Chapter 818: The Grand Opening Celebration Week 14
In a dungeon. That.. was possible. Damian had never tried to open a waygate from outside to someone inside a dungeon. The possibility of the system placing some sort of ban on him or the guy inside the dungeon in punishment was very real.
But it was also a possibility that he wouldn’t be able to access a place that technically did not exist in their time and space.
But.. Doing all this just to have a way to reach the island of demons? There had to be more to it than just that.
Neo could have taken over any ship and sailed towards the island of demons. The journey was not easy, but the guy should have had enough power and men to see it through. Compared to infiltrating Sanctuary, it was much easier.
It would be a necessity if the time it takes for the travel were a concern.
Something time-sensitive on the island of demons? Figuring out what with so little information was near impossible.
It had to be something fucked up, though. Just like that Red Knight trying to kill Reize and her sister. Both had this weird mana thread connection.
“Tell me the name of the dungeon. Only after seeing Anthony will I let you go.” Damian said.
“That is not what I just said,” Neo said, shaking his head.
“But, it is what will happen.”
“I have ordered my men to kill the mundane if they don’t hear from me or my officers in 24 hours.”
“You think entering all the dungeons available on the mainland is too hard for me? Not like I have to try all of them with your friends in my hands.” Damian replied.
Entering all the dungeons that the shadow organization had under control was indeed possible, but not without breaking Eldoris’ rules and losing the relationship with them. Unlike Sanctuary, all of the mainland still had the dungeons as the property of the ruling lord.
Even if, through Vidalia and the queen, they could force an entry, which was highly doubtful, it would still be seen as Sanctuary trying to steal their secrets and not caring about what was there at all. It would be bad for both Sanctuary and Eldoris royalty.
Still, for Sam and Anthony, Damian wouldn’t care for such things as politics or using underhanded methods to reach the dungeons and enter at least once to check it out.
But there was also an issue of bringing the beastmen intruders and forcing them to enter and bring Anthony out. Just entering on their own wouldn’t work. Through torture and other means, he could force them to do it, but as he thought, it wouldn’t be easy.
And if there really was a time limit, as the prince of the underworld revealed, they would lose Anthony. There were hundreds of things that could go wrong.
In comparison, letting the wolf boy go to the island of demons was not that bad a thing. The only problem was the mana thread attached to the guy’s head. That was the thing Damian wanted to investigate thoroughly. After an attack on Evrin, he wasn’t willing to let go of the bastard responsible either.
But Anthony was Sam’s only family.
“You attacked one of the heads of Sanctum; it is not a thing any of us will take lightly. Your organization aside, all of you daring to infiltrate will pay a high price for it. Still, I am inclined to believe you are not dumb enough to attack me when there was no backup plan for you to fall onto. I will use my spell, the Divine Seeker Chains, which will give me three questions to ask. Reply to those three honestly, and I will give you your waygate.” Damian offered.
The prince of the underworld stared at him for some silent seconds. Was he talking to whatever the other side of the mana thread was connected to?
“That disgusting spell will not touch my flesh!” Came the reply. “But I am willing to do a mana contract stating my earlier condition. Anthony in exchange for Waygate. Not killing the beastmen still alive and captured will be one of the conditions as well.”
“If you are adding conditions, so will I. You will reveal the real identity of whatever this person you referred to as the ’Bastard’ earlier is.”
Damian knew he didn’t have an upper hand in this negotiation. What Neo and this mysterious being wanted from him was a simple path to the island of demons. He could easily kill Neo, or imprison him, but searching for Anthony without the beastmen will be near impossible.
Especially when Damian knew what those thin mana threads could force a man to do. Just like that, Red Knight, if Neo’s men could also be controlled and be easily killed by this mysterious being.. They would lose their only chance to get Anthony back.
Still, neither Neo nor the mysterious being seems to know that he could see the thin mana thread. He could use that. Also, if they didn’t know that, it meant it wasn’t his intention they were aware of, but simply the magic spells he created and held with mana threads.
“Hh, Fine. If you are that eager to know, I accept the conditions.”
“Your friends will remain imprisoned but won’t be harmed. You will have your waygate to the island of demons.” Damian accepted.
Finding a person who had no mana inside and could change his appearance at will, on an island, wouldn’t be easy at all. But the lengthy conversation hadn’t been a complete waste of time. Damian had activated and held the gravity reversal spell etched on his sacrium bracelet with his mana threads.
Neo’s head had reacted slightly at the additional mana threads from Damian, but the guy or the being had not said anything about it. Damian had successfully retrieved the real ID of Neo. It was an odd one, though, written as ’NNN0000000000’.
He had not seen an ID that weird before. Still, the spell revealed it, so it had to be true. Only using it in a spell would confirm it.
Soon, Damian created the mana contract, and they both added their conditions. He won’t kill him or stop him in any way from entering the island of demons’ waygate. In exchange, Neo will tell him the name of the dungeon Anthony was imprisoned in.
Only after Damian laid eyes on the man would he open the waygate – that condition too Neo had accepted.
