Chapter 1124: Curtain Falls.
Chapter 1124: Curtain Falls.
The Realm Lord had asked for a reason, he wanted to know why this race that has risen from the ashes like a phoenix wanted to forfeit the chance to climb higher in the ranking list. The way Shi Lang had fought, even a child could tell that he has yet to show his all. Yet, here he was not willing to participate in the final level, even though there wasn’t any death game. They were all curious.
Shi Lang smiled faintly as he raised his head to look at the Realm Lord and said, “Your Excellency, as I stand here, I cannot help but remember that all the people who were the part of this contest, they all fought for one motive, the survival and prosperity of their races.
I don’t feel ashamed in accepting that the human race was nowhere near capable to stand amongst the survivors had we all not pooled in our minds and strength to ensure doing our best. However, now the ranking list is not about survival, but glory. What can we do with the glory if we are only destined to wash it off our hands in a small time? This is why, I would seek your magnanimity to allow the human race to settle for the last position so that we can at least protect our legacy.”
His words were so diplomatic that even the top races couldn’t help but think about it, none of them had expected anything from the Humans, yet now, not only had they displayed a serious martial and spiritual prowess, but even diplomacy. Many of them cast a gaze to look at the Realm Lord, who was also taken aback.
The logic was sound and reasonable, after all, the intent behind this contest was to see if the races were worth to be allowed to survive. So, now what was the point in fighting for ranks. Humans couldn’t possibly go on to fight with the rest of the races who had expert far stronger than them, it was only logical since they were destined to be the last in the end.
The Realm Lord thought for a bit and said, “The rest of the races shall decide this matter, since it is about your ranking, I will not make this decision.”
The people were shocked, however, they all knew that the Realm Lord wanted them to decide if they wanted to see what cards did the human race held. Thinking about it many of the leading representatives looked at each other, while some had an interest in finding out what cards the humans held, there were also people who couldn’t careless about this. Twenty four people had to vote, and two of them were the Sun Archers and the Jewel Eye race.
These two had a significant pull in the twenty four people but they could not influence anyone, so they were the first to disrupt the wave of thoughts and said, “Realm Lord, we agree that the human race doesn’t need to compete.”
The realm lord knew about their alliance and so he didn’t mind what these people discussed about. He nodded and then he asked, “Reason?”
The jewel eye race replied, “Since it is only the last position, we don’t see a reason to make a mess, at least they know their place.”
Shi Lang or the other people didn’t mind this wording, after all, it was only fair for them to say such a thing. Just because they were allies in some aspects, that didn’t mean they were friends and the strongest representative didn’t have much impression of the Human race anyhow.
The sun archers stepped up with a similar reason and with this many leaders stepped up to vote that they are willing to let the human race stay out of this whole thing. However, just when everyone thought that this matter was settled, they found that five races of medium potential had voted to have the human race to participate in the name of gaining experience.
Shi Lang took not of these races, but since the voting had already decided the issue, he waited for the Realm Lord, who lazily waved his hand and said, “Fine, you are exempted from the final round, you can witness the last round from the fence.”
His words had a veil of agreement but the undertone of sarcasm. However, Shi Lang didn’t say anything, but simply bowed and went to sit down in his position. Then followed by the voting was a chaotic battle royale. It was simple, but he could tell that the people were only putting on a show to please the Realm Lord, after all, they were all the top twenty five of the world, what did it matter to them if they managed to reach a higher rank or not.
They were more or less the same in terms of skills and power among the Myriad races. The battle royale lasted for several hours before the ranks were decided and the people cheered before they returned to their own plains.
The envoy who led Shi Lang and the rest back said, “Shi Lang, may I have a word with you?”
The Terran was confused but he nodded nonetheless, if he didn’t even talk, how would he know what the matter was? He led the envoy to the side, and asked, “Please tell me, Lady Envoy.”
The envoy said, “In a coming few centuries, you should try to excel but lay low. Don’t get into conflict with other races and keep standing ahead of everyone. As for the significance of this advice, you will see in a few minutes.”
Initially Shi Lang was stunned, but then he nodded and thanked her for the advice. The envoy walked back into the portal and the rest of the people watched it close. Shi Lang raised his brow and fell into contemplation of what the future held for them.
He could sense that the rest of the people were gazing at him with curiosity. He took a deep breath and said, “What the fuck are you looking at? She advised me to make sure that none of us hold back and keep pushing forward. There is something big coming in a few centuries, you losers better work double time to make up for the ground you have lost.”
The young man berated everyone and then he turned to look at Tian Long and said, “Punk, you strong armed my daughter right, come I will show you what force is.”
As he said this his hair turned crimson and Tian Long yelled, “Fuck you, who is afraid of whom? Come, I will show you.”
That said, he vanished from the sight and Shi Lang was shocked as he shouted, “Fucking clown, how dare you trick me.”
He also vanished from the spot. The people were all confused, they wanted to know more but not only were they scolded, Tian Long was also targeted. They all gulped, and knew that Shi Lang just managed to fight with the Martial Titan race without drawing his sword. They all decided to leave in an instant so that they could handle everything with ease.
…
Shi Lang and Tian Long appeared inside the Elder Hall of the Asura Hall, and the latter asked, “Why the facade?”
The Terran shook his head and replied, “That woman, she said that something big would be coming up in the future and that we should be mindful about that. Now, what do I tell those fuckers outside, they would all think that I am holding back.”
Tian Long nodded and said, “Yes, you have thought correctly. So, this means I would have to hold back on the plan of becoming a father.”
Shi Lang sighed and said, “Don’t I know that too? This whole facade is causing me trouble too. I wanted to have a child as well, but this fucking thing is going to cause me to delay even more. How can I have a child? How strong he or she would be in the coming years? How would we protect them if something bad happened? Bullshit.”
Tian Long sighed and said, “Well, don’t worry so much, it would be fine. We waited for a long time already, why not wait for some time more?”
Shi Lang sighed and laid his head down on the table. A few moments later, many people came inside the elder hall, Shi Lang conveyed what the envoy said to him, and the people all sighed. It may seem as if the time was short, but that was not true. Two hundred years in the vision of a cultivator was nothing but a blink of an eye.
Amelia smiled faintly at him and said, “Well, I need to get stronger, because the Realm Lord did try to probe me. Thankfully, even though I am a saint, all the fluctuations from me were sealed.”
Shi Lang turned to look at her and then clenched his fist before he said, “I will fucking kill that swine.”
Amelia patter his shoulder and replied, “Yes, but all in good time.”
