Chapter 1240: Something pulling him

With this thick killing intent around him, it seemed that none of the things that were in this Forest of Death dared to mess with him.

But it wasn’t as if this killing intent overwhelmed him either.

It was certainly a bit daunting with how thick it was, but Lin Fan could tell that he was able to control it quite easily. It only took a single thought for him to manipulate it to stretch out around him.

When he used this killing intent to surround one of the plants that was nearby, it started to tremble even though it couldn’t move at all.

With the way that it trembled, it seemed like it was trying to break out of the ground and escape from this place.

In the end, the plant even snapped itself because of how much it was struggling as it tried to break free of the roots that were holding it in the ground. These roots belonged to this plant, but it didn’t seem to care.

All it wanted was to leave this place.

It seemed that killing intent really reigned supreme in this Forest of Death.

“But unless something changed them so that they accepted this truth, they wouldn’t act this way.” Lin Fan said to himself as he observed this plant.

No matter how he looked at it, the killing intent focus in this Forest of Death really was a strange thing.

It was just that there were no clues for him to follow up on.

He had surrounded himself in this killing intent, but it wasn’t as if it would lead him anywhere…that was until Lin Fan remembered that there was this strange sensation that came to him when he first got this killing intent.

It was as if there was something that had connected to him through the killing intent.

He had no idea what that connection was, but it should be related to why killing intent was so prevalent in this place.

“How do I sense it though?” Lin Fan couldn’t help saying to himself as he closed his eyes to connect to that feeling from before.

He wasn’t actually worried that anything would attack him since his spiritual sense was up around him during this process. If there was anything that approached him, Lin Fan would immediately be able to sense it.

After all, the suppression to his spiritual sense was only when he spread it out.

To a certain point, he was still able to use his spiritual sense normally.

But after closing his eyes and trying to connect to the feeling from before, Lin Fan found that there wasn’t a single thing. It was as if whatever he had felt before had cut the connection to him.

Lin Fan didn’t know what to do until he tried probing the killing intent with his spiritual sense.

When his spiritual sense made contact with the killing intent, it was as if there was some kind of resonance that came from the killing intent. It seemed that the spiritual sense was able to find the source of the killing intent as there was the same sensation as before.

No, it was even stronger than before.

It seemed like there was something that was pulling him in a certain direction with the sensation that came over him.

“Is it the source of this killing intent?”

With his testing of the killing intent, Lin Fan already knew that it wasn’t normal.

After all, there was no killing intent that was this easy to control and grow.

The fact that he was able to do so meant that there was something that was restraining it that he was able to control it like this. This was most likely what this sensation that was pulling him was.

Power that was controlled by something else definitely wasn’t power that was useful.

This kind of power wouldn’t be reliable when it mattered the most.

So Lin Fan was already thinking of a way to get rid of this power before leaving this place.

He didn’t want this kind of killing intent in the first place.

Once he located the direction that he was being pulled in, Lin Fan didn’t hesitate to move in that direction. He wanted to see just what it was that had created this place.

Though in his heart, there was a part of him that couldn’t help wondering, “It wouldn’t be something related to another Outer God, right?”

He tried to keep this thought inside of himself, but it really felt like this was the case the more that he thought about it.

Still, there was nothing that he could do as he continued deeper into this Forest of Death.

After a while, Lin Fan could tell that this place was different from where he was previously.

This was because there were things that were attacking him once more.

These were things that had even stronger killing intent than him, though they were weaker so it wasn’t as if they could do anything to him. Still, Lin Fan didn’t want to kill these things now since he didn’t want to grow his killing intent.

The killing intent wasn’t something that he controlled, so of course he wanted to get rid of it instead of letting it grow.

However, the problem was that these plants and animals didn’t seem to back down even though they were easily being restrained. It seemed that as long as there wasn’t the killing intent deterring them, they didn’t run away that easily.

They were different from those animals and plants in the outer area of the Forest of Death.

After all, those plants and animals at least still knew fear and didn’t keep charging forward when they were being easily restrained. It seemed that they knew that they couldn’t win, so they ran away even though Lin Fan hadn’t had his killing intent.

“It seems that the more killing intent that they have, the more they are corrupted? The more that they are corrupted, the more bloodthirsty they are and less they care about their own lives.” Lin Fan couldn’t help saying to himself as he observed the ones that he subdued.

Their reactions clearly showed just how much they had been changed by the killing intent.

Whatever this thing was, it clearly didn’t care about the life and death of the things that it gave the killing intent to.

But then again, the killing intent that it gave wouldn’t just disappear.

If the things with killing intent died, it seemed that this was passed on to whoever killed it.

Even in the case of the plants that shouldn’t have been considered living beings, they still possessed killing and could pass it on when they were killed.

It really seemed like this was some kind of experiment that had been set up by the one that had created this Forest of Death. This also made Lin Fan more and more curious about what the intentions of this person were.

After all, to create something like the Forest of Death definitely wasn’t easy. So for them to go this far, there had to be something that they wanted out of this.

It took a while for Lin Fan to move forward since he had to subdue all of these things that came at him.

It would be much easier to kill them, but he couldn’t do that since he didn’t want to increase his killing intent. That was why the only thing that Lin Fan could do was restrain all of these plants and animals that came at him with gravity.

However, there was only so much gravity that he could release.

Eventually, even Lin Fan would run out of this power and wouldn’t be able to restrain them anymore if more of them came.

It was a good thing that he arrived at his destination before that happened.

It was a small mountain that this pulling sensation led him to.

Standing in front of this mountain, Lin Fan could feel that whatever it was that was pulling him in was in the center of this mountain. At the same time, he could even tell that whatever it was was hidden deep inside of the mountain.

However, Lin Fan didn’t seem keen to enter this place.

Since this was where whatever was controlling the killing intent in this place was, there was no doubt that this place was its lair. Since this was its lair, then it would have prepared all kinds of things to deal with intruders.

So if he wanted to enter this place…he had to find a way to get past all of the defenses and reach the thing controlling the killing intent.

“It doesn’t seem likely that I’ll be able to break through all of the defenders by myself. It seems even more unlikely that I’ll be able to hide since I have this killing intent around myself.” Lin Fan muttered to himself as he observed this mountain.

In the end, Lin Fan decided that the best thing to do was to get Haku once more.

While it would mean that he would be admitting that he couldn’t handle it, it was better to be safe than sorry.

So with this, Lin Fan turned to leave this place.

He still hadn’t provoked anything that he shouldn’t have provoked, so he was able to make his way back without a problem. The things that attacked didn’t go further than a certain point since they didn’t want to leave the depths of this Forest of Death.

The problem came when he tried to leave this Forest of Death.

“It’s not letting me?” Lin Fan muttered to himself.
