Chapter 597: Chapter 597 This is a Promise
“Mrs. Ling, I’ve come to disturb your peace again,” Yang Qingyin said politely as she greeted her, “I had dinner with Ziling tonight and he seemed a bit upset, so I came over to keep him company and chat.”
Ling Ruonan glanced at Luo Ziling, slightly annoyed that he had told Yang Qingyin about today’s events.
Yang Qingyin, as though she read Ling Ruonan’s thoughts, quickly explained, “Mrs. Ling, whatever it is, I won’t tell anyone. I’ve never disclosed past matters to anyone.”
“Let’s go inside to talk,” Ling Ruonan replied without elaborating, signaling Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin to speak in the room.
Having entered with an expressionless face, Wuyue set down some of Ling Ruonan’s belongings and nodded at Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin as a greeting, before leaving the living room.
“Mrs. Ling, I’ll be leaving in a bit, shall we talk for a moment first?” Yang Qingyin looked at Luo Ziling and then earnestly at Ling Ruonan, “I hope Mrs. Ling can trust me.”
“Alright,” Ling Ruonan said, inviting Yang Qingyin to speak with her in the study.
After the two women entered the study, Luo Ziling, who had stayed in the living room, stepped out and saw Wuyue outside giving instructions to the bodyguards clad in black, so he walked over.
By the time Luo Ziling approached, Wuyue had already sent several bodyguards away. Seeing their mysterious demeanor, he asked with curiosity, “Sister Wuyue, what happened?”
“Nothing happened tonight; all is safe, but I fear any unexpected incidents, so I’ve told them all to be cautious,” Wuyue said softly, “Miss also specially instructed us to be especially careful during this time, making sure no mistakes occur.”
“You’ve worked hard,” Luo Ziling understood Wuyue’s point and sincerely thanked him, “Thanks for looking after my mom’s safety. I hope nothing else will happen.”
“Young Master, you should also be careful,” Wuyue hesitated, but eventually managed to say, “You’d best stay low-profile when outside, and consider disguising yourself.”
“Thank you for the reminder, Sister Wuyue. I’ll be fine, but you all need to be careful too.”
Luo Ziling did not ask Wuyue further, as he wanted to talk with Ling Ruonan first. After understanding the evening’s events from her, he would consider what to do next.
Yang Qingyin and Ling Ruonan talked in the study for about twenty minutes before coming out.
When they emerged, both women looked very serious.
“Ling’er, you take Qingyin home first,” Ling Ruonan instructed Luo Ziling, “Mom is going to take a shower, and I’ll talk to you about things afterward.”
Luo Ziling naturally agreed and accompanied Yang Qingyin as they left the villa.
“What did you talk to my mom about?” Luo Ziling asked casually.
“We talked about what happened today and what might happen next,” Yang Qingyin glanced sidelong at Luo Ziling and spoke earnestly, “Actually, during the last argument I had with my dad, I impulsively said that if they forced me to do anything, I would rather not be a daughter of the Yang Family. My dad threatened that if I did that, I would lose everything. Guess how I responded?”
“You must have insisted on your own demands,” Luo Ziling answered without hesitation, “That’s why you thought of renting a place outside and keeping yourself busy with other things, trying to secure a fallback for yourself.”
“Yeah,” Yang Qingyin said, lowering her head in resignation, “I don’t want to end up like your mother. I need to prepare a fallback for myself as early as possible. At the very least, I need a place to stay and a way out. I think once I decide I’m willing to give up everything my family has provided, I won’t have to worry about many things.”
“Don’t be afraid, I’ll support you,” Luo Ziling stopped walking and said seriously to Yang Qingyin, “If your dad really gets angry and threatens to disown you, you still have me as a strong support!”
Yang Qingyin just rolled her eyes at his words, saying nothing.
Luo Ziling took hold of Yang Qingyin’s hand and continued with equal seriousness, “I have a lot of money, given to me as compensation by someone who wronged me. Besides, I can heal and make medicine. I’ve already agreed on a few drug projects with Ouyang Feifei in exchange for some shares in her pharmaceutical company. With this money, at least we won’t have to worry about food. Even if we can’t make a lot of money, supporting the two of us won’t be a problem. So, even if your dad doesn’t want you and you don’t wish to be a daughter of the Yang Family, you can still live a princess-like life. As long as I have a dollar, I’ll spend two to buy you something.”
After listening, Yang Qingyin felt a warm feeling inside and didn’t dwell on the fact that Luo Ziling was already collaborating with Ouyang Feifei. After looking earnestly at Luo Ziling for a while, she smiled and said, “If you only have one dollar, how can you buy something worth two dollars for me?”
“I’ll go begging on the streets, or I might resort to stealing and robbing if necessary, but I won’t let you suffer,” Luo Ziling declared, laughing proudly.
“What about your mom?” Yang Qingyin tilted her head and asked, “If your mom needs your support and you don’t have any money in your pocket, what will you do then?”
“I’ll certainly make sure you both live well, even if I have to toil like an ox or a horse, I won’t let you or my mom suffer,” Luo Ziling stated, tightening his grip on Yang Qingyin’s hand, “Besides, I won’t need to steal, rob, or beg. With my medical skills and abilities, we can live a good life. I don’t just want to live well; I also want to create my own glory.”
Saying this, Luo Ziling spoke earnestly to Yang Qingyin, “If it really comes to that, I ask you to be the leading lady of the Luo Family.”
Yang Qingyin’s face flushed, and after giving him a sideways glance, she retorted, “What is this supposed to be?”
“I call it a promise. Do you believe it?”
“Hmph, no,” Yang Qingyin rolled her eyes at Luo Ziling again, but her hand squeezed his a bit tighter.
They soon reached the entrance of the residential area and stopped in a slightly darker spot, where Yang Qingyin seriously said to Luo Ziling, “Junior, don’t be disheartened. Your mom just said that no one deliberately gave her a hard time tonight, nor did they bring up the conflict from earlier in the day. It seems Sir Ling was enraged, so no one dares to mention it anymore. It looks like they still need your treatment, hence the decision to let those involved in today’s scuffle off with a penalty of three toasts.”
“Uh, what does ‘each fined three toasts’ mean?” Luo Ziling asked, puzzled.
“It means to offer apologies to each other, to not dwell on these issues, to handle it lightly and casually,” Yang Qingyin thought Luo Ziling was feigning ignorance and after rolling her eyes, she added, “So, things certainly haven’t reached a dead end, but you definitely need to watch out for their retaliation. The same goes for me. We both need to avoid making mistakes.”
“Okay!” Luo Ziling agreed.
