Death... and me

Chapter 3938: Last Effort

Chapter 3938: Last Effort

Initially, the Golden Light area extended thousands of kilometers. However, the smaller the Golden Sphere became, the smaller that area did too. By now, half of the Golden Sphere’s Energy was gone, and Celis made sure it lost a lot more than it was using with its attacks.

Thanks to that, the Golden Light area had already diminished in size to less than a thousand kilometers, and that’s also why Foliana was able to arrive to Kentucky in time to help. Well, if push came to shove, Kentucky would have immediately burnt his Celestial Bloodline to escape that situation, but that would have weakened him by quite a large amount. It was still a very good thing Foliana helped.

There was another good thing about the Golden Light Area becoming smaller. They got to Tanxan and Zangeshu faster!

[Here we are!]

Rean and Roan saw Zangeshu and Tanxa, both guys, in two different locations. They didn’t stop, flashing past those two through the middle and continuing to flee into the distance. Foliana and Kentucky obviously did the same.

Yet, the exact moment the Golden Sphere tried to follow them through that path, Tanxan and Zangeshu made their move.

"Now!"

The formation that the two of them had prepared in advance was immediately activated.

The Runes rose from the ground, and the area around the Golden Sphere was inundated by a massive concentration of the five mainstream elements. As that happened, many of the runes began to break one after another.

Zangeshu and Tanxan didn’t have much time to prepare this formation, so they completely gave up thinking about stability and resistance. This formation had only one objective: to use all the accumulated power to attack the Golden Sphere in the few seconds it would be working.

Those elements took many different forms, but they all shot in the Golden Sphere’s direction. Even its energy ribbons with eyes couldn’t stop them all, and the Golden Sphere was inundated by the elemental attacks!

*Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...*

*Kabrum, kabrum, kabrum...*

The Celestial Laws of the core were obviously used even more, and it worked to stop those elemental attacks from causing damage to it. However, this also caused the Golden Sphere to cease its attacks against the twins’ group.

Rean and Roan immediately turned around, now with just a few of those ribbons aiming at them. They dodged everything and once again appeared on both sides of the Golden Sphere, their Light and Dark Element fully charged together with their Red Lightning.

’Red Death and Life, Seventh Form, Crimson Sun and Moon Obliteration!’

*BOOOM!*

The Formation, Rean and Roan’s attacks, and Celis Domains forced the Golden Sphere’s Core to use all its Celestial Laws and Energy to defend itself.

But wasn’t that just what Celis needed?

His vines and roots immediately created a huge dome around the Golden Sphere while Rean, Roan, Zangeshu, and Tanxan kept the barrage of attacks.

’Divine Energy Draining Prison!’

With that, Celis completely isolated the outside world from the inside. There would be no Divine or Divine Origin Energy reaching the Golden Sphere anymore. Of course, that was Celis we were talking about, so that effect only worked on the Golden Sphere. Rean and the others still had access to all the energy they could use.

Kentucky finally recovered enough to not need Foliana’s help, and the two also returned to the battle. They entered Celis’s Prison and intensified the barrage of attacks against the Golden Sphere. The formation wouldn’t last long, and they had to use that opportunity.

Its energy quickly depleted. The Golden Sphere disappeared, leaving the core exposed, which lost almost all its Celestial Laws in just a few moments, trying to preserve itself. But then...

’Get out!’ Celis’s voice echoed in everyone’s heads.

No one would ignore Celis’s warning, and they all shot out of the Divine Energy Draining Prison. Even Celis let go of his roots and vines, detaching himself from them and flying away.

Inside, the Golden Core suddenly compressed itself to a tiny, tiny space, not even a thousandth of its original size. Although it didn’t have anywhere near as much energy as it had before, it still had much more than the twins’ group combined. When it noticed it was going to disappear, it changed its approach. It was going to self-detonate!

Too bad it had no intelligence, so how could it account for Celis’s amazing Energy Sensitivity? By the time it finished reaching a critical point, the twins’ group was already quite far away. Nonetheless, the explosion couldn’t be stopped.

*Ziu... BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!*

A golden sun suddenly illuminated everything tens of thousands of kilometers away! Just the explosion alone was several hundred kilometers wide! The shockwave still caught up to the twins’ group, but they managed to resist it as they fled the area.

A few seconds later, the Golden Light area also disappeared completely, and now only a ginormous mushroom cloud could be seen in the distance, a golden one.

It might not look much at the twins’ group level. After all, any one of them could easily destroy an entire planet in the Mortal Realm of other Universes. Here in A1, however, that was truly a terrifying explosion.

Once again, the fabric of space here is extremely stable, and the huge concentration of both Divine and Divine Origin Energy in the air made it even more so. Simply put, even if Rean and Roan merged together and used the Sun and Moon Obliteration, that attack still would have paled in comparison to that explosion just now.

---

A few minutes later, several Spatial Gates began to appear one after another. The few Divinity Realm Experts from Vous came to check, followed by many Space-Time Realm ones.

Of course, the twins’ group was long gone. They all used their own Spatial Gates, returning to their own mission sites. Well, Roan wasn’t on a mission at the start, so he just returned to the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm.

They obviously had a lot to discuss about what just happened. The Golden Sphere was obviously targeting them. But... was it sent by someone? If so, how come no one appeared while they fought it? First of all, did anyone know about their real strength? Those were questions that they would need to look for answers to.

Kentucky received a message from Suliao, telling his academy’s group where to gather. Because of the fight, he obviously ended up being the last one to get to the meeting point, far from the city where the Golden Sphere monster appeared.

"You’re late!" Suliao immediately complained. But then, he noticed the injury on Kentucky’s back. "Wait, you..."

Kentucky bitterly smiled. He kept the injury open on purpose as an extra excuse for taking this long. "I’m happy I’m alive at all. One of those explosions happened close to me, and I was sent flying like a ragged doll. It took me a while to simply get up again. Fortunately, that senior earlier lured the monster away from the city."

Everyone looked at Kentucky’s back, narrowing their eyes. Kentucky’s race wasn’t a secret to anyone. And after he showed the highest level of Golden Radiance, pretty much everyone took a look at what kind of abilities Minokawas had. They knew Kentucky had much higher defenses than any of them, and even among Demon Beasts, Minokawas were close to the top when it came to defense. For him to be injured to that point means that they would have likely died in his place.

Drora took the chance to ask. "What happened after that?"

"I don’t know," Kentucky shook his head. "I definitely wouldn’t go after that monster to check the outcome. However, it left a trail of death behind. Millions died, no doubt."

Drora nodded slightly, turning to Suliao. "We should return to the Runia Continent. It was way too much of a coincidence that that thing appeared while we were there. We might be accused of attracting that thing."

And he was right. Kentucky’s presence attracted it. Kentucky wouldn’t tell him that.

"No," Suliao refused. "We need to meet the Prime Minister again straight away. He must understand we had nothing to do with it. Forget the deal; our priority is to not be accused of causing this event. As the Envoy, I must take this risk."

Drora and Suliao’s other experts narrowed their eyes, but Suliao was the boss there. Suimarlo was on Drora’s side, but above all, the mission had to be completed, so he had to stay with Suliao as well, and that included Kentucky and the other members of the Divine Military Exchange Program.

Drora thought for a moment, deciding to go. "Alright. But if things take a turn for the worse, I’m leaving."

"Thank you." Suliao was relieved. "Alright, get ready. I’ll contact the Prime Minister, then we will meet him wherever he decides to."

---

Kentucky wasn’t paying much attention to that, though. That’s because he began to discuss with the rest of the twins’ group what had just happened.
