The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss

Chapter 381: Deal [5]

"You sure are a strong one, kid, but don’t mistake your mere strength for being the reason behind my restraint."

The parasite spoke, its words clearly directed at Arthur.

Arthur being called a kid felt somewhat out of the box for me at the start, but from the parasite’s perspective, who I believed was quite a few centuries old, if not more... it appeared normal to some extent.

Arthur should have been in his forties right now, so he was indeed a kid by the parasite’s standards.

Completing its sentence, the parasite walked closer to us, while at the same time, I could feel a sort of physical manifestation of mana surrounding Arthur from all sides.

Arthur... he was getting ready for the fight in ways I couldn’t even understand at my current level of power.

Observing the side of Arthur’s face while standing behind him, the only thing I could say was that... he was tense.

Arthur was far more tense than I had ever seen him.

The encounter with Antra was a brief one, and Antra... he had never given Arthur the chance to truly display his strength.

"It’s Diana."

Feeling that proper introductions were needed, I spoke gently, my words meant for Arthur to hear.

"Hm? Seeing the look in your eyes and the tone of your voice... you don’t seem surprised. For how long had you known about me?"

The parasite—Diana asked the question in amusement, the tone of her voice not showing even the slightest hints of worry.

I had thought that she would be cautious about revealing herself before me, but the present situation showed no signs of caution from the being standing opposite me.

Had I miscalculated?

I didn’t think so, but the amusement in the eyes of the parasite made me uneasy... even if the feeling wasn’t intense.

Technically, I couldn’t really see her eyes, and maybe... it was better that way.

"The headmaster doesn’t know about you... at least not yet."

Now that the situation had come to the point of a direct confrontation, I had to carefully play the cards available at my disposal.

My words were accompanied by a complete silence in the expanse around me... as I felt slight tingles in the back of my spine.

My breathing quickened if only by a small margin, though my face showed none of the changes that were happening within my body.

"So... do you wish to tell him?"

The question was a simple one, yet its implication was far from it.

Diana observed me with her neck slightly tilted to the right side, while Arthur, on the other hand, appeared visibly tense by the question, which had been asked in the softest voice out there.

My answer... it would define the events that could occur in the immediate future.

Either we keep talking or... we keep trying to kill each other, so as to emerge as the victor and the survivor in this situation.

Despite the parasite’s complete ease and confidence in its abilities, it hadn’t attacked me since the arrival of Arthur, which meant, either it had the capability to easily kill Arthur or the parasite wasn’t at its full strength and was being cautious about Arthur’s abnormal power.

I, personally, was leaning on the second outcome, and hoped that it would be the same.

Or else... forget about my ambitions... this domain could very well become my grave—

Or would it?

"Do I wish to tell him?"

"..."

"Depends on what your stance is."

My words were met with another round of silence, as I took a step back, before standing behind the supposed shadow of Arthur’s back.

I had faith in Arthur, but at the same time... I had to be ready to act at a moment’s notice, despite knowing that my feeble strength wasn’t even worth the parasite’s attention.

"Stance...? Kid, do you seriously think that you have the ability to negotiate given the situation that you are in?"

The air around me visibly distorted, though it quickly settled down, as I felt Garthel shining once again.

I could feel a hint of annoyance in the parasite’s tone, as it asked the question.

Sigh.

"Miss... I think you are misunderstanding the situation here."

Placing my hand near my chest, I slightly nodded my head, in an act of a pretentious bow, before staring into the parasite’s ’eyes’.

"I wouldn’t dare to negotiate with you."

I could feel the tension in the air settling down, as I uttered the words, but—

"What I said was a chance for you or... an offer, if I say in the most polite of all terms."

Silence.

"My friend here is no ordinary Immortal, and I think you should have felt it already, or else... you wouldn’t have been so patient with us, would you?"

I gestured towards Arthur as I asked the question that was directed at the parasite.

"For the introductions, his name is Arthur, and trust me... I sincerely hope we could get a chance to know your name as well, instead of... offering our condolences to your corpse—"

"COME FORTH, GARTHA!"

"EVENUS DEFLACHIO!"

BOOOOM!

The world cracked once again, but this time... I could witness none of it—

BAAM!

The only thing my eyes could see as my body flew away was a dark film spreading out of Arthur and covering his vicinity, as some sort of spell, ability or something else was launched by the parasite, with both forces colliding against each other.

The sky suspended above my head... something which should have been a part of the Domain owned by the parasite, gave out a thunderous roar and for a second—

I genuinely believed that it would rain.

Haa...

My body was still flying in the air, yet I couldn’t feel the friction from any of it.

Honestly... at the moment I felt nothing.

My body felt numb, and so did my mind.

My vision which had previously been a blur, had now turned pitch black, with my thoughts spread all around in disarray... the same as the aftereffect of a pot of water landing on the ground with a sickening thud.

Sigh.

What was I even thinking about?
