the Creation Power Chu Liangyu was channeling, the poison began to run wild. As the Creation Power worked to suppress the toxin, it was simultaneously forced into a certain... unmentionable area.
Although the poison was neutralized, their desires were inflamed. Chu Liangyu had been left with no choice but to use her energy to help them disperse the concentrated Creation Power that they couldn’t resolve on their own.
This time, with no external factors at play, Chu Liangyu easily channeled the Creation Power through his meridians to his heart.
Almost instantly, He Yushu’s body reacted. It felt as if his very bones and blood were boiling, and excruciating pain shot through his entire being.
But perhaps out of pride, He Yushu bit his lip so hard he didn’t make a single sound.
If not for the cold sweat constantly trickling down his neck, Chu Liangyu might have thought she’d made another mistake.
"Hold on. It’ll be over once the pain subsides."
After she had channeled the energy, the rest was up to him to endure.
She rose from her cushion. Seeing he’d bitten his lip until it bled, she glanced around and snatched a rag from the table.
Without a thought for whether it was clean, she shoved it right into He Yushu’s mouth.
A rag is used for wiping things down. Even a clean one is bound to have a bit of a smell.
He Yushu’s eyes flew open, and he stared at her, letting out a few muffled sounds. He wanted to ask what this was, but he couldn’t form the words.
"I’m guessing you don’t want to become a mute. You’re lucky to have anything to bite down on, so don’t be so picky."
’She recalled when Hu Qiumu had been struck by the poisoned needles; he had suffered the same unbearable pain during the infusion of Creation Power. To stop Hu Qiumu from biting his tongue, I had to use the claw from a nearby enemy’s corpse. Compared to that, He Yushu’s treatment is practically luxurious.’
Chu Liangyu thought her words would get him to settle down, but to her surprise, he reached up and yanked the rag out of his mouth, tossing it aside.
SPIT, SPIT! He looked utterly aggrieved.
Chu Liangyu coughed, feeling a bit awkward, just as he grabbed her wrist.
The sharp pain she expected never came—only the chattering of his trembling teeth against her skin.
He didn’t want to hurt her, but he couldn’t control himself. And since he certainly didn’t want his mouth full of the taste of a dusty rag, this was the only other option.
"Try to control your drool. It’s getting on my hand."
At her words, He Yushu froze completely. For that one instant, he even forgot the pain wracking his body.
His movements were sluggish, but he still turned his head with grim determination to look down at Chu Liangyu’s wrist.
