Aspiring to the Immortal Path

Chapter 1242: Military Prowess

The Gigantes Domain.

This place had already become a world of demons.

Darkness covered the sky, and demonic energy contaminated the earth.

Demons rampaged across the land, seeking any food to put in their mouths. The lives they had spent in the darkness made them greedy for all usable resources and made them constantly seek them out.

The vast majority of demons could swiftly digest resources so that they could grow stronger—a basic survival skill in the barrens of the Primordial Fog Domain. The prosperity of the positive plane allowed them to maximize this talent. There was rarely a moment where they weren’t eating and growing stronger. Once they grew strong enough, they produced new demons via reproduction, division, or some other method, allowing the demons as a faction to rapidly grow stronger.

But today, harvest season had finally come.

A thunderclap from the heavens drew the attention of countless demons.

They looked up and saw a flash of light.

It radiated light and heat like a sun, and the sky was soon set ablaze. And then the rain of fire descended, bringing with it death and destruction.

More and more blazing meteors rained down, painting the sky in brilliant colors.

The banquet of death had officially begun.

“AAAAAH!!!”

Large numbers of demons began to screech. Having survived in the most challenging of environments, they had such fierce natures that even when they faced doomsday, they refused to back down.

With a howl, the demons ascended to the storm of flames, unleashing their power at the heavens.

Demonic energy swept forth.

A torrent of demonic spells and Divine Connections surged upward, colliding with the rain of fire in a breathtaking explosion.

But that which rose upward was bound to fall.

The remnants of the flames crashed down, killing many of the demons on the spot.

And this wasn’t even the end of it, for behind that deluge of spell arts were countless Void Shuttles flying out of the gray Astral Winds.

These were personally designed by Tang Jie and made from valuable materials gathered from the void. Able to resist even Astral Winds, they had defensive power beyond compare.

Enduring the blasts from the demons, the Void Shuttles unleashed salvo after salvo, callously blasting the demons below to bits with beams of light.

The demons had never encountered such treasures before, possessing speed, firepower, and durability all in a single package, and they scattered like rats.

Of course, there were those fierce demons who organized into ranks to face this new foe, but those strange ships with their abnormal firepower and even more abnormal tactics were able to use their speed to penetrate through the demons, slicing up their formations and preventing them from joining together. This tactic of charging into enemy ranks and dividing them was only seen among mortals and was rarely seen in cultivator wars, as cultivators found it very hard to maintain cohesion while moving at such a high speed. But thanks to the Void Shuttles, this tactic could be deployed.

The Void Shuttles were their warhorses, letting them interfere with the demons’ attempts to work together while suppressing them with immense firepower. This created an opening for the cultivators to cut them down.

The demons had never encountered a human force like this before.

Not only did they not fear demons, they were completely unrestrained, running around and killing demons as they pleased, as if the demons were simply sheep raised to be slaughtered rather than fierce and savage foes.

The demons were dumbfounded by this clash!

What kind of humans were these? Where had they come from?

These were the questions on every demon’s mind.

Wherever they went in the chiliocosm, humans became like rats that had seen cats, but today, the humans were slaughtering them like pigs.

Of course, they didn’t know that the cultivators of the Rosecloud Domain had already fought far too many battles against the demons.

And unlike other humans, they had always been victorious.

This had made the humans forget the power of the demons, forget the mental trauma the Primordial Fog Domain had left on humanity as a whole.

They knew that demons were also living beings that could die, that could cower and run!

They knew the traits of demons, as well as their habits.

They knew that while demons were powerful, they were innately unruly and not suited to working together. If they charged in and cut up their formations, they easily fell into chaos and even started fighting among themselves. They also knew that while demons were fierce, they also had fears, and if one could find that which they naturally feared, they could actually become so afraid that they lost any will to fight. They also knew that while the demons were numerous, different kinds of demons often held grudges against other kinds of demons. If this was used properly, it could save them some work. They even knew which demons were the scariest when they worked together and which demons would be complete disasters to each other if they were put in one team…

They understood the demons more than the demons understood themselves!

This was a cultivator force that had fought countless battles against demons and won, so they were raring for a fight and brimming with confidence, seeking to kill demons.

…Not merely out of hatred, but also because of the achievements and merit that they stood to gain, further stimulating their fervor.

A general’s achievements were built on the bones of countless demons!

Countless cultivators saw a glorious future founded on these demons, so how could they not be proactive and invigorated?

The cultivators of Rosecloud and the Void Shuttles buzzed through the air, laying down wave after wave of lethal firepower.

