Death... and me

Chapter 3957: Talk a Little Bit

Chapter 3957: Talk a Little Bit

The thing about Zangeshu looking more ’mature’ was just the changes Rean had made. Zangeshu had to look like a kid back then, but now, Zangeshu is supposed to be over sixty, so there was no reason to hide his real appearance anymore. It was pretty much the same thing for Rean, Roan, and the others.

Nonetheless, his presence there highly puzzled President Bugel. What did he have to do with Wisfreya at all? Perhaps he was also a disciple of this so-called master that Wisfreya got?

---

Back in the Divine Military Academy, Kentucky was curious about the situation and couldn’t help but go see Rean. "You really let Zangeshu go? Wasn’t he the best Formations Master Disciple you could ever hope for? You always talked about how his precision was even better than yours."

Rean sighed in response. He obviously knew that. "Well, what exactly do you want me to do? Tell him to stay or force him? I was just as shocked when I heard him say that he would go with her."

Sister Orb was there too. [Hey, don’t act all that surprised. If it were Qia, would you have left her?]

"Hum..." Rean pondered a bit. "Well, I did leave her several times, didn’t I? Of course, that’s because I had no other choice. I couldn’t bring her with us while we were on our journey to unify the two sides of the Lisan Universe."

[Exactly. Zangeshu is different. He doesn’t really have any special mission he has to complete at all costs. You left Qia because if the Lisan Universe were destroyed, she would die too, and so would your daughter. Once again, Zangeshu doesn’t have that kind of problem. First of all, there isn’t really a need for him to leave the Werdlem Empire. The Lisan Universe is far, far behind the Werdlem Empire when it comes to its technological development. I refuse to believe he would still follow you when that time came.]

"Fine, I get it," said Rean. "I’m just annoyed that I had never noticed that Zangeshu and Wisfreya had a relationship. I’m even more annoyed that it was important enough that he decided to give up following us to stay with her. I truly thought he considered his formations, inscriptions, and talismans more important than anything else."

"But that was truly the case," Kentucky added. "It only changed after he met Wisfreya. I mean, I’ve never been in love before, but since even Roan can put everything on the line for Calina, it is not that hard to believe Zangeshu could give up everything else for Wisfreya, right?"

Rean looked at Kentucky, finding that argument very good. "Now that you said that, it does seem very plausible. Oh well, as his master, I obviously want him to be happy too."

[It is not too bad.] Sister Orb noticed something else. [Did you forget? Zangeshu is truly a person born in the Werdlem Universe. Sure, he came from an F-ranked Universe, but it is still the Werdlem Empire. He never had any need for the covers. When Caladara called you out, she didn’t seem to have any interest in him since he wasn’t a Balance Breaker.]

Kentucky agreed with her. "Indeed. Also, this Rank A Universe, A1, only loses to the Werdlem Main Universe itself. Zangeshu might be staying with Wisfreya, but he sure won’t lose much by doing so now that he is here. All the opportunities he could ever wish for can be found here, too. Cultivation, knowledge, resources, you name it. In fact, even we wouldn’t want to leave this place if not for our special situation and those we left behind back in Lisan Universe."

"Hum... I guess that’s also true." Rean couldn’t find a hole in that logic. "Besides, Wisfreya is only going back to Verjansy to help them rebuild, to repay their favour. She definitely won’t stay there forever, and when she decides to leave, she will leave with Zangeshu. Yes, you are right. This is as good a situation as Zangeshu could ever hope for. Even better, considering his personality, I’ve never thought he would care about something like love in his life, but I’m happy I was wrong."

[The only question is whether he would be looked into once we disappear. After all, he was part of our group.]

Rean shrugged. "Zangeshu is just like Roan, an exceptionally meticulous man. He definitely understands that, and I highly doubt he took this action without a plan. He will be fine."

"Just one thing," Kentucky didn’t forget Zangeshu’s contributions. "You got used to having Tanxan and Zangeshu working with you. Many of the System Armor upgrades were developed by the three of you together. Won’t you miss his inputs?"

"Of course!" Rean wasn’t an idiot. He knew how good a disciple Zangeshu truly was. "Still, I also knew I wouldn’t have Zangeshu by my side until the end of time. He would eventually leave, especially since his motivation was what I could teach him. Once I had nothing else to teach him anymore, he would leave anyway."

"That was something I was always aware of. But, at the same time, I was doing well without him before, and I can still do so now. Tanxan should stay with us until we at least leave the Werdlem Empire, so I still have his help as well."

[Well, it is good that you came to terms with this. By the way, when did he come talk to you about it? Or better, he seemed very angry that Wisfreya was leaving, saying she was losing the best opportunities of her life, so how did he change his mind?]

"I’m actually more curious about how their relationship even started..." Rean pondered a bit. "At no point during our time together with Wisfreya did he show any special interactions with the girl."

"For that, I have the answer," it was then that Foliana arrived.

’And so do I,’ naturally, Tony, the Artifact Spirit of Foliana’s Werdlem Divine Stone was there too.

"Hum?" Rean, Kentucky, and Sister Orb looked at them. "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t comment about this?"

"Yes, because they were here," Foliana added. "Come on, I’m a girl. I like a good gossip. Now that they are gone, I might as well talk a little bit about it."
