Chapter 1939: Confronting the Crisis Head-On
……
Shiella continued to glare at Butcher while her brain worked hard to find a way to escape her current predicament.
After a while, she could not help but sigh helplessly before saying. “Let her go first, and I will come with you.”
“Heh! Can I trust those words?” smirked Butcher, continuing to wave Anna in his hands.
Shiella gritted her teeth when she saw this scene before answering. “It is not like you can’t prevent me from escaping if you want.”
Seemingly understanding the plot that Shiella was trying to make, Butcher suddenly grinned even further. He then let go of Anna, letting her fall on the ground, before kicking her with some force that was enough to send her flying and collide with multiple trees nearby.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“You-…!” When Shiella saw that, she could not help but glare at Butcher even fiercely.
Boom!
The aura that was surrounding her also erupted even stronger, seemingly getting herself ready to fight the opposing side to the death.
Butcher ignored this and said nonchalantly. “She is still alive. Saving her is on you now. If we leave a bit earlier, then your guards may be able to save her in time.”
Shiella tightened her fists while trying to suppress the rage that was slowly growing within her.
She was about to risk it all when she suddenly received a voice transmission inside her head. This calmed her down a lot, but still let her raging Natural Forces go even harder.
BOOM!
Both Butcher and Spellbreaker sensed that something was amiss and swiftly made their move.
Bang!
Swoosh!
Butcher kicked the ground and charged straight to Shiella while Spellbreaker targeted the already heavily wounded Anna in the distance.
However, right before those two could even reach their respective targets, an unexpected development occurred.
Swoosh!
A flash of light suddenly flew straight at Shiella, positioning itself between Butcher and her.
Butcher could not help but pause for a moment, especially after seeing a fist suddenly greet him during his charge.
Boom!
That punch did not do much against Butcher, only forcing him to step a couple of steps back. However, he could not help but raise his brows, especially after seeing the person who had blocked him.
“Wanderer,” he said heavily while glaring at the newcomer sharply.
Before him stood David, who was currently covered with an overwhelming amount of Mental Energy that was constantly leaking out from his body and gently flowing upwards. Moreover, this Mental Energy was all in Divinity Grade, which could noticeably affect the surroundings.
There was no hint of his usual laidback attitude on his face. The solemn expression that he was wearing clearly indicated how serious he was now, especially how he glared at Butcher.
Butcher could not help but raise his brows after having a closer look at the latter. He could clearly sense that the current David was completely different from what he could remember, particularly his current strength.
This young mentalist and his power seemed to be infinitely close to reaching the battle powers of a Venerable Realm Mentalist.
He was a bit familiar with the talent and abilities of David, which made him mumble a little. “Just how many meridian locks did he unlock just to reach this level?”
…
At the same time, Spellbreaker, the real Venerable Realm Mentalist, was also met with some obstruction.
Right when he was about to cast a Mentalism Technique to recapture Anna, two figures suddenly appeared like ghosts and flanked him from front to back.
Jeremiah was currently ducking before him while both of his hands were dragging a war axe coated in bloody energy behind him. His eyes were glowing with immense bloodlust, while his body was constantly emitting a dangerous and savage aura.
His current appearance seemed to be a deadly beast attacking its prey.
In the meantime, Vincent was pouncing at Spellbreaker from behind. His arms were crossed while holding a pair of daggers that seemed to be a bone or a tooth of a certain creature, which was constantly emitting a stream of green light.
His eyes were filled with a dangerous glint as he soundlessly appeared behind his target, ready to take their life.
Seeing this, Spellbreaker had no choice but to abandon the idea of capturing Anna. He could not help but admit that these two brats in the early phase of the Void Manifestation Realm pose a great threat to him, especially with their respective weapons.
With a sudden close of his palms, a burst of mental energy suddenly erupted from his body and pushed the two away, interrupting their respective attacks.
Boom!
Swoosh! Swoosh!
It was only at that moment that he got a clearer look at his assailants. He frowned quite deeply while trying to recall the information inside his head.
After a while, he finally found their respective description. “Vincent Valentine and Jeremiah Smithson, the young ghosts of the Valentine Family.”
He then glanced at their respective weapons and frowned a bit deeper. “The Sacred Treasure of the Valentine Family. And a Cursed Artifact of unknown origin?”
Despite having a strength more powerful than these two, he would never underestimate them, especially after seeing those weapons.
Even if these two were only at the Void Manifestation Stage, the threat that they could pose to him was not that low, especially with such powerful objects in them.
Glancing toward Butcher’s side, he saw David, who seemed to be equally troublesome as these two combined due to that overwhelming Divinity Grade Mental Energy that was constantly flowing out from his body.
Even Spellbreaker would not dare to underestimate the current David, especially in that state.
