In the sky, the retreating Reverend Deep Sea glanced back and then muttered, “He didn’t chase us.”

Reverend Minghong also stopped and looked back to confirm that Wang Yao hadn’t followed. Snorting, he said, “I guess the kid managed to keep his cool. It’s just too bad we won’t be able to use the trap.”

Godhead Universal said, “It’s fine. Since we didn’t use it here, we can just use it some other time.”

As he spoke, he threw up crimson blood that was rich with spiritual energy.

He then indignantly said, “But that means I ended up taking that blow for no reason.”

Though it had been for the purpose of baiting the enemy, the blow he had taken had been real.

The three flew back to the court.

Back on the Gigantes battlefield, the demons were still wailing and lamenting.

The Infinite Rain had stopped, leaving behind vast numbers of demon corpses and their demonic energy to pollute the earth.

At the same time, the Celestial Canopy Parasol was put away, the Supreme Unity Verdant Barrier dropped.

That invincible barrier had finally disappeared.

“Retreat!” At this moment, Wang Yao gave a baffling order.

All the demons looked at Wang Yao in surprise.

Though the Infinite Rain had dealt serious losses to the demons, the demon Immortals had basically survived intact. Meanwhile, the court had only the Sage Mother as the sole Gold Immortal, and without the Supreme Unity Verdant Barrier, there was no hope of it defeating the demons. This was the perfect opportunity to attack, so why retreat?

As for the Demon-Slayer Dragon Dance Formation, it was considered one of the seven strongest anti-demon formations. Like the Eight Ocean Mountains, it also used demonic energy, but instead of converting it into spiritual energy, it turned the demonic energy against the demons. The lack of conversion meant that this formation had a much lower cost, but as a result, the Demon-Slayer Dragon Dance Formation could normally only be used once. After it had converted all the demonic energy into a terrifying attack, all of the demonic energy in the region would be gone, rendering the formation worthless.

But where could they go?

The Ancient Stellar Devil’s river of starlight had blocked their path in the skies, while demons surrounded them on the land, with five Gold Immortals among their ranks. Escaping was easier said than done.

A divine general rushed in and kneeled before Yu Cheng. “Your Majesty, the Demon-Slayer Dragon Dance Formation didn’t achieve the expected result. White Tiger Wang Yao seems to have been ready for it, using his Dao of Space the moment the formation activated to shift away most of the demonic energy, greatly weakening the formation.”

This concise report swiftly conveyed the situation.

Yu Cheng was seated on his throne with his eyes closed.

In normal circumstances, there was no need for someone to report this. The Court of Myriad Domains was right over the Gigantes Domain, so Yu Cheng was able to see it. But Yu Cheng’s attention seemed elsewhere, and none of the eyes of the Fourface Crown of Omniscience had their attention on the battlefield.

It took a while for Yu Cheng to react to the general’s report.

He opened his eyes and spoke like an old man. “The Dragon Dance Formation was ineffective… Wang Yao seemed prepared… hehe, it probably wasn’t Wang Yao, but Tang Jie, no?”

“But, Your Majesty, didn’t you already use your arts to obscure the senses of Tang Jie’s will?” the general remarked.

Yu Cheng casually replied, “Indeed, I obscured his will, but just because he can’t see it doesn’t mean he can’t think of it. If Tang Jie had to rely on his avatar’s will for everything, Tang Jie wouldn’t be Tang Jie.”

As he spoke, his eyes glowed.

One of the faces on the Crown of Omniscience turned to the Gigantes battlefield.

The Immortal soldiers were desperately trying to hold off the onslaught, but they were fast reaching their limit.

Yu Cheng’s eyes flashed, and then he sighed, raised the Xuanyuan Sword, and swung.

From his throne, he slashed his sword at the river of starlight.

With one strike, the river of starlight exploded, lighting up the void with its radiance, and the Ancient Stellar Devil tumbled from the sky with a howl.

With the skyward path reopened, the Sage Mother hastily gave the order to retreat.

The situation was extremely disadvantageous such that getting the entire army out in one piece was impossible, so the Sage Mother could only issue a general order to retreat. Only the lucky would survive.

They wanted to run, but the demons were unwilling to let them go.

Wang Yao’s face flashed with savagery as he laughed, “You’re trying to run after killing so many of my men? Pay up with your lives!”
