Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1265: Infinite Rain

On the Gigantes battlefield, the court’s army had been divided into two, and the demons had completely encircled the army on the surface. But the Immortal soldiers of the court weren’t panicked in the slightest. An Immortal general—Scarlet Pine—came forward and took out a giant green parasol.

The parasol spun in the air, unleashing a verdant light that blocked the majority of the demons.

“The Celestial Canopy Parasol and the Supreme Unity Verdant Barrier?” The Nine Disaster Fiend Monk chuckled. “I didn’t think you would bring that out!”

The Celestial Canopy Parasol was one of the great treasures of the Court of Myriad Domains, its Daos being Yin Yang and Five Elements. Worth noting was that it had the traits of two Great Daos, the cycling of Yin Yang and the conversion of Five Elements. The combination birthed an extremely powerful barrier, an essentially invincible defense.

But the Supreme Unity Verdant Barrier was not without flaw. Once enough time passed, the barrier would disappear on its own.

Thus, a Demon Lord said, “Nothing but one last desperate struggle.”

He threw a punch at the barrier, unleashing a burst of light. But this was just to vent his frustration and flex his power, not to actually destroy the barrier. At this moment, the demons were looking at the Immortal army like it was a beast trapped in a cage.

The Sage Mother chuckled, “Rather than one last desperate struggle, I prefer to call it a flower blooming in the center.”

“What?” As the demons wondered what this meant, three Immortals appeared far in the distance, all of them at the Gold Immortal level.

The Nine Disaster Fiend Monk grunted, “Reverend Deep Ocean, Godhead Universal, and Reverend Minghong!”

These three were all Gold Immortals of the Court of Myriad Domains. Together with the Sage Mother, they constituted the new Four Sages of the court.

With the appearance of these three, terrifying pulses of energy rippled through the air, weaving countless gorgeous yet lethal patterns in the air, ultimately coming together into a celestial river of death on the horizon.

The three Gold Immortals completed their casting in unison, upon which that celestial river came pouring down in a furious deluge, every drop of this rain brimming with lethal energy.

“It’s the Infinite Rain of Death, Boundless Ocean of Oblivion!” Queen Sinflower howled, and despite being practically unkillable, she looked afraid.

The Infinite Rain of Death was not a treasure, but a top-class Dao Art. However, like the parasol, it also had two Daos: Slaughter and Destruction. Slaughter allowed it to blast through everything while Destruction let it completely annihilate all that it touched. The only flaw of this rain was that its range was rather limited. While it could cover an area of ten thousand square kilometers, that wasn’t much when one considered the size of the Gigantes Domain.

But the demons had all gathered together in one place so as to encircle the court’s army. An army of millions was quite small compared to a land of a million square kilometers, but it needed such a large area so that it had enough space to move around and maneuver and to draw spiritual energy from. But when the target was surrounded in a single area, spreading out seemed pointless, and many soldiers would naturally congregate around that single point.

At this moment, the Infinite Rain of Death, Boundless Ocean of Oblivion descended, inflicting mass death.

To cast this Dao Art, Yu Cheng had needed to dispatch three Boundless Gold Immortals.

Even Tang Jie would have to flee for his life unless he used his Heavenly Dao Realm.

The rain descended in a mighty waterfall, each drop imbued with an all-destroying power. When it fell on the demons, high-level demons and below simply crumbled into dust without a sound. The stronger devils were able to scream before they collapsed into a pile of flesh, but while they were at least able to leave some sign of their death and existence, they were still on the level of being instantly slain. Only the Violet Palace devils and above could resist for a few more seconds. They dodged, struggled, unleashed all their might, before finally going to their wailing deaths. It was better than dying in a split second, but it was still a swift death.

Only the Immortal-level devil chiefs were truly able to resist this frightening storm.

But resisting was the best they could do, their bodies hissing as the rain drenched them. The Dao of Slaughter made it so that these rain drops could even ignore Immortal-level defenses, while the Dao of Destruction let them eat away at the lifespans of the demons. The reason they weren’t dead wasn’t that they could ignore this damage, but simply that they had enough life to burn.

Even so, they had to retreat!

They had to get out of this rain of death, because if they spent too long here, they would die!

Thus, they began to fall back.

As for the demons that were still converging on the area, they had no time for them.

Those that could take care of their subordinates were the True-Immortal-level Demon Lords. They were strong enough that they could go in and out of the Infinite Rain while still having energy to spare for their own. But even with their strength, they could only look after a limited number of subordinates, and there were far too many demons in this area. More importantly, they were expending a lot of energy to resist this rain.

Fortunately, there were still the Boundless Gold Immortals.

Wang Yao, Nine Disaster, Ancestor Lifeless, the Ancient Stellar Devil, and Nox Alba’s Lord Lion-Camel all moved to protect those they could protect and strike back when they could.