“It looks like we have some problems, huh?” he mumbled.
…
In the meantime, Shiella, who was already in full battle mode, could not help but ask David. “What are you doing here? And how are you able to break through the barrier?”
David, without taking his eyes off Butcher, answered. “It is Junior Brother’s idea. He contacted me earlier today and asked us to be in your vicinity instead of going anywhere.”
“Tsk! It looks like his instincts are still spot on,” he added.
Hearing this, Shiella could not help but ask. “You have never contacted us about your status, making all of us guess your whereabouts, yet you report him instead of me? Is he your superior?”
The corner of David’s mouth could not help but twitch when he heard this and complained inside his head. ’How come this woman focuses on a different point rather than thanking us? She is supposed to be crying or something like that. This makes our dramatic entrance a bit awkward now.
Butcher squinted his eyes as he stared at David before saying. “I see. So, this is your contingency plan, huh? But do you think that you little guys are enough to turn the situation around?”
Right after saying that, he flicked his wrist, which was immediately followed by the appearance of a huge butcher knife filled with an eerie and deadly aura.
The moment this knife appeared, the entire place seemed to become much darker, influencing the entire atmosphere.
’Nice timing!’ commented David inside his head, seemingly thanking Butcher for his earlier ’predicament’.
He then made a grabbing motion in the air before pulling something out of it.
Swoosh!
A silver umbrella then appeared in his hands, where its canopy was filled with mysterious Mentalism Runes that were forming a series of sequences and formations.
His other hand, on the other hand, extended outwards and revealed thin stacks of paper talismans between his fingers.
“You can give it a try,” he said, alongside an inviting gesture to the latter.
Butcher could not help but squint his eyes a bit harder when he saw the umbrella that David had taken out.
It was only after a while that he spoke with a heavy tone. “The Myriad Creation Umbrella of the fallen Solomon Kingdom.”
David did not answer, but the expression on his face could tell what he was currently feeling, especially after the words ’Solomon Kingdom’.
Forcefully calming himself, he whispered to Shiella. “Provide me with some assistance.”
After saying that, he swiftly charged forward, taking the initiative to attack.
Swoosh!
“If you have no intention to attack, then let me do it for you,” he said while throwing the stacks of paper talismans in the air.
Whoosh!
A moment later, David suddenly thrust forward with the umbrella, seemingly using it as a spear, while also releasing his version of Spiritual Force.
Crackle! Crackle!
Lighting suddenly dominated the surroundings, jumping from one talisman to another before converging into the tip of the umbrella.
Seeing this, Butcher swiftly raised his butcher knife and slashed it down, which quickly produced a powerful air current surrounding it.
Boom!
Both sides immediately met, producing a powerful shockwave during the collision.
David was forced to retreat due to the difference in raw strength. But he did not get discouraged and bravely stepped forward once again, launching another attack.
Swoosh!
It was also at this moment that Shiella made her move, circling behind Butcher and planning to launch a flanking attack alongside David.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
While these three engaged in battle, Spellbreaker remained unmoved while staring at his counterparts. He was closely observing Vincent and Jeremiah, who did not immediately resume their offence after their initial ambush.
“Be careful, that’s Spellbreaker,” warned Vincent before jumping back, disappearing into the dark curtains of the night.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah smirked while looking at Spellbreaker. He twisted his neck a little, producing a series of popping sounds, before speaking. “I know you. You are that Venerable Realm Criminal who massacred an entire city in the dark continent.”
“What was your name again?” He paused for a moment, seemingly trying his best to recall the said name, before suddenly snapping his fingers. “That’s right! It is M*th*rf*ck*r!”
The corner of Spellbreaker’s mouth suddenly twitched when he heard that. “You sure have a sharp tongue, huh?”
“Unfortunately, I will not let you experience it since I am into girls,” responded Jeremiah.
Something seemed to have snapped inside Spellbreaker’s head when he heard those words. “Bastard!”
Boom!
A powerful current of mental energy suddenly flooded out of his body, getting ready to teach this brat a lesson.
But before he could even make his move, he suddenly realized that Anna had disappeared at some point without his notice.
Seeing the expression that Spellbreaker was making, Jeremiah suddenly smirked. “Just realized? Too bad, it is already too late.”
Bang!
He then suddenly charged forward with full ferocity while dragging the war axe behind him.
Swoosh!
Vincent had also appeared at some point, seemingly just returning after taking Anna to a safe place.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
The two together, launching a series of coordinated attacks despite being repeatedly repelled by their opponent.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The place immediately became the center of intense battle.
The four geniuses fully understood that they could not afford to turn their backs on these two powerful criminals since it would only spell disaster for them.
They could only do their best to fight while waiting for the right opportunity to run or buy enough time until their reinforcements arrive.
