Ugly, Fat, and Vicious? My Five Beast Husbands Are Obsessed Anyway

Chapter 47: The Death Stare

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: The Death Stare

Su Luoluo was amazed by how quickly Su Yang’s expression changed, but she had deliberately told him first.

She had been out all night. To avoid punishment, she had to offer up something to appease Su Yang.

He had the final say in the entire tribe.

If she could get him on her side, her own life would naturally be much easier.

’It’s always good to have a big tree for shade,’ she thought. That was exactly it!

When Su Nuannuan heard Su Luoluo say she had found salt, her expression darkened.

’How could Su Luoluo be so lucky? To find a Salt Well on a single trip out?’

’She had gone to all the trouble of making sure people noticed Su Luoluo had been out all night, and was just about to teach her a lesson and make her stay put in the tribe and cook, as she should.’

’And now, in the blink of an eye, she’d found a Salt Well?’

Su Luoluo untied the Beast Skin Bag, grabbed a handful of salt from inside, and held it out. "Father, look. This is the salt I found."

Lan Ya, who was standing to the side, looked on in disbelief when she heard Su Luoluo had found salt.

’That ugly, fat slacker Su Luoluo could actually find salt?’

She found it hard to believe.

When she saw Su Luoluo place a handful of salt in Su Yang’s hand, she hurried over to take a look.

She saw that the "salt" was coarse and granular, almost like gravel. It had a yellowish-gray color with a hint of brown.

She burst out laughing on the spot. "What kind of salt is this supposed to be?! It’s coarse and lumpy, and not only is it not white, it’s full of other colors! Su Luoluo, you’re getting more and more audacious. How dare you try to fool us like this?"

’I knew it,’ she thought. ’How could someone like Su Luoluo ever find something as precious as salt?’

As the leader, Su Yang was more worldly. He studied the salt in his hand and didn’t immediately dismiss it. Instead, he dipped a finger from his other hand into the crystals and tasted them. An intensely salty and astringent flavor instantly spread across his tongue.

He nodded. "This is indeed salt."

With that, he leaned to the side and said to Su Zhao, "Here, take a look."

Su Zhao hadn’t believed Su Luoluo at first either. But seeing the coarse salt, he realized it looked similar to the unprocessed salt he’d seen on trips to the city. He examined it closely, then nodded and said:

"That’s right, it’s salt. I’ve seen people from the city hauling this stuff in before. But not long after, the salt that reaches us is always fine and white."

He sighed. "So even if we have this salt, we don’t know how to make the snow-white kind. It’s still unusable."

Su Nuannuan felt much better hearing this. ’So what if Su Luoluo found salt?’ she thought. ’It’s useless in the end. All that effort for nothing.’

Su Luoluo listened and just smiled. "Of course you can’t eat coarse salt. But I can purify it and turn it into fine, white salt."

Hearing her confidence, Su Zhao said disbelievingly, "Don’t talk nonsense. Only the nobles in the city know how to refine salt."

Su Luoluo rolled her eyes at him. "You’ll know whether I can do it or not when I’ve purified it, won’t you?"

’Her brother wasn’t a bad person,’ Su Luoluo had always thought. ’He’s just an idiot.’

’She tells him she can do it, and he still doesn’t get it.’

In contrast to Su Zhao’s doubt, Su Yang was much more receptive. "Luoluo, can you really make this salt fine and white?"

Su Luoluo nodded confidently. "I really can, Father."

"Good child. If you need any help, just tell me. I’ll come and watch when the time comes."

Su Luoluo nodded. "No problem."

The Beast Skin Bag held salt, but what about the other things?

The Beastmen couldn’t wait to ask, "Su Luoluo, what are those reddish-brown things?"

Su Luoluo was very proud of the pottery she had fired.

After all, it was her first attempt, and it had been a resounding success.

So when the Beastmen asked, she was happy to answer.

"This is pottery I made. See? This is a pot, this is a bowl, that’s a teacup... and here are some jars..."

"A pot? Don’t we have stone pots?" a female asked, confused.

"It takes too long to cook things in a stone pot. Food cooks much faster in this pottery pot, and it’s very light," Su Luoluo explained with a smile.

Hearing this, the female hefted the pottery pot and exclaimed in delight, "It really is much lighter than a stone pot!"

"Then why did you make three of these identical things?"

"This one is large, this one is medium, and this one is small. It makes it easier to use the right pot for different foods."

"You’ve thought of everything!"

"This... pot-tery stuff. Where did you get it?"

"I made it myself!"

"Made it yourself?" The female was stunned. The objects looked so solid; how could anyone make them on their own?

"Did you grind it out of stone?"

The stone pots they currently used were ground by hand, so they assumed Su Luoluo’s pottery was made the same way.

Su Luoluo shook her head. "No. You shape it out of clay, then fire it for a day."

"You’re saying... all these things were made by firing mud?"

Everyone present was in disbelief. How was that possible?

Nantu hadn’t been in the tribe, but he returned when he heard that Xiao Ye and the others were back.

When he saw what Su Luoluo was holding, he, too, was a little taken aback.

He had just returned from a trip to the Royal City, where some high-ranking nobles had started using things similar to what Su Luoluo was holding.

Theirs, however, were gray and much cruder than the ones she held.

’How could she know about such things, all the way out here in this remote tribe?’

Thinking of this, he asked in surprise, "You said you made these yourself?"

His voice was still cool and detached, but it was a vast improvement over his earlier accusatory tone.

Su Luoluo looked at him and gave a slight nod. "I did."

Still finding it hard to believe, he looked toward Fu Feng and the others.

Fu Feng glanced at the pottery in Su Luoluo’s hands and nodded. "She really did make it. We saw it with our own eyes."

Xiao Ye nodded as well. "That’s why we had to wait outside all night—to fire these."

Mo Xuan added with a smile, "These things had to be fired for a whole night to turn out like this."

Hearing this, Nantu couldn’t help but see Su Luoluo in a new light.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host. Nantu’s Heartbeat Value has increased. Would you like to check it?"

Su Luoluo thought to herself, ’How much did it go up?’

"It has gone from -100 to -50."

Su Luoluo: "..."

’That’s not much of an increase.’

’But it’s better than nothing.’

’Looks like this Nantu is a sapiosexual. Maybe that’s the angle I should use to win him over.’

Just as Su Luoluo was pondering how to appear more intelligent, a Beastman suddenly asked the million-dollar question: "Luoluo, there aren’t any caves out there, are there? So how did you and your Beastman partners sleep?"

Su Luoluo: "!"

’Are primitive people really this uninhibited?’

She frantically looked toward Fu Feng and the other two, but the three of them hastily grabbed the salt and pottery and made a quick getaway.

Leaving her standing there all alone.

This time, in addition to Luan Ting, Nantu was also watching her thoughtfully.
