Luo Ziling, accompanied by Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun, returned to Ling Ruonan’s residence to find that she was already waiting in the living room.

Seeing Ling Ruonan’s enchanting beauty, even though Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun had already seen her photos, they were still momentarily stunned.

“Sister-in-law, it’s quite late, and I’m really sorry for disturbing your sleep,” Yang Xiaodong apologized somewhat awkwardly, took something out of his embrace, and handed it to Ling Ruonan, “This is a letter that the boss entrusted us to deliver to you, and this as well.”

“Thank you both for your effort,” Ling Ruonan smiled and greeted the two men, “Have you just arrived in Yanjing?”

The two men nodded.

“Is your accommodation arranged?” Ling Ruonan asked again.

“It’s all set,” Yang Xiaodong said with a smile, assuring Ling Ruonan not to worry about such matters, “Sister-in-law, you don’t need to worry about anything, we’ve taken care of everything. Just command us on what needs to be done.”

Ling Ruonan hadn’t expected the men arranged by Luo Xusheng to arrive in Yanjing so quickly, and her heart was full of pleasant surprise. However, she had already decided how to deploy these two, and immediately said, “You two will take charge of Ling’er’s safety alone. Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun promptly agreed.

Ling Ruonan called Wuyue in and introduced her as her personal assistant to Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun, stating that Wuyue was in charge of all her personal affairs and that from now on, all arrangements for the security team would be handled by her.

Observing the surprise and slight disapproval on the faces of the two men, Wuyue graciously extended her hand, introduced herself, and then mentioned the number of the military unit she had previously served in.

It was unexpected that such a beautiful young lady turned out to be a retired female Marine, which took the two men, already out of the special forces, by surprise.

“She has been managing those who came before, and she is my most trusted assistant,” fearing that Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun might not accept Wuyue, Ling Ruonan explained a few words especially.

“Sister-in-law, we understand,” Yang Xiaodong quickly responded.

Though he was a professional old soldier who reluctantly left his unit, he was not like most soldiers who are unaware of social intricacies, and he quickly grasped the intent behind Ling Ruonan’s arrangement.

Confidants beside a woman would certainly be women; it’s not possible for a man to be following her around all the time.

Ling Ruonan was willing to have such a beautiful retired special forces woman manage them, and they were happy to obey.

Originally, Luo Ziling thought Ling Ruonan was suspicious of the identities of these two men, but Ling Ruonan showed no doubt, which took him by surprise.

However, he no longer harbored any suspicions.

In the recent confrontation, Luo Ziling had determined that both Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun were extremely skilled and terrifyingly powerful.

Now, he also realized that these two must be his father Luo Xusheng’s trusted subordinates, and their relationship was unusually close.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t keep calling Ling Ruonan “sister-in-law” persistently, and she accepted it without hesitation.

At that moment, Luo Ziling’s phone rang. It was Yang Qingyin calling. He was startled and quickly answered the phone.

He had promised to meet with Yang Qingyin in half an hour, but after the fight with the two men who had appeared out of nowhere, he had nervously forgotten about it.

He immediately stepped aside to take the call.

Over the phone, Yang Qingyin asked confusedly where he was, wondering why he hadn’t shown up after forty-five minutes and why he hadn’t replied to her messages.

Luo Ziling told Yang Qingyin that he had been tied up with something, a sudden important matter, and that he would join her shortly. He asked her to wait a bit longer and said he would explain everything to her when they met.

Hearing that Luo Ziling had something important to deal with, Yang Qingyin understood and wasn’t angry.

When Luo Ziling returned to Ling Ruonan’s side, he heard Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun looking cheerful again, while Ling Ruonan also had a smile on her face and some blush on her cheeks. He had no idea what happy thing they had just been talking about.

“I’m really envious of the Boss, for having found such a beautiful wife,” Wang Zhenjun muttered softly, then asked Yang Xiaodong in bewilderment, “Captain, why doesn’t the Boss come back to see his wife? He’s willing to leave such a beautiful sister-in-law behind?”

“Don’t talk nonsense!” Yang Xiaodong kicked Wang Zhenjun and then apologized to Ling Ruonan somewhat embarrassingly, “Sister-in-law, he’s a bit rough around the edges, always making jokes. Please don’t mind him.”

Ling Ruonan didn’t take offense and ignored their playful banter. She instructed them, “Let’s send Ling’er back to school today. After you drop him off, go and rest yourselves, and we’ll get in touch later.”

“Okay, then sister-in-law, we’re off,” Yang Xiaodong said nonchalantly, waving his hand and pulling Wang Zhenjun away with him.

“Mom, you should go to sleep, I’ve woken you up again,” Luo Ziling said as he was leaving; Ling Ruonan had already fallen asleep. They had woken her up earlier, and Luo Ziling was worried that Ling Ruonan couldn’t sleep again. He added softly, “If you can’t sleep, you can take the calming medicine I gave you; it should help you sleep soundly.”

Ling Ruonan agreed.

As Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun walked out of the living room first, Ling Ruonan pulled Luo Ziling aside to give him some instructions.

“Ling’er, from now on, let them follow you around. They are comrades who have been through life and death with your dad and will certainly protect your safety. Also, your father instructed that you can use them to expose the hidden enemy targeting you. They are well-rounded ‘soldier kings’ with excellent counter-surveillance skills, far superior to anyone previously assigned to protect me. Make good use of them so that we are not always on the defensive,” she said.
