Chapter 92: Chapter 89: Stone Monster

THUMP... THUMP... THUMP...

The footsteps were tremendous.

They carried an overwhelming, crushing force that shook the entire hull of the ship, making it sway precariously.

Wilson’s attention was completely fixed on Chen Xing; he ignored what felt like an earthquake.

’Is Chen Xing a top agent from Huaxia?’ he wondered.

’Otherwise, the Song Family Army wouldn’t be acting so deferential toward her.’

’Or... is she the Princess of Huaxia’s ruler?’

’That has to be it. Why else would they be so eager to please her?’

’But... what about all those bodies on my ship? If she were a Princess, would her fighting skills really need to be that incredible?’

’A Princess wouldn’t have to handle everything herself, after all.’

Wilson stared at Chen Xing, his eyes wide with disbelief, as if he had just discovered a new world.

The next second, a boulder-like behemoth dropped from above, landing squarely on Wilson’s sturdy frame.

His solid build was instantly crushed flat.

He never even got the chance to ask Chen Xing if she was Agent 00007, let alone ask where his cannons had gone.

Chen Xing had been standing right across from him, the original target of the massive boulder. But she was too nimble; the moment she heard the sound, she instantly sidestepped.

The bad luck fell upon Wilson, who was standing directly in its path.

As the massive boulder landed, everyone instinctively covered their noses and mouths.

A corrosive stench erupted, making it difficult to even breathe.

What looked like a ’massive boulder’ was, in fact, a humanoid figure the size of an adult hippopotamus.

It was called humanoid because it had five facial features.

Although its arms and legs were rather short and seemed useless on its massive body, it still possessed all four limbs.

Its torso took up the vast majority of its mass, making it look just like a boulder from a distance.

The dizzying stench emanated from its body.

Even Meng Hu couldn’t stand the smell. It immediately sensed the hostility and was about to lunge forward and bite, but Chen Xing stopped it just in time.

The lummox’s movements were extremely clumsy. It had crushed someone to death without even realizing, merely sensing something was propping it up from below before taking another step forward.

Its movement was like an earthquake, making even the sturdy ship’s hull unsteady.

Everyone was speechless. All of them, including Chen Xing, gasped, then immediately broke into a coughing fit.

They saw that the upper half of Wilson’s flattened body was already charred, and wisps of smoke rose as it mixed with the misty air.

Realizing they couldn’t touch its body, the group simultaneously gathered their superpowers and began attacking the Stone Monster.

However, when their superpowers struck the Stone Monster, they seemed to lose all effect, causing no damage whatsoever.

The superpowers seemed to only make the Stone Monster’s body itch. Annoyed, it leaped into the air and came crashing down on the soldiers in front of it.

The soldiers, however, were agile. Seeing the massive Stone Monster attack, they swiftly dodged out of the way.

Meanwhile, soldiers on the other side moved quickly to draw the Stone Monster’s attention, giving their teammates a chance to get clear.

"How are we supposed to kill this thing?" Wen Yan asked in astonishment as he emerged from the ship’s cabin and took in the scene.

He was the youngest in the Song Family Army, having just turned eighteen this year. He had been specially recruited because of his superpower.

Although he hadn’t been in many fights, he had seen his fair share of action, so he remained relatively calm.

While they couldn’t kill the monster, the barrage of superpower attacks kept it pinned down, making the situation temporarily safe.

"Where did this monster come from? It’s impervious to everything, practically unkillable!" Even the veteran Captain Lu and the top-tier superpower user, Vice General Du, had never seen anything like it. "If we keep this up, the monster won’t get us—the stench will!"

The stench was unbearable, even more potent than the foulest sewer.

"Look out!" Chen Xing shouted. Just as she spoke, another Stone Monster leaped from a distance and landed on the deck. It was even bigger than the first one.

The section of the deck where it landed buckled downward.

Immediately after, two more leaped onto the deck in quick succession, sending up a huge splash that drenched everyone.

Everyone was speechless.

This time, they didn’t dare be careless.

Getting touched by one of these things meant getting severely burned.

And as the number of monsters grew, the smell... don’t even get them started.

It was enough to make the battle-hardened soldiers’ eyes water, blurring their vision.

Having hidden among hordes of zombie corpses in her past life, Chen Xing was the one best able to withstand it.

Though she had never seen this specific type of monster before, she knew that at the end of the day, they were all products of human mutation. They had to have a weakness.

"Everyone, spread out!" Chen Xing shouted, then tossed a grenade onto the smallest of the Stone Monsters.

A moment later, with a deafening BOOM, the seemingly indestructible monster was blasted into dust.

But... anyone splattered by the dust was in for a world of hurt. A searing pain shot through them, though luckily it was only a small area.

"Swiped it from the ship earlier!" Chen Xing explained when she saw people staring at her. "Keep spreading out..."

The Stone Monsters showed no reaction to their comrade’s death, continuing to attack their targets with rigid movements.

Chen Xing continued to toss grenades while signaling for everyone to get as far away as possible. Anyone caught in the collateral damage would just have to accept their fate.

The soldiers used their superpowers to restrain the monsters’ movements while trying to escape off the ship.

Only Vice General Du ran in the opposite direction. Reaching the ship’s entrance, he yelled, "Wen Yan, into the warehouse!"

They had managed to retrieve some of their supplies, but the vast majority was still on the ship and had to be recovered.

Hearing the order, Wen Yan, who had already reached the edge of the ship, immediately turned and ran back.

Just then, another explosion rang out. Being so close, he was about to be engulfed by the corrosive dust.

Suddenly, a large, door-like panel appeared over his head, shielding him while simultaneously pushing him toward the cabin entrance.

Everyone was dumbstruck.

Chen Xing’s slender arms were holding the wooden plank aloft, blocking all of the dust.

But that wasn’t the main point!

The point was, she had originally been standing near the cabin, at least dozens of meters away from Wen Yan.

What was even more incredible was that she had not only appeared in front of Wen Yan in the blink of an eye, but had also somehow managed to pick up a wooden plank along the way...

Wen Yan didn’t have time to thank her. The ship was already shaking violently, and the explosions had started a huge fire on deck.

They had to retrieve the supplies they’d left behind before the fire consumed the entire vessel.

Chen Xing didn’t know how the two of them planned to get so much stuff out, so she followed them inside, curious.

The fire was large, but it would still be a few minutes before it spread to the main hull.

’For someone like me with a dimensional storage space,’ she thought, ’a few minutes is enough time to grab a lot of things.’

The three of them headed straight for the storage warehouse.

Upon entering the warehouse, the two men made a beeline for their own cargo.

’Does he have a dimensional storage space, just like me? That’s what I’m most concerned about!’
