Chapter 50: PHOENIX BLOODLINE WEAKENING

Chapter 50: PHOENIX BLOODLINE WEAKENING

EMELIANNA/ELENA

Emelianna took a deep breath before stepping through the metallic door.

The door opened with a low mechanical hiss.

Inside was a vast chamber decorated with ancient golden symbols.

At the far end of the room, a young-looking man sat on a massive throne.

He appeared to be no older than thirty.

But appearances were deceiving. He was over two hundred years old.

Emelianna lowered her head and bowed deeply.

"Your Majesty."

The man sitting on the throne was King Astronova, the ruler of the Astronova royal family.

His stern gaze fell upon her. "Why haven’t you brought your daughter back?"

Emelianna’s heart tightened. "I apologize, Your Majesty. I have failed you."

She lowered herself onto one knee.

"I tried everything. I pleaded with her, threatened her, and ordered her to return, but she refused to listen."

The King’s expression darkened. "You told me she would always obey you!! And you have her wrapped around your fingers?"

His voice echoed through the chamber. "So why has she suddenly become so rebellious?"

He leaned forward. "What kind of mother cannot even control one brat?"

Emelianna clenched her fists. Then she lowered her head until her forehead nearly touched the floor.

"My King, I have failed as a mother. I accept my fault."

Her voice was low. "But I promise I will do better."

"Do better?"

King Astronova scoffed. "How long have you been saying that?"

Emelianna remained silent. "You are a disgrace to this bloodline."

His voice became colder. "You are foolish. Incompetent. I gave you one simple task, and you couldn’t even accomplish it!"

Emelianna’s nails dug into her palms till it bled.

"Now even King Aston has rejected the partnership with Elena. Now an ordinary Merfolk king is requesting partnership.!! "

The King’s eyes narrowed. "Do you understand what we have lost? Do you know how much power king Aston and Commander Caelan have? Till now you haven’t finalized her partnership with Caelan? If not for the Merfolk’s Wealth..do you think those smelly fishes deserve my granddaughter!! How can a phoenix be compared to mere Merfolks? "

Emelianna didn’t answer.

She simply remained kneeling.

After a long silence, King Astronova waved his hand nonchallantly. He looked stressed and angry. "Stand."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Emelianna rose.

The King studied her for a moment before asking,

"Is there any news about the Fox Lotus?"

Emelianna lowered her head. "No, Your Majesty."

"Twenty years."

His voice was filled with disappointment. "You have searched for twenty years and still haven’t found a mere flower."

He leaned back against his throne.n"What use are you?"

Emelianna’s face tightened. "If you weren’t an SSS-Class, I wonder what would have become of you. If only Erica is here. What will be your use?"

She lowered her gaze. Her fists clenched harder. Her long nails dug into her palms until they drew more blood.

King Astronova continued. "Increase the search."

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"The ancient records clearly state that the Lotus exists. It must still be somewhere."

His expression became solemn. "That Lotus is our only hope of strengthening our bloodline."

He looked toward the ancient symbols carved into the walls.

"For four decades, our family has failed to produce another SSS-Class offspring."

"Our Phoenix bloodline is weakening. If we hadn’t taken extra measures to make Elena a 3S-Class female like you, who knows what would have become of our family?"

He sighed heavily.

"Now, she only needs to fight a mere S-Class beast to end up injured and in the hospital for days. What if people find out her 3S class is weak..Emelinna, we urgently need the Lotus."

His fingers tightened around the armrest.

"If this continues, we will eventually become like the Fox Clan."

"A bloodline unable to produce a single powerful female or male."

Emelianna remained silent. "The Lotus is our chance to change our fate."

He waved his hand dismissively.

"Leave...I am tired."

Emelianna bowed. "Yes, Your Majesty."

"And call Elena to me."

"Yes."

Emelianna turned and left.

Emelianna Private Chambers.

The moment Emelianna entered her room, the metallic doors closed behind her.

Her calm expression disappeared.

She kicked the nearby table.

CRASH! It toppled over.

She swept several decorations from another table. "How dare he!! A mere male treats me like this!!"

She paced across the room furiously.

"My father still doesn’t understand my importance."

Her breathing became heavier. "Without me, where would all this wealth come from?"

She clenched her fists. "Without my mother and me, he wouldn’t even be sitting on that throne!"

Her eyes burned with anger. "Yet he still shows that short-lived Erica more affection than me."

She slammed her fist against the wall. "When will I ever earn his approval? Is it when I die?"

"Mother?"

Emelianna froze. She turned toward the door.

"Come in."

The door opened. Elena stepped inside. Her golden hair fell gracefully over her shoulders.

She looked around the scattered room. "Mother, what happened?"

She smiled gently. "Is it Grandfather again?"

She walked closer. "You know he’s getting old. Don’t let his words get to you."

Emelianna’s expression suddenly changed. "Elena."

"Yes, Mother?"

"I just found out today."

Her voice was cold. "You were the one who asked your grandfather to deal with Isaac."

Elena’s smile disappeared.

"You knew what would happen to him."

Her eyes narrowed. "You knew he would be sent to Soldiers’ Grave. The soldiers aren’t that easy to manipulate. What if it gets traced back to our family, what will you do?"

Elena immediately dropped to her knees. "Mother, I’m sorry."

Emelianna stared at her angrily..

"Mother, Without him falling, Vivian would never realize how much you care about her." Elena’s eyes filled with tears.

"I..I..I..I just didn’t want Grandfather looking down on you for not being able to control her.."

She began to sob. Her tears dropped like rain. It made Emelinna’s heart hurt. She wanted to embrace her but held back.

"I wanted to help you bring Vivian home faster."

She bowed her head. "I’m sorry, Mother. I know what I did was wrong."

Her voice trembled. "I only wanted to help you."

She looked up.

"Mother, You’re more important to me than anyone’s live in this world."

Emelianna’s anger melted. She rushed forward and pulled Elena into her arms. "I’m sorry."

She stroked Elena’s golden hair. "I’m sorry I got angry with you."

Her voice softened. "You’re such a kind and sweet girl."

"I don’t want you doing bad things because of me."

Elena smiled through her tears.

Emelianna hugged her tighter. "You’re my precious daughter."

Elena smiled. "Don’t worry, Mother. I know my limits."

She gently pulled away. "And mother, don’t feel bad about Isaac."

Her expression became colder. "He betrayed you first."

"He hurt you."

"He deserved to pay."

Emelianna stared at her daughter. Then she smiled proudly. "You’re such a good girl. Always thinking about Mother."

She caressed Elena’s cheek. "Sometimes I wonder what good deeds I must have done in my previous life to be blessed with a daughter like you."

Elena smiled sweetly. "Mother..."

"Yes?"

"I’ve been feeling weak lately."

Emelianna’s expression immediately changed.

"Weak? What is wrong?"

Elena nodded.

"I think..."

She hesitated. "I need her blood again."

Emelianna went silent. Elena’s smile slowly returned. "Mother, I heard Vivian has gone blind."

Her golden eyes gleamed. "Perhaps..."

"We can use this opportunity to bring her back home."
