A Person with Morals gets Transported to Another World [LitRPG] [Satire]

Chapter 99 – They’re Crafty People

Rye placed the demonic items in a safe location and then stood in front of me with a serious expression. She contemplated what to say for a few moments. I contemplated whether I would be untied any time soon.

The girl finally spoke and said, “So what’ll you have us make?”

“Hmm?” I was confused by the question. I hadn’t come to commission an item. My main goal was to find out the mystery of the Church’s holy water.

“For items of such rarity, the whole club will bring any desire of yours to life,” Rye said. She didn’t seem like she was joking.

I dismissively said, “Any desire? Aren’t you overestimating your capabilities? You should at least specify some limitations for me, so I don’t ask you to make something impossible.” I was greatly impressed with the disguise that Rye had made for me, but it was within the realm of a craftsman’s capacity. Rye was now posturing as if she could make a particle accelerator.

I took a gander at the other members of the club, and they all stood as seriously as Rye. They were awaiting my instruction.

Rye said again, “Name anything you want us to make, and we’ll do it.” Her gaze did not falter in the slightest.

I felt somewhat in a predicament because there were things that I wanted that couldn’t be made, but what could be made were things that I didn’t want. Since the club was so confident, I shot out an impossible desire. “Alright then, make me an Elixir of Mind,” I said.

Rye smiled and tried vainly to conceal her laughter. She whipped out a spanner and twirled it between her fingers. “It will take no time at all,” she said. She paused to catch the spanner in her other hand. “To deny that request. We’re craftsmen not alchemists! Of course we can’t make an Elixir of Mind. Be realistic.” She tapped the spanner on the tip-top of my head.

“Then why were you all so confident just a second ago?” I shouted. I wasn’t expecting anything, but they didn’t even make an attempt.

Rye tightened the adjustable spanner on my nose and pulled my head around. “Ask us for something else.”

Her behaviour was highly irritating, especially considering that I was tied up and I had just brought them a rare gift. In my annoyance, I flippantly said, “Fine. Combine all the needles in my bag into an all-in-one all-purpose multifunctional super needle, that can multiply and return to me when thrown.”

I thought such a ridiculous request would shut Rye up.

But that didn’t happen. Rye exhaled and said, “Finally a realistic request.”

Another club member rolled their eyes and said, “Other people ask such impossible things of us. It’s nice to have an easy task for once.”

Someone stretched their arms and said, “Guess we’ll be able to go home early today.”

The whole clubroom got busy with my assignment. I was surprised that they all thought what I asked was so simple to accomplish. It didn’t seem as if they were putting on an act either. Inspecting each of them, I saw every single person was contributing to the production of my super needle.

Not one member of the club was left without work. And both their teamwork and communication were so seamless. Without direction, they all knew the parts they needed to play.

I watched them pull out exotic components and use them in the crafting process, though the demonic materials were left untouched. They were apparently unnecessary for the creation of my super needle.

Even though I had a front row seat to this crafting process, I couldn’t make sense of what was happening. My high Mind couldn’t figure out all the complex motions the club members were making.

By the end of it, Rye presented me with a regular looking acupuncture needle. She said, “There’s a time and place for everything, and that time and place is right here and right now.”

I shook my head. The spanner dangling from my nose gave me a little pain. “Can you cool it with these weird time-centred punchlines?” I asked.

She held the needle between her fingers and shapeshifted it into an acupuncture dart. An assistant club member held up a dartboard. Rye threw the dart at the board and scored a bullseye. However, that was only because the assistant club member had moved the board to match the thrown dart.

Rye then demonstrated that the dart could float back to her fingers, but the dart also remained in the board. Rye had multiplied the dart into two and then returned one to her hand.

I was amazed. This was more than I could ever ask for.

Then she dropped the dart onto the floor. It made no noise. She floated the dart back to her hand. “Three acupuncture darts, multiple sturdy needles, and a soundless pick all combined into one nifty little needle. It can multiply, it can return, it can self-sterilise. The only thing it can’t do is make noise. Voila.”

It was able to sterilise itself too? These people had thought of everything. They even went above and beyond by incorporating my soundless pick. I did not know the worth of the demonic horn or the milk, but it was surely less than what I had just gained.

I had countless ideas whirling in my head for how to use the new item.

“Are you satisfied?” Rye asked.

I smiled at her. I was more than satisfied. I parted my lips and proclaimed, “They say time reveals all things, but in this case, I’ll be the one doing the revealing.”

Rye became confused and looked around at her associates. She whispered to them, “What’s going on? Why is he suddenly talking about time?”

They whispered among themselves, “I think he’s trying to sound cool.”

Another said, “I hope he’s not revealing anything indecent.”

My attempt to copy Rye’s time-based one-liners did not work. My cheeks were quickly becoming flush with embarrassment. My Iron Will didn’t seem to help.

I shook the spanner off of my nose and said, “Well done, everyone. I love the product. Thank you.”

They all cheered and started applauding. Shoulders were punched and backs were patted. The atmosphere of the entire room was contagiously joyous. Even I was caught in the happiness, though I had not done anything.

The club members revelled in what they had created and what they had attained.

Celebrations were made and many words were exchanged, but the day was coming to an end, so everyone ended up leaving.

I was still smiling from the afterglow.

What a lovely time we all shared together, though, there was a problem. Everyone was so caught up in the moment, that no one had untied me. I was bound to a chair in an empty classroom.

I shouted for help, but no one came. This area of the school was secluded, and the day was approaching its end.

Staring at the ceiling, I regretted not asking to be released much earlier.

At least the chair I was sitting in was comfortable. That gave me some solace.

I sat in silence.

One side of me blamed myself for this situation, but the other side blamed the Crafting Club for not having the consideration to release me.

Playing the blame game did not help.

Then a spark of brilliance came. I could Fast Travel to my bedroom or the hidden dungeon. Then, from there, I could teleport back to the Mind Balloon that was currently across from me, on a table.

I opened the System with my mind. A strange buzzing sound started when I did so. The System had never made such a sound before, but I disregarded it. Getting out of my bindings was more important than new sound prompts.

I navigated the System and got to the map menu.

Therein, I saw the three spots I could Fast Travel to at any time: my bedroom, the Eastern Forest Hidden Dungeon, and the Mind Balloon. I didn’t want to be noticed by any of my fellow Earthlings, so I opted to teleport to the secret dungeon.

When I did, a new popup that I had never seen before appeared.

[You may not Fast Travel when hostile creatures are nearby.]

I did not know that such a restriction existed, but it worried me that it was appearing for the first time now. Was an enemy about to appear at the doorframe? If so, I would be doomed. With my body tied up, I wouldn’t have the ability to defend myself.

I stared expectantly at the clubroom’s entrance, but nothing came. The school was empty. Not even distant footsteps could be heard.

However, something foreign still remained in the clubroom. That buzzing sound. At first, I thought it was coming from my System, but I had already closed it.

I examined the clubroom’s various objects, of which there were many. Honing my senses, I eventually located the origin of the sound.

Upon a distant table, there was a large glass container, and inside it there were creatures making that distinct buzzing sound.

On the glass container there was a note that read, ‘DO NOT OPEN: KILLER NIGHT-WASPS INSIDE’.

I groaned to myself. From their name, I guessed these wasps awakened at night, and that they were out to get me. Because of that, I was now unable to use my Fast Travel ability.

What rotten luck.

With no ideas left on how to escape, I resigned myself to my fate. I laid back and closed my eyes.

Stuck in a comfortable chair, with no aid nearby, I fell asleep in the Crafting Club’s clubroom, to the humming lullaby of buzzing killer wasps.
