Chapter 27: The Power of the Seduction Fruit
Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Power of the Seduction Fruit
After finishing the corn porridge, Su Luoluo handed each of the two men a roasted ear of corn.
The sweet corn, once roasted, gave off an aroma that was almost sugary.
The two of them had been roasting the corn for a long time and couldn’t resist any longer. They picked them up and started gnawing away.
In just a short while, they had nearly finished an entire ear.
After they finished, they held out their hands to Su Luoluo, asking for more.
This time, Su Luoluo didn’t give them any. She set the corn aside, looked at the two of them, and said, "There’s no more. Breakfast is over for today."
’We roasted this corn. There were seven ears in total, so how could there be no more?’
Mo Xuan pointed at the ones on the ground. "Aren’t there still some here?"
Su Luoluo nodded. "There are, but these remaining ones are for me to give to someone else."
Mo Xuan started to say something, but he stopped himself, thinking that if he wanted to keep eating Su Luoluo’s cooking, he’d better not be nosy. Otherwise, he might not get any more food.
Xiao Ye figured Su Luoluo was probably going to take them to Su Yang, so he didn’t ask either.
After all, she had shared the chicken last time.
The breakfast left the three of them feeling comfortable and in a much better mood.
After finishing his meal, Mo Xuan didn’t forget what Su Luoluo had asked him to do. He turned and asked, "Where do you want to build the house?"
’At this stage, the most primitive people could manage were semi-subterranean pit-houses.’
’As someone from the Post-apocalypse, I know about many types of houses, but I only know *of* them, not how to actually build them.’
’So I can only go with the primitive methods.’
Su Luoluo had already decided on the location.
It needed to be on higher ground with good drainage. The southeast corner of the tribe’s encampment happened to fit these conditions perfectly.
There were relatively fewer people there, but it wasn’t so far as to be isolated from the rest of the tribe.
Although she preferred quieter places, it was still better to live near where everyone else was.
If something happened, it would be easier to call for help.
’The only thing is, it will definitely be a bit noisy at night.’
Su Luoluo had experienced it firsthand last night. The sounds of lovemaking would probably be unavoidable.
But for Su Luoluo, as long as she could stay alive, something like that wasn’t worth mentioning.
After listening, Mo Xuan didn’t say another word. He called to Xiao Ye, and the two of them vanished from the spot like a gust of wind.
Su Luoluo stared at their astonishing speed, dazed for a moment before she could process it.
’That speed... it’s almost as fast as the mutated zombies from the Post-apocalypse.’
Su Luoluo had initially wanted to specify what kind of wood to choose, but then she reconsidered. ’They’re better at this sort of thing.’
’It’s best to leave professional matters to the professionals!’
Mo Xuan and Xiao Ye went to cut down trees, so she returned to the tribal encampment.
It was time to deliver the freshly roasted corn. It wouldn’t taste as good if it got cold.
Compared to Fu Feng, Luan Ting was easier to find.
She found him without any trouble at the sharpening stone.
Just like last time, he was there sharpening his weapon on the stone, preparing for the upcoming hunt.
When Su Luoluo saw him, she held out the corn directly. "This is for you. Roasted corn is sweet and really delicious."
This time, Luan Ting didn’t refuse outright, but his hands were full, making it inconvenient to take the corn.
Seeing this, Su Luoluo took out a leaf, placed it to the side, and set the two ears of corn on it.
"I’ll leave it here. You can eat it later."
The leaf was originally what she’d used to wrap the corn, so it was perfect for holding it now.
Luan Ting’s corn was delivered, but Fu Feng’s portion was still left.
Su Luoluo searched around but couldn’t see him. She figured if she couldn’t find him, she’d just forget about it.
But just as she rounded a corner, she ran right into him.
She was still holding the corn in her arms, not yet having given it to him, when he shot her a fierce look. "Su Luoluo, what nonsense are you spouting now!"
"Nonsense?" Su Luoluo froze upon hearing his words.
’What did I say?’
She had been busy cooking all morning and had only just returned.
She looked at Fu Feng, confused. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"You don’t know what I’m talking about? If you don’t know, then how did that rumor get spread around so convincingly?"
"That rumor? What rumor?" Su Luoluo was completely baffled.
"Playing dumb? Go on, keep playing. Let’s see how long you can keep this act up today." A hint of mockery flashed in Fu Feng’s eyes, and his tone became rude.
Su Luoluo found this whole thing baffling, and now she had to listen to Fu Feng’s sharp, cutting words.
She couldn’t hold back any longer. "Fu Feng, if you want to go crazy, go find someone else. I don’t have time for you."
"Me, go crazy? Is a certain someone afraid to admit what she said? And you even had the nerve to say we consummated our union." Fu Feng’s lips curved down in a sneer, his words dripping with even more contempt.
"What did you say? Consummated?" Su Luoluo had been fuming at Fu Feng’s words, but in the next second, she froze on the spot.
"What, you don’t even remember your own words?" Fu Feng shot Su Luoluo a sidelong glance.
"When did I say that? Where did you hear it?"
"It’s all over the tribe. They’re saying that you, Su Luoluo, woke up this morning with a sore back and didn’t sleep well."
Hearing this, Su Luoluo finally understood. "I said my back was sore and that I didn’t sleep well last night, but did I ever personally say we consummated our union? Fu Feng, before you start accusing people, can you please get your facts straight and not frame me?"
"You didn’t say that on purpose?"
"How was I supposed to know they would twist my words? I slept on the ground all night—of course my back is sore! And as for not sleeping well, do you really think I could get a good night’s sleep after running into that snake?"
Fu Feng fell silent. What Su Luoluo said did make sense.
Su Luoluo had originally wanted to improve her relationship with Fu Feng, but now she didn’t even feel like talking to him.
She directly shoved the two ears of corn she’d brought into his hands. "Here, take this. I made it this morning. Consider it my way of thanking you for your help yesterday."
With that, she turned and left.
Fu Feng stared at the corn in his hands, a look of surprise on his face. ’Since when did Su Luoluo know how to repay a kindness?’
’Pigs must be flying.’
Meanwhile, Mo Xuan and Xiao Ye were cutting down trees and hauling the lumber. In no time, they had gathered all the materials needed to build the house.
Su Luoluo pointed to one of the walls. "Cut a window there."
The commotion from the house-building was not small, and it quickly attracted the attention of the tribespeople.
Seeing Mo Xuan and Xiao Ye—two men who usually didn’t give Su Luoluo the time of day—actually helping her build a house, they were completely astonished.
"Did you see that? Xiao Ye is actually helping Su Luoluo build a house!"
"I know, right? Why are they suddenly helping her?"
"See! I told you! What Su Luoluo said this morning was true, and you all didn’t believe me."
...
Su Nuannuan stood to the side, listening. Her eyes were filled with a venomous malice, as if they had been dipped in poison.
Su Luoluo was too focused on building her house to notice.
Once the house was finished, she happily carried her belongings inside.
It was just a few personal items: the Beast Skin Skirt she wore and a beast skin blanket.
The wind was strong at night, and things made from beast skin were better for staying warm.
During the afternoon rest period, most of the tribespeople were out.
Su Luoluo figured that wild beasts wouldn’t come near during the day, so she felt safe enough to take a nap.
But just as she pulled the blanket over herself, her head grew groggy. A figure approached. She shook her head and threw her arms around the person...