It fell on the mountains, oceans, forests, plains, and all the countless demons upon them.

The end of days had come!

In this world-destroying war, the strength of an individual was no longer important. Whether one was at Celestial Heart or Violet Palace, in that torrent of spell arts and Divine Connections, one would be just another fish in the ocean, carried along by the waves.

Perhaps only those at the Immortal Platform level had the strength to turn the tables, at least locally.

An Earth-Immortal-level Devil Chief let out a frenzied howl.

The devil had a human body, a scorpion tail, and a long horn sprouting from his head. As he took to the skies, his tail flew through the air like a whip.

With one lash, a fissure was torn in the sky, flames erupting from it.

The Devil Chief snarled, “All of you humans, hurry up and die!”

With a laugh, he suddenly reached out with his arms.

It just so happened that a Void Shuttle emerged from the Astral Winds at this moment.

The Devil Chief seized the shuttle, rendering it immobile. The shuttle’s cannon blasted him, engulfing him in flames, but the Devil Chief simply swayed before shaking it off. As he squeezed, the shuttle began to crack and groan.

This Void Shuttle could even withstand the Astral Winds, but the prodigious power of this Devil Chief was slowly breaking it down.

Finally, the shuttle was scrunched into a ball.

As the shuttle shattered, several cultivators flew out. These cultivators were extremely experienced, escaping the shuttle right before it was destroyed and fleeing in several directions.

“You’re not getting away!” The Devil Chief threw aside the shuttle and immediately snatched a cultivator, destroying the fabric of space around him. That unfortunate cultivator tried everything he could but failed to escape, and with a scream, he was crushed to death.

But once the Devil Chief was done, he found that all the other cultivators had already used that opportunity to escape.

Despite being an Immortal-level Devil Chief, his personal intervention had resulted in only a single destroyed shuttle and a single dead cultivator. The average demon might have been impressed by his display of power, but he took his performance as a humiliation.

But there was no time to wash away this shame, for a moment later, a hand reached out of the clouds toward him.

He sensed from its power that an Earth Immortal was attacking.

“Impudent!” the Devil Chief snarled, striking back with a palm of his own.

Such clashes took place all across the Gigantes Domain.

Amid the fighting, the Immortal-level combatants had begun their own battle.

Countless Immortals and Devil Chiefs, even True-Immortal-level existences, started to struggle against each other, turning the skies of the Gigantes Domain red.

All of these sights left the Gigantes King stunned.

He simply had no idea how strong Tang Jie’s Rosecloud Domain really was.

It had to be understood that this was not the result of some trap. It was a direct clash of forces, one which had the demons fighting for survival. While it was a surprise attack that had come suddenly, its success was ultimately rooted in the strength of the Rosecloud humans.

This was a veteran cultivator army!

The Gigantes King sighed, “Tang Jie, to have achieved this much in only fourteen hundred years is truly an incredible feat.”

Tang Jie coolly said, “So long as Your Majesty is happy. That said, we should go now.”

“‘Go’? Go where?” the Gigantes King said in surprise.

“To look at books,” Tang Jie answered. “You agreed to this.”

“…” The Gigantes King was speechless. Of course, he had no intention of going back on his promise, but wasn’t there a war going on?

I admit that your cultivator army is impressive, but do you really think that’s enough to defeat the demons? This is a world of Titans, and the final victory will ultimately depend on them.

Tang Jie said, “Come on. Until we reach the final battle of this war, there’s no need for us to intervene.”

“What?” The Gigantes King was taken aback. “You mean…”

“This was simply a surprise attack to announce our arrival. Once we’ve had our fill, we’ll retreat,” Tang Jie calmly replied.

“But you have the upper hand right now. How can you just retreat? So long as you give the word, my Gigantes will charge into the fray to join you!” The Gigantes King was frantic. After being suppressed by the demons for so long, he finally saw some hope, but now he was being told that it was just an illusion.

“Do you really think it’s that easy to win?” Tang Jie gave the Gigantes King a sympathetic look. He could understand what he was feeling, but he still had to pour cold water on his idea. “There are simply too many demons. Even if the Gigantes joined, it’s impossible to eat up such a huge piece of meat all at once. But if we take our time and slowly nibble away, we’ll eventually get it down.”

Tang Jie began to walk out. As for the battlefield, he wasn’t concerned.

This was just a raid. There was no need for him to take personal command.

Through all these years of battle, the Rosecloud Domain hadn’t just raised a veteran army, but also a set of outstanding officers to lead it.

He was confident that they would be up to the task.
