Chapter 805: The Grand Opening Celebration Week 1
Chapter 805: The Grand Opening Celebration Week 1
Damian gazed upon the thousands spread across the vast green field outside the Sanctuary walls.
The setup was mostly the same as when he had changed the ruling system, announcing seven heads of the Sanctuary. Only, this time on the floating island stage, made of Blazur alloy, along with the seven heads of Sanctuary, were also the three royal family members.
The emperor and his family, the three from Faerunia and Vidalia with her mother, Ilvanya. Aside from those, the three from Highswords were given a special place to sit on the stage. Behind the stage, seven giant replicas had been placed by Damian. After tinkering with the spell a little, he had learned to shape it into other forms.
The others didn’t need to constantly power it anymore. He alone could control all seven replicas. Torvin was a mundane and couldn’t do that at all, which was the reason behind Damian’s experiment with the replica spell.
It wasn’t attached to them at all; he couldn’t copy their appearance and had to create every detail on his own. But people loved it, and Evrin specifically asked for such theatrics to pull the attention of the masses.
But it was all extra things; the main thing was the announcement everyone had come today in anticipation of.
“Citizens of Sanctuary-nobles, commoners, and friends from beyond our borders, it is a new age we have ushered in. The time of war has ended. Out of the darkness of night, now a light of a brand new day is upon us.
There was a century of peace, but that was snatched from us by the time of chaos. Now, I hope for another sanctuary of peace. But.. The time of conflict, no matter how bad, leaves behind lessons that need to be learned.
We had a century of peace, but between the first decade of that peace and the last, our whole civilization on the Mainland barely progressed at all. What steps as a whole did mankind take in that long-lasting peace? None at all. Among many other reasons, the lack of advancement in our lives is responsible for this decade of chaos.
By not learning the lessons life goes to such lengths to teach us, we repeat the mistakes of our forefathers.
But not anymore.
Sanctuary will not repeat the mistakes of our ancestors.”
Damian let the excited crowd cheer on loudly, pausing for a while, then continued,
“Everyone most likely already knows the main reason for this Grand Opening Celebration Week. The news of our Sanctum somehow always reaches the ears of our citizens.”
A wave of laughter passed through the crowd of thousands.
“Dungeons.
The coveted seats of power.
Today, we stand at the threshold of mystery. For generations, these dungeons have been treated as sealed vaults, guarded for the use of a few. But no longer.
I proclaim that from this day forth, the dungeons shall be open to all who possess the courage to enter. For within their depths lie not only danger and treasure, but fragments of unknown worlds—forgotten civilizations, the remains of ancient peoples, relics of lost craft, and the tongues of magics long silent. To confine such wonders to the hands of the few is to starve our future.
The bill has passed in secret, and the law has been set in stone.
Seven days from now, after the week of the opening celebration, anyone capable enough with the required party members can enter the hundred dungeons, which we will set up on the New Dawn island. It will remain open for as long as Sanctuary stands.”
The thunderous shouting, applause, and chanting of his and Sanctuary’s name filled the atmosphere. Once it calmed down, Damian continued,
“The only requirement for the entry is a criminal record-free Sanctum ID. Anyone who registers and has their ID cards at hand will be granted entry for a basic fee of 2 silver. There will be a detailed list of rules and regulations released later in our library channel.
There are no restrictions on nationality for the entry of any dungeon. As I said, we need the whole of mankind to push us forward. People of Sanctuary, Highswords and their Island, Eldoris, The Dragon Empire, and Faerunians. All with their unique Sanctum ID will be able to access the dungeons from the island of New Dawn.
However, do learn all the rules before entering the dungeons. Anyone caught breaking the rules will be banned from entry in our dungeons for life and will be treated as a criminal.
The opening of dungeons is just one part of the new era of Sanctuary’s quest for knowledge. The second, and perhaps more important part, is the study of these mysterious gifts of nature.
Thus, I announce the founding of a new and vast order: a brotherhood and sisterhood of scholars, explorers, mages, and record-keepers. Their charge will be to study the dungeons in every aspect—its monsters and its patterns, its ruins and its relics, its secrets and its truths. What they uncover will not be hoarded, but shared, so that all our people may grow wiser and stronger.
Let it be known: valor shall walk hand in hand with curiosity. Warriors shall not stand apart from scholars, nor peasants from lords, nor foreigners from natives. All who seek knowledge and who dare the dark shall have their place in this Sanctuary of knowledge.
The age of silence is at an end. The age of discovery begins now. Step forward, and let us together solve the riddle of the dungeons—and through it, forge a greater tomorrow.”
The minutes-long applause and chanting finally slowed down. When it did, Ghislain, the lady host of the event, took up the stage again,
“This marks the beginning of Grand Opening Celebration Week. The schedule of the five-day activities and events has just been released on the official Sanctum announcement channel.
