Chapter 1984: Reappearance Of The Wood Fanatic

Chapter 1984: Reappearance Of The Wood Fanatic

Reynolds studied the Young Man who was around their age and nodded, “Yes, why?”

He looked at Klaus oddly. They were also Sovereigns, and since this Young Man looked around their age, there should be nothing shocking about him being a Sovereign. He was even a Fourth stage Sovereign, a few stages below them. All three of them were Seventh stage Sovereigns, Grey who was absent was even in the Eighth stage already. Knowing him, they felt he might even return a Ninth stage Sovereign. Although they were worried he would be in danger, they believed he would return without any mishaps.

“Did you leave this Continent?” Klaus asked. This was the only thing he felt could improve the Young Man’s cultivation rapidly.

The Young Man shook his head.

Alice walked over, seeing Klaus was focused on only the Young Man’s cultivation, she asked, “Klaus, who is your friend?”

Alice’s reminder made Klaus recall Alice and Reynolds did not know this Man, other than Grey who he had taken to see him a long time ago, the others had never seen him.

“This is Hugh, an old friend from Lunar City.” Klaus introduced the Young Man. He was none other than the wood fanatic he took Grey to meet those years ago when Grey was in search of a particular wood. The reason Klaus was this dumbfounded by the Young Man’s cultivation is purely the fact that the Young Man had never really had any interest in cultivating. He spent all his time studying different types of woods, which was quite strange. Luckily, other than his obsession over wood, he was a very decent person overall, hence the reason they had such an amiable relationship.

“It’s nice meeting you Hugh, I’m Alice.” Alice smiled at Hugh.

Reynolds raised his hand, “Reynolds.”

Since Klaus did not mention Hugh’s last name, the others did not ask, neither did they drop their as well.

“It’s nice meeting you all. Anyone who is a friend of the Young Lord is a friend of mine as well.” Hugh said humbly.

Klaus waved his hands and said, “I’m no longer the Young Lord of anywhere, I’m just Klaus now.”

“For me, you will forever remain my Young Lord.” Hugh said, still wearing the same humble expression.

Klaus knew there was no way to get Hugh to change the way he addressed him. Giving up, he wanted to continue inquiring how Hugh was able to grow this much. In the end, he refrained from asking, turning to the group of people behind him, he signalled for them to start heading to the battlefield.

He was stationed in the southern entrance of the Magical Beast’s Forest, while the main battlefield was around the northern entrance of the Magical Beast’s Forest. The previous group assigned to that place were unable to stop the Gnomes.

Lucas knew the strength of Grey’s friends, for that reason, he was not worried they could not hold that region. A Peak Sovereign was holding the forte down there, this group was reinforcement.

The trip to the southern entrance of the Magical Beast’s Forest was quite long from Red City. Without Grey to activate his teleportation arrays, they were basically useless. The other Space Elementalist who was a Half God Plane expert was not proficient in array formations, so there was no way she could make use of Grey’s teleportation arrays nor could she make her own.

The Azure Continent was not as large as the Aurora Continent, given the current cultivation of the army, it took them only a few days to go from Red City to the southern entrance of the Magical Beast’s Forest.

The army stopped at the closest City to the southern entrance of the Magical Beast’s Forest. This was the place where the past army were also stationed and where the Peak Sovereign was holding down the fort.

The Peak Sovereign personally came out to receive the army, shocked that Lucas sent out three people in the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane. In most squads, there are only about three Sovereigns, one Peak Sovereign, and maybe two in the Mid stages. This army had three Seventh stage Sovereigns and even a Fourth stage Sovereign as well, which was more than he expected. The Commander was all smiling in relief with the additions to his squad. With these four, he was confident they had nothing to fear again.

Only an hour after the group arrived, the Commander summoned the four in the Sovereign Plane.

Other than the Commander, there were no other Sovereigns. His job had been difficult over the past few days. The losses they have suffered was unimaginable.

“I believe Lord Lucas informed you all the reason you were sent here?” He asked, gazing at the four youths.

“Yes, other than escorting the army here, we are to support you for a short time.” Klaus responded. Their main task was getting the army here, now that they have done that, they were ordered to stay here for a short while and assist him with integrating this army into his squad. They are also to help in the events of any attacks.

The Commander, a Middle-aged man nodded, he was also informed of this. Although he wanted them to stay for a longer time, having them for a short time should be enough to help eliminate some of his worries.

“Since you know this, there is no point beating around the bush. The Gnomes stationed in this area have five Sovereigns, two in the Ninth stage, while the other three are in the Seventh, Sixth, and Fifth stages respectively.” The Commander went on to tell them the overall strength of the Gnomes’ army.

Presently, with the addition of the two hundred men Klaus’s group brought over, there were only a total of five hundred men present to battle the Gnomes. While on the Gnomes’ side, they had over a thousand Gnomes in their ranks. Not just that, but they also had more Venerables. Adding their Puppets to the fray, they vastly outnumbered the Humans.

“Things are not looking good.” Klaus clicked his tongue as he remarked.

Reynolds and Alice wore a solemn expression, they have had multiple encounters with Gnomes over the years and knew how terrifying they were. With Grey around, the Puppets of the Gnomes were more of a curse than a blessing. Unfortunately, Grey was nowhere to be seen; meaning the Gnomes had free reign to make use of their Puppets.

“Are the Gnomes aware of our arrival?” Alice asked.

“They don’t dare to come within fifty kilometers of this City. But there is a chance they might be aware of it.” The Commander responded, before taking a curious look at Alice, inquiring, “Why did you ask?”

“I wanted to suggest we ambush them. They should think you still have the same small numbers. If we use the element of surprise to attack them now, their losses will definitely be astronomical.” Alice replied.

Her plan was nothing serious, only hoping to capitalize on their element of surprise.

The Commander thought about it and replied, “My information is also a little old. What if they have support?”

“It’s unlikely.” Klaus shook his head, before continuing while rapping his finger on the armrest, “From what I know, they are all focused on the northern entrance. Since you started engaging them, they have always had the advantage. So to say, they would not want to expend too much effort here.”

The Commander nodded, this was true. The main forces of the Gnome Race are stationed around the battlefield of the northern entrance since that was the region closer to the entrance of the portal.

“Hmm, if that’s the case, then we should strike now before it’s too late. It has been more than one hour since you arrived, that is enough time for their scouts to have figured out something.” The Commander suggested.

“Just what I had in mind.”

This was not a major battlefield, so both parties usually did not spend too much resources on this side. Even if the Gnomes have been victorious during the previous battles, they still did not try to push too much forward. All they have been doing was ensuring the Humans could not pass through this region and launch a pincer attack on the northern entrance.

The Commander stepped out to rally the troops. He was the strongest and also the one in charge. Klaus and the others were under him, and all they needed to do was help with attacking the Sovereigns. The battlefield of the Venerable and Sage Plane Elementalists had nothing to do with them, at least until they dealt with their opponents.

The Gnomes had five Sovereigns, and now, this Unit also had five Sovereigns. Taking into account that they even had a Peak Sovereign, their overall strength is better than the Gnome’s. This was the reason they wanted to take advantage of this advantage. It took only a short ten minutes for the whole troop to be ready, prepared to march to war once again.
