Apocalypse Supermarket: My Four Overpowered Husbands Wontstop Hoarding

Chapter 97 A Crushed plan.

Chapter 97: Chapter 97 A Crushed plan.

Through her room door, Luna hurriedly stepped into her enormous personal quarters and immediately collapsed onto her bed, burying her face into the pillows.

What the hell was wrong with her?

Why was she suddenly so curious about them?

And why, out of everyone, was she especially worried about Rowan?

It wasn’t supposed to be this deep.

It wasn’t supposed to mean anything.

She had a reputation to maintain, even if only inside her own head. Luna was supposed to be cold, detached, and completely unbothered by everyone around her. That was the person she had decided she would become after getting another chance at life.

A badass queen who didn’t allow emotions to interfere with survival.

Not this.

Whatever was changing inside her right now, she didn’t like it.

"Maybe I’m just tired."

That had to be it.

She hadn’t gotten enough sleep in days. Between hoarding supplies, dealing with the government, strengthening the island, managing her companions, watching the apocalypse unfold, and now dealing with monsters that were stronger than anything she had encountered in her previous life, exhaustion was bound to affect her mind.

Yes.

Sleep was the cure.

A proper night’s rest, and she would wake up tomorrow completely normal.

Cold, Calm and Unbothered.

Luna turned her face further into the pillow, trying to force herself to relax.

But the moment her eyes closed, another thought invaded her mind.

The government.

Her eyes snapped open.

A horrifying image suddenly flashed through her mind.

Her men.

Taken away.

Experimented on.

Their bodies restrained while strange machines surrounded them. Their screams echoed through sterile corridors, their voices becoming louder and louder until they seemed to fill her entire head.

"Luna!"

"Help us!"

"Luna!"

Their voices were desperate.

Broken.

She saw Ethan struggling against restraints while golden radiance flickered weakly around his hands.

Kai was screaming her name.

Adrian was desperately trying to open a portal, only for the ability to fail repeatedly.

And Rowan...

Luna’s breath caught.

Rowan was staring directly at her.

His normally cold expression was filled with pain and disappointment.

He looked at her for several seconds before slowly turning his face away.

"You could have stopped this."

Luna froze.

"You could have saved us, Luna."

Her chest tightened.

"Why didn’t you stop them?"

"No..."

"You knew this could happen."

"Stop..."

"You could have done something."

"Luna Hale!"

She stumbled backward.

The voices became louder.

"You could have stopped this!"

"You fucking could have!"

"Why didn’t you?"

"Why didn’t you save us?"

Luna turned and ran.

She didn’t know where she was going.

She only knew she had to get away from those voices.

Her feet suddenly slipped.

The ground vanished beneath her.

She fell.

There was nothing beneath her except a bottomless darkness that swallowed everything.

"Luna!"

She screamed as she dropped deeper and deeper into the abyss.

"NO!"

Luna’s eyes flew open.

She shot upright on the bed, gasping violently.

Her hands immediately clutched her chest as she struggled to catch her breath.

Her room was silent.

The bright lamp beside her bed was still on, illuminating the pristine walls and furniture.

There was no laboratory.

No restraints.

No screams.

No blood.

Nothing.

Just her room.

Luna slowly looked around before releasing a shaky breath.

"A dream..."

She had fallen asleep without even realizing it.

She leaned back against the headboard and rubbed her face.

"What the hell was that?"

Her heart was still pounding.

The dream had felt too real.

Especially Rowan’s face.

That look in his eyes.

That disappointment.

Luna hated it.

She looked at the watch around her wrist.

Three in the morning.

"Already?"

It was supposed to be completely dark outside at this hour.

But when she turned toward the small window, the same enormous red sun was still hanging in the sky.

Luna stared at it.

The sight continued to give her chills.

It was unnatural.

The sun hadn’t moved since they had left the government safe zone. It simply remained there, bathing everything in an eerie reddish glow that made the entire world look like it had been drenched in blood.

She had no idea what kind of phenomenon it was.

And honestly, she wasn’t sure she wanted to know.

Luna eventually climbed out of bed and walked toward the small table beside it.

She picked up a bottle of sparkling water and poured herself a glass.

As she took a sip, something suddenly clicked inside her mind.

She froze.

The government was creating awakened.

They were experimenting with abilities.

They were apparently even working on the possibility of creating another habitable environment because Earth was becoming increasingly dangerous.

If they could think that far ahead...

Why couldn’t she?

Luna’s eyes slowly narrowed.

"What if I created my own environment?"

The thought immediately became more interesting.

She had land.

She had resources.

She had the supermarket space.

She had farming equipment stored inside.

She had seeds, tools, machinery, food-processing equipment, water, and countless other supplies.

What if she created a forest?

Not just a few plants around the house.

An actual ecosystem.

A protected zone where crops could grow and animals could live.

A place where extinct plants could potentially be restored.

A place where livestock could be raised.

A place where they could eventually produce their own food instead of constantly depending on whatever resources she could hoard from the supermarket.

And if they produced enough?

They could even trade.

There were going to be countless survivors outside with nothing.

People would eventually be desperate for food.

Luna could provide it.

For a price, obviously.

