Chapter 68: King of Beasts
Chapter 68: Chapter 68: King of Beasts
This was a goddamn mess.
Hundreds of people, and not a single one had tried to escape. What did that mean?
It meant the Migratory Clan’s methods were so vicious that these people had completely given up on resisting or even struggling.
Even if the main gate were wide open, not a single person would dare try to run out.
’Forget it.’
Chen Xing knew she couldn’t rely on these people. She would have to rely on herself!
She ducked into a blind spot and, with a wave of her hand, Meng Hu leaped out in front of her.
Meng Hu had been getting clingier lately. Now was the time to see what it could really do.
Receiving Chen Xing’s command, Meng Hu instantly transformed from an adorable pet into a ferocious beast, charging straight at the group of people running up the mountain from below.
It was dark, so their line of sight was limited to their immediate surroundings.
By the time they saw Meng Hu, it was already just a few meters away. It opened its great maw and let out a deafening roar.
The aggressive men instantly lost their nerve. They even forgot to open fire, scattering in all directions.
This was not the well-behaved little pet from her dimension that begged for cuddles; this was the king of beasts.
Majestic and ferocious, it took a head with every bite.
With Meng Hu blocking the path, Chen Xing immediately ran toward the back of the mountain.
Up on the back of the mountain, two factions had formed.
One was led by Wu Jiran, who argued that they couldn’t trust Chen Xing and had to go down the mountain. "Didn’t you hear that roar? It’s chaotic down there right now. It’s safest for us to escape while we can."
The other faction consisted of Sister Feng, Qiao Qiao, and others. "Can’t you all just hide quietly? Chen Xing told us to hide and wait for her signal. If you go down now, aren’t you just going to cause trouble for her?" Qiao Qiao wanted nothing more than to march over and slap every single one of them.
From the moment Chen Xing had returned to the room where they were imprisoned to rescue them, Qiao Qiao had decided to trust her.
These people had also agreed to trust Chen Xing, but at the first sign of trouble, they started to doubt her.
"It’s even more dangerous to run down there now. Those men are ruthless killers. Do you really think they’ll spare us if we go down and surrender?" Sister Feng pleaded, trying to talk some sense into them.
She no longer held out any hope for these people; she just hoped they wouldn’t create more problems for Chen Xing.
"Yeah, that’s right!" Yanyan was young and didn’t fully understand why they shouldn’t run, but she trusted Sister Feng. "I believe Sister Feng!"
Wu Jiran sneered. "She’s probably already escaped by herself. Are we supposed to just wait here like idiots? We’ll be sitting ducks!"
"Exactly! And I heard a wild beast just now. I’m so scared! Getting caught is still better than being attacked by some monster!" Most of them had been terrified by the roar; otherwise, they wouldn’t have considered going down the mountain now.
"Sister Feng, it’s not that we don’t trust you. We just don’t trust that Chen Xing!" Wu Jiran said, shoving Sister Feng aside as she charged down the mountain.
Seeing her go, everyone followed, except for the four who remained: Sister Feng, Qiao Qiao, Yanyan, and Gu Xinyan.
Chen Xing heard the argument from a distance. She saw Wu Jiran leading the group down, running right past her as she continued up the mountain.
’It’s hard for a large group to escape anyway,’ she thought. ’This is better. They’ll create a diversion!’
When Sister Feng saw Chen Xing run up, she rushed forward anxiously. "They wouldn’t listen and ran down the mountain! What do we do?"
Chen Xing glanced at the four remaining women. "They made their own choice."
She didn’t blame them. She just led the four women and started running down the mountain.
As they reached the center of the mountain villa, Ma Zha and a group of men blocked their path. "You’re Chen Xing, that internet celebrity?" His eyes were sharp; even though Chen Xing had smeared her face with grime, he recognized her when they were face-to-face.
Chen Xing didn’t deny it. She swept her gaze over them—more than twenty men.
They had guns, but she was confident she could escape.
But... she glanced at the other four women. They would be in danger.
"So what if I am?" She looked up at Ma Zha, not giving him an ounce of respect.
Ma Zha couldn’t believe this woman was so bold—not only did she dare to break into the villa alone, but she even admitted who she was. "You must have a death wish. Don’t you see? You’re just a few women. What makes you think you can escape from us?"
"Why don’t we find out?" Chen Xing replied, completely unafraid.
Qiao Qiao, though the smallest, had the most courage. She clenched her fists, ready for a life-or-death fight.
’Getting caught again means death anyway, so what’s the point of surrendering? If we fight, maybe we’ll find a way out.’
Sister Feng had the same thought. No matter what, she had to fight her way out!
Seeing Qiao Qiao and Sister Feng prepare to fight, Gu Xinyan, despite not having many skills, felt a surge of defiant spirit.
Only Yanyan was timid, but even she had no intention of surrendering.
Ma Zha saw the women’s defiant stances and burst out laughing. "What, you really think you can take on us men?"
"I bet you don’t have the guts!"
"There’s not a damn thing I don’t dare to do!" Ma Zha snatched a short whip from one of his men and cracked it twice in the air. "Watch me make you beg for a death that won’t come!"
His savage expression made the women shudder.
’One lash from that whip would surely split their skin open.’
But still, not even Yanyan begged for mercy.
"Bring it on!" Chen Xing snorted.
As soon as the words left her mouth, a behemoth suddenly dropped from the dark sky, landing right in front of Ma Zha and taking a bite out of his head.
She had been talking to Ma Zha to stall for time, waiting for Meng Hu to return.
Before Ma Zha could even react, his head was gone.
The remaining men panicked; some fled while others opened fire.
Despite its massive size, Meng Hu was incredibly agile. It dodged the hail of bullets and began to attack the men.
Sister Feng and the others were speechless, their faces ashen with terror. They didn’t dare to move a muscle.
They had never seen anything like it.
"Let’s go!" Chen Xing shouted, starting to run down the mountain.
Just then, her eyes fell upon several unusual-looking rooms next to the main building.
Her intuition told her there had to be something good inside!
"You guys go to the parking lot and wait for me. I’ll be right there!" Her hands always itched at the sight of supplies.
"Be careful, then! We’ll wait for you in the parking lot!" Sister Feng didn’t ask why. After a quick warning, she led the other three girls toward the parking lot.
Chen Xing immediately ran to the rooms. They all had security doors.
The windows were all fitted with iron bars.
’Prying the doors would be a waste of time.’
Chen Xing went over, grabbed the bars, and with a single pull, tore the entire iron frame from the wall.
The items inside were all packed in boxes, making them easy to collect. She quickly swept them into her dimension.
She cleared out several rooms in a row without anyone coming to bother her.
’Meng Hu must be doing a great job keeping guard!’
Satisfied, Chen Xing set the rooms on fire before leaving and running toward the parking lot.
Meanwhile, Sister Feng and the three girls reached the parking lot without any trouble.
There were plenty of cars, but they had no keys.
Qiao Qiao pried open a car door, slid inside, and started trying to hotwire it.
The other three—Sister Feng and the girls—hid to the side, keeping watch on the villa.
They hoped to see Chen Xing soon but were also worried the Migratory Clan would discover them.
A few minutes later, the car’s engine finally roared to life.
But Chen Xing hadn’t arrived yet. Instead, they saw members of the Migratory Clan heading for the parking lot.
"Oh no... About a dozen men are coming this way! What do we do?" Gu Xinyan asked, looking anxiously at Qiao Qiao.