Wang Yao’s methods were the most amazing.

In the face of the rain, he simply gave a shout, upon which the rain froze in the air.

Time had been frozen in that moment.

Wang Yao immediately used his mastery over the Dao of Space to transfer out countless of his subordinates.

Alas, no matter how formidable his Dao Art was, it couldn’t completely stop another Dao Art, only delay it while he sent off his most important subordinates. As for the far more numerous weaker subordinates, he could do nothing.

The same was true for the Nine Disaster Fiend Monk. His Dark Buddha Kingdom had been opened, the countless Buddhas within chanting as golden rings of light rippled out to protect his faithful subordinates. He couldn’t instantly transport them away like Wang Yao, but he could shelter them from the rain and give them a chance to escape, though even if they did escape, it would most likely be with heavy injuries.

But despite their best efforts, under this torrential rain, the vast majority of demons still died on the spot.

The Sage Mother was right. This was a flower blooming in the center.

The Immortal vanguard that had been dispatched against the demons had been bait from the beginning, there to concentrate the demons’ forces so that they could maximize the power of the Infinite Rain. Meanwhile, the court’s army would be completely safe under the Supreme Unity Verdant Barrier.

When it came to tactics, Yu Cheng had left the demons behind by ten city blocks.

“NO!” Wang Yao yelled in anger.

The rain was starting to fade, not even three Gold Immortals able to sustain this top-class Dao Art for too long. More importantly, though they were Gold Immortals, they had only just arrived and still couldn’t use the core energy of the Gigantes Domain, so they couldn’t use the true power of a Gold Immortal.

Thus, once the rain began to die down, the three started to retreat.

“You’re not going anywhere!” Wang Yao bellowed as he threw out a punch. The Dao of Space allowed his punch to ignore distance and instantly appear in front of the three Immortals. This was no spell art or Divine Connection, but the Dao, an instinct for Wang Yao akin to breathing, transcending all limits, the ultimate power.

That Godhead Universal attempted to block, but the immense force instantly sent him flying.

Reverend Deep Sea created a massive wave to hold it off while Reverend Minghong grabbed Godhead Universal and hastily retreated, with no plans of fighting Wang Yao.

Wang Yao roared and made to give chase, but at this point, Tang Jie’s voice rang out: “Bao’er, don’t go after them!”

What?

Wang Yao froze.

Tang Jie said, “They’re baiting you. There’s definitely an ambush waiting for you there. If you think that they’re out of strength and go after them, then you’ll have fallen for their trap.”

Wang Yao replied through thought transmission, “The Four Sages of the court have already appeared. What more strength could they be hiding?”

Despite his words, he had still stopped.

Tang Jie replied, “I don’t know, but I know what kind of person Yu Cheng is. I don’t believe it at all if you said that he had nothing left.”

Wang Yao grunted, “He still has cards to play, but so do we.”

“Are you referring to Immortal Ji Yao and God Phoenix Palace?” Tang Jie asked.

Wang Yao shuddered. “How did you know?”

“How I know doesn’t matter. What really matters here is that you can’t rely solely on Immortal Ji Yao and God Phoenix Palace. Consider all the demons that invaded the Vast Wilderness Continent. Didn’t Yu Cheng destroy them all the same? Yu Cheng is far more powerful than you can imagine!”

Wang Yao had finally calmed down. To have gotten this far, he was naturally no fool. More importantly, he understood Tang Jie and trusted in him. “Father, you’re right, but you can relax. We are relying on more than just Immortal Ji Yao. Yu Cheng won’t win that easily.”

“Oh?” Tang Jie’s interest was piqued. “It seems that another faction will join in… Oh, I see. Is it the Three Sages Ancestor’s group?”

Wang Yao blushed. “As expected, I really can’t hide anything from Father.”

Tang Jie nodded. “Very interesting. The positive and negative planes are joining hands against the Immortal Emperor? I think I get what’s going on. But, Bao’er, trust me when I say that if I could think of it, Yu Cheng can as well. Even if the Three Sages Ancestor, Godhead Guangfa, and the Illusory Demoness all came over, that still doesn’t mean you will win. On the contrary, Yu Cheng must have already taken all these forces into account in his plan and prepared for them.”

“It can’t be?”

“It can!” Tang Jie firmly replied. “He might have even accounted for me joining in. It’s impossible to overestimate an enemy like Yu Cheng.”

“Then what should I do?” Tang Jie’s words had Wang Yao somewhat at a loss for what to do next.

Tang Jie smiled. “No need for panic. You are my son, so I would never let you take a loss. If you listen to me, I can guarantee that Yu Cheng will be getting a big serving of humble pie.”
