Volume 10. Chapter 121: While The Battle Waged On, I Struggled To My Goal. (Chapter 1022)

Chapter 121: While The Battle Waged On, I Struggled To My Goal.

Once more, I have to take the spotlight away from my wife, being the main character of my own narration. Though, I don’t really have the luxury to feel bad about this for more than a few seconds…

Crack!

Vulely: “…”

Despite Celia’s best efforts to not cause damage, this Soul Realm was still getting quite battered. All of the cracks to it… were of Guanyu’s doing, though; which is her simply doing a unique method of self-harm. If Celia wouldn’t kill her… then Guanyu would end it herself, I guess.

Two Hours Later.

Even without anyone attacking or stopping me, it took hours to reach my destination. The land constantly shifted, and I had to dodge random, stray attacks, ones that would surely end me pretty quickly if I didn’t move out of the way in a timely fashion. After all, I was still injured; and it would seem that… Guanyu is restricting my ability to heal.

Honestly, I’ll have to thank my wife for that stealth heal from earlier. If she didn’t do that… I’d have died from my wound far before making it barely even halfway to the Golden Core. Damage to one's Soul isn’t to be taken lightly, you see…

Vulely: “This is… quite a big core. Is that due to Guanyu being very powerful?” I mused with a thinking pose, catching my breath.

Leaning on a tree, I came across a large sphere-like object, where Guanyu (her Soul) lay encased, in a fetal position, sleeping within. The warmth radiating off this egg was… ominous, to say the least.

Just like the rest of her Soul Realm, the Golden Core wasn’t golden at all. Rather, it was nearly pitch black, with me barely able to make out Guanyu inside it. Considering the environment, and this darkened core… Guanyu must have far more mental problems than Celia and I realize.

Guanyu: “Vulely.” Her voice rang out, startling me into looking all around, seeing nothing besides dead trees.

Vulely: “…”

Guanyu: “The one in the Golden Core is talking, silly.” She corrected with a forcefully light tone.

That voice… how she spoke… this was the Guanyu that I’m familiar with. But… if she is awake… what am I even doing here in the first place?

Guanyu: “Confused? There is no reason to be. I woke up just now, due to me noticing your familiar presence.” She corrected again, tone truthfully light this time, rather than it being forced.

Vulely: “…”

Guanyu: “Staying silent, I take it? Wise… Now then, I shall ask only one thing of you, Vulely.” She informed with serious tone.

Vulely: “If it is about me killing you… then I’ll adamantly refuse that horrid request.” I replied with a resolute tone and expression, crossing my arms.

Guanyu: “…”

At this, the Cultivator went quiet. Was she contemplating what do next? I didn’t have a clue. However, I soon realized that… Guanyu had tricked me again. Another lulled, false sense of safety and calm… would be my undoing.

Whip!

Thick, darkly colored tentacles appeared beneath my feet, shooting up, entangling and trapping me within seconds. My mouth was blocked, and so was even the slightest movement. All I could do… was look in fear as Guanyu emerged from the Golden Core, an expression on her face that I couldn’t truly place…
