Shi Lang and the war council began to discuss a lot of things. The people who came over were doubtful of him, because they heard that Shi Lang was very unforgiving. However, as they discussed the issues, they understood that the Terran was not cruel if the people didn’t mess with him.
However, many times during the meeting these elders have tried to take advantage of his actions and thus, Shi Lang had to give them a little dress down. The people didn’t step in to say otherwise because Shi Lang was not wrong. After two days the meeting concluded and the Terran said, “Since it has been decided, I hope that the people can stick to these agreements. The time we have will be fleet away and then we would have to fight against the myriad races, so stay prepared.”
The people nodded and then they all decided to leave Asura Hall because they had to arrange things back at home accordingly. Shi Lang waited for them to leave before he said, “So, apart from Tao and Mei the rest of the people are in seclusion?”
Prince Beiming nodded and said, “Tao only came out after the meeting had begun and so I didn’t think it was a good idea to tell them to gather outside.”
Shi Lang nodded and said, “Well, we can help them set up teleportation formations all across the planes. Umm, even the southern continent as well. The spirit beast races there would not mind it from what the representative said, as long as humans don’t act too wise for their good. I will ask Tao to start reclaiming the land around hall, and construct a gathering hall there.”
Prince Beiming said, “II liked the military act that you have come up with. However, do you really think this mandatory service rule would be well received?”
Shi Lang shook his head and replied, “When have people in the cultivation world received mandates with a smile? They will object and I want them to object. We have given a proper explanation, the pros and cons would be written on a scroll and made public for everyone to see what it is about. If they still complaint then let them fight and if they will the duels they are free. If not, then they have to serve.”
Prince Beiming nodded as he said, “This way we will get to find out the weeds and the thorns.”
Weeds was a reference to weak soldiers, who would end up being the canon fodder, and thorns would be the people who will fight, they will be strong but they will all fight for themselves, and would have a questionable morale compass. These people would be put on a list and if they dared to betray the human forces they would be dealt accordingly.
The elders didn’t waste time, they had come up with several ways to prevent the desertion and betrayals. The carrot and stick strategy was going to be applied on a grand scale. That was the only way to promote the growth of the race, or they would all drown in the pace of the coming war.
Prince Beiming said, “Tian Long is getting worried that his cultivation would be left behind by everyone. Last week Xiao Bai reached the Dao Seed Realm.”
Shi Lang shook his head and replied, “Old Man, don’t believe that fucking snake, he is playing weak to extract information. He came to me and asked if their was some way to improve the pace. so I told him that his sturdy foundation would be the key. However, you know what? This father can sense how strong that bastard’s Dao Seed is. Motherfucker has been deliberately condensing it. He ain’t no fool. He is pretending so that when he breaks through to the Dao Fruit Realm, you all will be weaker than him.”
Prince Beiming was surprised, and his lips twitched as he grabbed his spear, and said, “Seems like I will get you barbeque snake tonight.”
Shi Lang shook his head and replied, “I don’t want to see that worm, you can feed him to the dogs, but be careful if Yue found you.”
Prince Beiming sighed and replied, “What has gone wrong in the past that made this girl go after this punk?”
The two dissed Tian Long for hours, this was their favorite time pass, they could do it for years. If someone saw the two of them talking now, they would think they were school students.
Shi Tao stepped inside the room, and Shi Lang smiled at her. Shi Tao had reached the peak of Dao Empress realm and now she was in the middle of condensing her Dao Seed, Shi Lang could sense the energy flow in her body. This was the perk of a sage. He asked, “Why are you out of seclusion?”
Shi Tao smiled and replied, “I came to catch some air, happened to find about the meeting and decided to hold back a little.”
Shi Lang nodded and asked, “What do you need?”
Shi Tao shook her head and said, “I came to tell you that I am going back in seclusion. Can you please handle things? Uncle Beiming and Uncle Tian both have their hands full already with training the hall members.”
Shi Lang nodded and said, “Yes, go ahead, I know what to do. Xiao Mei is still here, I will handle it with her help.”
Shi Tao nodded and then left. Shi Lang shook his head as Beiming asked, “What is that face for?”
Shi Lang smiled and replied, “The love of a daughter. She had come to check if I am fine. Would you believe me? After god knows how many years, she is still checking if my foundation is fine or did I rush it.”
Prince Beiming smiled and suddenly he took out a jade token from his space ring. He held it in his hand for a few minutes and said, “The Border Crossings have changed. The scouts have reported that the rank of the enemy races has increased.”
Shi Lang asked, “Did they send a visual report?”
Prince Beiming said, “In the Command Center.”
The two flickered and vanished from their position before appearing outside the Command Center.

Inside the command center, Hao Mei was sitting in the command chair and she stood up when the two men walked in. She said, “Things have gotten difficult. They had to deploy the canons to hold back the sudden charge from Thunder wolf race.”
Shi Lang frowned and asked, “Show me the visuals.”
Hao Mei nodded and looked at an operator, who projected the scene recording from the Dao Battlefields. Shi Lang remarked, “The borders haven’t changed. These races are using their power to subjugate these weaker races to barge in and attack us. I had discussed with Miwa family before coming back. The Dao borders are fixed, only the rewards, such as the density of the spirit energy change. These thunder wolves are stronger and thus they can break through the thickened barrier with ease.”
Hao Mei asked, “But what is the motive?”
Shi Lang replied, “Plunder what else. In the world of cultivation, plundering others is the quickest way to gather resources. This is why the struggle in the upper ranks is so intense.”
Prince Beiming asked, “The middle tiers is the problem. The upper races don’t actually find anything interesting about us, yet.”
Shi Lang agreed, he said, “This is why I told the war council to develop our resources in a strategic manner. Only then can we raise our level and rank among these things.”
Hao Mei scratched her head and asked, “Baba, what is the point of these ranks?”
Shi Lang smiled and replied, “It is power, and access to something bigger than this plain, my dear. I am not sure what it is yet, but whatever it is, I am sure the one who gets access to this power and status must be someone strong.”
The two people nodded, and Shi Lang said, “For now, increase the production of the canons, and deploy them on the battlefields. Take note, we must avoid casualties so coordinate with the other forces and come up with better defense.”
Hao Mei nodded and after a thought she said, “Baba, I was thinking if we should ask for a united military force?”
Shi Lang was surprised and asked, “Why do you say that?”
Hao Mei replied, “Well, the system of a unified military force is very conducive to reward and punishment. It would simplify the situation for us, and we can host a strength assessment and a tactic assessment to assign the various designations. Plus, it would combine the resource pool of the entire race and will give us a better chance to grow stably.”
Shi Lang thought about it and said, “Good, we will do this.”
He patted her head and said, “You caught the essence of the word, strategic. Good job.”
Hao Mei smiled like a blooming flower and then she turned back to her normal look as she said, “I will ask Uncle Tian to handle this.”
Shi Lang nodded and said, “Go. That thing can use some work.”
