The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Even when using the Eye of Truth for analysis, the time required was based on Wang Ya's own understanding and the database's information. It wasn't for lack of trying. In the past two months, he had analyzed the fourth Wizard Rune and used the freed-up analytical focus on the Gendas Flesh.

Analyzing its Traits and Abilities yielded quick results, similar to the analyses he had performed back in the Maya Kingdom.

But when Wang Ya attempted to analyze its fundamental nature and comprehend the balance between illusion and reality, the estimated time was a terrifying two hundred years.

'What an appalling amount of time. Don't tell me that completing the analysis would reveal how to advance to an Official Wizard?' Wang Ya was stunned by this immense timescale. With only a little over a year left, it was utterly impossible.

He had collected almost all the books from the Library's Outer Zone. The cost to access the inner Core Area was far too high, so it was out of the question for now.

This meant that the analytical Ability of his Eye of Truth had reached its current limit.

'Should I give up on this and focus solely on mastering Energy Witchcraft and improving my own Power?'

'Would learning the two Middle-tier Witchcraft spells from the Inheritance Witch Book be enough to secure a good spot in the Secret Realm competition?' Wang Ya was sure his opponents wouldn't be so weak. They would be stronger; it was even possible there would be Level 2 Wizard Apprentices among them.

'It's not enough. Not nearly enough.'

Whatever advantages he had, his powerful rivals would have as well. He couldn't abandon his research on the Gendas Flesh, he had to learn the new Witchcraft, and he had to improve it to make it stronger and more suitable for him. His own Power couldn't lag, either—becoming a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice was a crucial threshold.

The more anxious Wang Ya felt, the calmer his thoughts became, and the cogs of his intellect began to turn furiously.

To have reached his current level of Power, the Eye of Truth had only been a secondary aid. His own intellect, hard work, and the scientific lines of reasoning from his past life had been far more crucial.

The series of research and experiments stemming from the Gendas Flesh were all based on the concept of cancer cells. Viewing the Gendas Flesh as a type of Extraordinary cancer cell, with its ability to infinitely proliferate and devour, aligned well with its observed characteristics.

Wang Ya began to have his doubts. 'Must the trait of infinite proliferation be conceived of only through the lens of cancer cells?'

'Could there be other, more subtle and diverse possibilities?'

Suddenly, an idea came to Wang Ya, striking him like a bolt of lightning.

'I've been too one-sided, too certain. The variables in a Wizard Experiment aren't so limited. Besides, the fundamental makeup of matter is vastly different between the two worlds. The matter in the Wizard World is more terrifying, more difficult to fathom and research.'

'No, to look at it another way, I shouldn't be focused on achieving the balance between illusion and reality. That's simply not something I can accomplish right now.'

'What I need to consider is how to solve the problem of the Harak bloodline's limitations, unlock more of its potential, and increase my Power to face the upcoming Secret Realm competition.'

Wang Ya's eyes grew increasingly bright. Gripping his feather pen, he began to write on a sheet of scratch paper, dense lines of text rapidly filling the blank space.

Inspiration gushed forth like a spring; his thoughts had never moved so quickly.

As time passed, one sheet of scratch paper filled with writing, then a second, and a third... Not until day had turned to night did Wang Ya finally stop, setting down his feather pen to rest his aching wrist.

Lifting his head, he broke into a smile. He might have just found the true solution.

'Why bother researching reality and illusion? In the end, the flesh of Harak and the Gendas Flesh are fundamentally different.'

'Every single fleshy filament of the latter possesses its own consciousness, allowing it to endlessly devour and giving it an unnaturally high level of vitality and survivability.'

'Attempting fusion at the flesh-and-blood level is too crude, and the chances of success are too slim. Historically, only some impatient White Wizards and Bloodline Wizards who couldn't be bothered with the tedious work would mass-release their creations into the Human Kingdoms.'

'They used the bodies of tens of millions of humans to force an adaptation to the traits of a particular substance.'

'When a massive number of beings in a species die, the survivors will spontaneously evolve the corresponding antibodies.'

'And that was the very result those Wizards were looking for.'

His own actions had been somewhat similar, though far more refined. He had used specific methods to intervene, with the Eye of Truth as an aid, which was why his approach appeared to have a greater chance of success.

Ultimately, he had been too influenced by the singular idea of an Extraordinary cancer cell. The Wizard World was, after all, different from his past life. Theories from his previous world could serve as inspiration, as starting points for experimentation, but they absolutely could not be taken as gospel and followed blindly.

Wang Ya considered this a lesson learned.

Of course, that didn't necessarily mean his idea was wrong. Ultimately, his own level was just too low. The balance between illusion and reality was something even Level 3 Wizard Apprentices and Extreme Wizard Apprentices were pursuing.

'Thinking about it that way, it really might have something to do with advancing to an Official Wizard.'

But that wasn't a problem for Wang Ya to consider right now. The Evil God's Heart and Gundas' Dog were safe in his laboratory; they weren't going anywhere. He could think about them later.

His brow furrowed slightly. This meant he could approach the problem from multiple levels: microorganisms, bacteria, and viruses.

The concept of a virus, in particular, gave Wang Ya pause. The behavior of the Gendas Flesh, besides being similar to cancer cells, also seemed to be related to viruses.
