Chapter 286: One lucky omega (sarcasm)

Seoha’s POV

I call Taerin immediately my phone stops buzzing with notifications.

"He’s alive" I whisper.

I’m starting to pant with barely contained excitement.

"Seoha, please, calm down and breathe properly" Minji says and I keep muttering the same words under my breath like a chant.

He’s alive.

The dial tone stops as the call gets accepted.

"Noona" I breathe out, needing to get my answers from her.

"Hello? Seoha?" Yuki’s voice says into the phone, and I go straight to the point with my question.

"He’s alive?" I ask and she sighs.

"Where are you? Taerin unnie is so mad at you" Yuki tells me, but that’s not what I need to hear. I need to hear that my mate is safe and alive.

"He’s alive?" I ask again.

"Is that Seoha?" Taerin noona’s strong voice asks in the background.

"Can you please just tell me if he’s alive?" I ask with a choked-up voice.

My brain and senses are falling apart, I’m receiving too much information at once, but no one is giving me the one I really need.

"You stupid, stupid boy" noona scolds.

"Do you have any idea what you’re doing?" she asks and I wipe my tears with the back of my hand.

"No, shut up and listen to me" she snaps and I sit back down in the chair, holding the phone to my ear.

"Do you know you’re now a mom?" she asks and I sniffle; is Taesan alive or not?

"You ran away and didn’t tell anyone. Sooin is in shock and I had to lie that you’ve been taken to a hospital" noona starts to yell.

The information sinks in slowly while my brain is on overload, and my omega starts to whine for my pup.

I left my baby behind.

"I’m sorry won’t solve anything! Goddess, you and Taesan really fit each other, and I hope you two will live past that age of fifty with how stupid you both are" noona says and I hear how hard she’s breathing to catch her breath.

"We don’t know how much influence Yechan has but you need to stay hidden. I’ll send someone to get you" she says and sighs.

"The last report we got about him is that he’s fighting for his life" Taerin says and fear takes hold of my heart.

"It means they’re trying to keep him alive"

"Please...can I go to him?" I ask.

"You...you’re seriously like a deer! Did you even think before running off?" noona starts to yell again and I whimper.

Minji squats in front of me, frowning as she wonders what is going on with the call.

"You know Taesan is just as thoughtless as you are. If he finds out you’re missing, he’ll also run off to find you! oh, I think I’m having a stroke. Yuki, talk to him" I hear Taerin noona say.

"Are you okay where you are?" Yuki asks as she takes over the call and I nod as if she can see me.

"I’ll send him some money. Aigoo, I feel my hair turning white" I hear noona say in the background.

"Will I see him now?" I ask Yuki.

"Don’t worry, unnie already has someone on the way. Just stay in touch, okay?" Yuki says and I whisper a weak ’yes’.

"Don’t put your phone on Do Not Disturb again, I’ll have someone track you" Yuki says and I nod again.

I’ll get to see Taesan while Sooin is safe with her aunts, then I can say my goodbyes and go far away.

"Seoha" Yuki says softly.

"I understand you" she says with a soft laugh, "the fear of losing a loved one has a way of pushing you up the wall. We’re all mad at you, but we love you. So please don’t beat yourself up" the Japanese woman says and I blink back the tears.

"Thank you" I whisper.

"I’ll hang up, but I’ll call once the person is there. Unnie will wire some money to you, okay?" she says.

"Thank you" I say again and end the call.

’Our mate is alive. Kang Taesan is fighting for his life...we’ll see him soon’ my omega says and I whimper softly.

"What was that? Are you okay, baby?" Minji asks.

With the most important part of my heartbreak addressed, I finally look at Minji with some clarity.

"How did you end up next to me on the plane?" I ask and she straightens her back.

"You know I came to the country to find you. When I was sure you were safe, I was going to leave...but I saw you stumbling down the street, so I followed you" she says and I frown slightly.

"The impromptu flight ticket and begging to sit next to you cost a lot" she adds.

"I don’t trust you" I tell her and she laughs like my mom used to do when I did something silly.

"My baby, you’ve grown, haven’t you?" she says, but I don’t laugh with her.

"Someone is coming for me" I inform her and her happiness dims slightly.

"Are they safe?" she asks.

"Yes"

"Then that’s good, I already knew you might not accept me" she whispers and clears her throat.

What if she’s really my mom? What if I’m losing her again...if I hadn’t moved in with Daeshin back then, I might still be with her...

"Will I see you again?" I dare to ask.

"Maybe? But I’ll find a way to contact you when I have something to share with you, Hanbin taught me a few tricks" she says and I nod, pressing my lips together.

We look at each other for a few seconds.

She’s holding back tears and I’m doing the same.

"It would break me if you’re fake" I confess.

"I know" she smiles sadly.

"I’m sorry for everything, pup. Stay safe, I’ll see how I can help in bringing Yechan down" she whispers.

"Okay...ma’am," my voice breaks.

I want to call her mom...but I can’t, maybe it’s because of my Taesan focused tunnel vision.

My phone rings again and I accept the call.

"Seoha-ya, you’ll see a man who’ll drive you. He’s wearing a dull pink shirt and blue jeans" Yuki says and I look around.

I spot the person at the same time he finds me.

"I can see him" I tell her.

"Good, just follow him. Okay? He’s safe and he’s unnie’s worker" Yuki says and I get up, leaving Minji behind to meet the man.

"Mr. Shin?" he asks.

"Yes, it’s me" I say.

"Okay, please, put on these" he hands over a jacket to me. I wear it and with the hat and glasses he puts on me.

"This way please" he says and I look over my shoulder at Minji...my mom.

She gives me a small wave and I wave back.

I follow the man to a waiting black car. He opens the door for me and I slide in, and the moment I sit on the soft leather seat, I fall into the hands of exhaustion.

I fall asleep with one hand on my stomach, and the other on my collar.

I must have slept for at least five hours because when I wake, I’m in a strange place.

I sit up and look around for something I recognize, but there’s nothing, and my heart rate picks up.

Where am I?

I reach for my phone to call Yuki or Taerin noona, but it’s off again. I squint at the darkness as someone approaches the car.

The door is suddenly yanked open, and I am hugged by someone.

"Seoha!" the female voice says and I relax immediately.

"Oppa, you’re here" Jisu’s voice says, and I see my grandma behind her.