She wasn’t running a charity.

Her eyes brightened slightly.

"That could actually work."

She walked toward the center of the room, her mind becoming more active.

The supermarket contained far more than food.

There were farming tools, irrigation equipment, hydraulic machinery, generators, construction materials, seeds, fertilizers, water systems, and different kinds of engines.

If she could establish a controlled environment, she could make use of all of it.

The only major problem was scientific knowledge.

They needed someone who understood agriculture, soil rehabilitation, environmental systems, and possibly atmospheric purification.

Someone who could look at the damaged land and figure out exactly what could be done.

And perhaps the system could help with the rest.

Luna’s excitement grew.

"What if the world becomes severely polluted?"

She stopped.

That was another possibility she hadn’t properly considered.

The government was releasing toxins.

The atmosphere could become contaminated.

Water sources could become unusable.

The soil could become poisoned.

If that happened, simply having food stored in the supermarket wouldn’t be enough forever.

They needed a sustainable source.

Trees.

Plants.

Clean water.

Animals.

A controlled ecosystem.

Something that could help them survive even if the outside world became completely uninhabitable.

Luna’s eyes gleamed.

"That would be perfect."

She immediately turned toward the system panel.

"Do you think what I’m planning can work?"

The panel appeared before her.

"I know outside my island probably won’t be possible, but within this area... can we secure a zone for this project?"

The system remained silent for several seconds.

Calculations began.

Numbers and information flashed across the transparent panel as it analyzed the land surrounding the house, the condition of the soil, atmospheric contamination, future environmental changes, and the potential success rate of creating a sustainable ecosystem.

Luna waited.

Finally—

[Ding!]

[Analysis complete.]

Luna leaned closer.

[Severe land malnourishment has been detected around the house base.]

Her expression fell slightly.

[Environmental toxins released by the government are expected to spread across surrounding regions in the coming days.]

[The contamination is projected to severely affect plant life and livestock.]

[Human populations within heavily contaminated zones will also be at risk.]

Luna’s brows knitted together.

The system continued.

[Atmospheric instability is highly probable if the released gases and toxins infiltrate the global environment.]

[Projected result: Natural ecosystems will suffer catastrophic damage.]

[Conclusion: The proposed environmental restoration project is currently unlikely to succeed.]

Luna stared at the panel.

There was her brilliant idea.

The system had crushed it in less than a minute.

She lowered her head and sighed.

"Of course."

She should have expected that.

The apocalypse wasn’t going to make anything easy for her.

Still...

Luna wasn’t giving up.

Not now.

Maybe she couldn’t do it today.

Maybe she couldn’t do it tomorrow.

But eventually, she would find a way.

If the world refused to recover naturally, then she would force it to recover.

She had already changed her own fate.

There was no reason she couldn’t change the fate of the environment too.

Luna took another drink of her sparkling water before opening another section of the system.

If she couldn’t solve the world’s environmental problems tonight, she could at least prepare for the next hoarding trip.

"Food first."

Her apocalypse coins needed replenishing, and the best way to do that was through stockpiling and using the supermarket’s special mechanics.

She needed to make another list.

Bread.

Definitely bread.

They needed it for breakfast because it was easy to eat and didn’t feel too heavy in the morning.

Luna began mentally going through the varieties.

White bread.

As much as she could carry.

Bagels.

Hamburger buns.

English muffins.

Dinner rolls.

Sandwich bread.

There were countless options, and Luna had no intention of limiting herself.

Then came the drinks.

Her men were perfectly happy with bottled water, but Luna preferred sparkling water.

That was non-negotiable.

She also needed coffee.

Energy drinks.

Juices.

Orange juice.

Apple juice.

Tea.

Chocolate drinks.

Anything that could keep them comfortable and energized.

"Food isn’t everything."

She started adding other necessities to the list.

Machines.

Engines.

Agricultural equipment.

Construction tools.

Anything useful.

The supermarket was enormous, and she had already filled a frightening amount of space with supplies. Still, there was no such thing as having too many resources in an apocalypse.

Especially not when the world was becoming more dangerous by the hour.

Once she finished making the list, Luna leaned back.

She suddenly remembered the others.

Her fingers moved across the system panel and brought up the CCTV feeds.

One by one, the cameras displayed the mansion main room.

Everyone was asleep.

Kai was sprawled across his bed in a ridiculous position with Astrid hugging him tightly like he was scared shit for his life.

Adrian had somehow managed to sleep with half of his blanket on the floor.

Ethan was resting quietly.

Rowan looked peaceful for once.

Luna stared at them.

A small smile slowly appeared on her lips.

She didn’t even realize she was smiling.

"Idiots."

She lowered the panel.

Her earlier nightmare returned briefly to her mind.

She remembered Rowan looking at her and his hurtful words.

Luna’s expression became serious.

"No."

She shook her head.

"I won’t let that happen."

Maybe she was becoming attached.

Maybe she was changing.

Maybe the cold and detached person she had planned to become wasn’t as permanent as she thought.

But she didn’t care.

If the government ever came for her men, they would have to go through her first.

And Luna had no intention of losing.

She pulled the blanket over herself and settled back onto the mattress.
