The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game

Chapter 386: Final Payment Settled, I'm Set to Be the Vanguard

Time passed quickly, and a month went by in the blink of an eye.

During the three survival games in that time, the Doomsday Game no longer used Qi Suian as an anchor.

At this point, Qi Suian was certain that now that the other side had a survivor protagonist, it no longer needed him to locate the Ghost World's truth layer.

However, if it didn't want him to go, then Qi Suian was determined to go.

With the World Will's guidance, Qi Suian was able to accurately locate the survivor protagonist every time, and on each occasion, he gathered a significant amount of data on taming ghosts from them.

However, the survivors had also undergone significant changes. The World Will had used ghosts to infiltrate the survivors' world, causing ghosts to appear there.

As beings of rules, the ghosts naturally couldn't be killed. They were impervious to blades, guns, fire, and water. As a result, the survivors' technological weapons were completely useless against the ghosts' murderous rampages.

So they resorted to throwing lives at the problem, trying to successfully tame the ghosts.

With such a large number of attempts, the success rate naturally increased.

As a result, many survivors successfully tamed ghosts.

And without exception, all of these successful cases were pulled into the Doomsday Game, which used them to increase the overall survival rate.

Unfortunately, the survivors were still no match for the Royal Shadow Guards in any respect, not to mention the Royal Shadow Guards didn't play fair at all, simply ganging up on them.

The survivors had changed, but not by much. Their chances of returning alive were only a little higher, and that was it.

Qi Suian had also captured a regular survivor who had tamed a ghost to perform a dissection, but since it wasn't the protagonist survivor, the results didn't satisfy him.

The data gathered from that taming process was even inferior to what Qi Suian already possessed.

Fortunately, it wasn't a total loss. The survivor protagonist's pollution resistance had reached A-rank, allowing Qi Suian to acquire A-rank Yang energy.

This pushed the progress of his Ghost Refining Technique forward by a large margin once again.

'As for S-rank... that's definitely not happening. That guy probably won't live much longer.'

'So there's no way for it to reach that level.'

'Besides, A-rank is good enough for my purposes.'

"I want Enhancement Stones, Enchantment Stones, and Refining Stones—a set of every grade." Qi Suian sat before the 'Emperor Zhiyue' and got straight to the point.

Of course, this was not the real Emperor, but the World Will.

"There are none. They've been all but destroyed."

"But I can give you the data." The World Will knew exactly what Qi Suian was thinking.

It skipped all the potential haggling and just gave Qi Suian what he wanted.

To the World Will, this was just an outdated system. Some parts might be useful, but as a whole, it had no real potential.

Otherwise, why would it have been scrapped? Even the world's current state was inextricably linked to that old game system.

The World Will's directness was just what Qi Suian had expected.

After all, it had summoned him here, which meant it was time to send him—its vanguard—to the survivors' world.

"Am I leaving today?" Having gotten what he wanted, Qi Suian didn't press his luck, instead asking this question.

"Your ghost has only just sprouted. If it leaves the Ghost World, there will be problems with the rules," the World Will said, not answering Qi Suian's question directly.

Qi Suian didn't doubt the World Will's words. It wasn't wrong; he already knew this himself.

The reason was simple: ghosts were products of the Ghost World. Leaving it was like leaving a suitable growth environment.

This was especially true for Qi Suian's ghost, which had only just sprouted from its soul seed and had not yet fully matured.

The ghosts sent to infiltrate the survivors' world, on the other hand, were all fully mature and didn't have to worry about such issues.

A newborn baby's chances of survival in the desert are not the same as a strong adult's.

The former can only hope to be rescued by sheer luck, while the latter can survive and escape on their own.

"A minor issue. At worst, its growth will be a little slower," Qi Suian said calmly.

He had already considered these issues. He wasn't worried about the rules; at worst, its growth would just be stunted.

"You're as cautious as ever," the World Will said with a smile. "But it won't be that different. Once you complete the Ghost Refining Technique, your protagonist halo will help you."

It could see that Qi Suian's protagonist halo contained an effect that would allow him to grow rapidly, it just hadn't been fully activated yet.

After all, Qi Suian had only completed the 'ghost' half of the equation, so it couldn't take full effect.

"Enough about that. Where are the things I asked for?" Qi Suian had no intention of continuing this line of conversation with the World Will.

'Once I leave the Ghost World, I'll have much more room to maneuver.'

"The things you wanted." The World Will took out four pieces of equipment, two Skill Books, and a Rhombic Crystal.

Qi Suian took them, ignoring the equipment and focusing his gaze on the Skill Books.

They were exactly what he needed: Poison Coating and Poison Burst. He used them immediately.

A vast amount of knowledge flooded into his mind, gradually filling in the foundational and advanced knowledge required for Poison Nova.

He had to admit, the World Will hadn't cheated him. Poison Coating, Poison Burst, and Poison Nova were indeed three skills in a direct line of progression.

"Is there an even higher-tier skill in this line?" Qi Suian asked curiously.

"Yes. Above Poison Nova is Super-Element Nova. However, you would need to collect a whole series of prerequisite Nova skills, like Fire Nova, Ice Nova, Thunder Nova, and so on."

"In my opinion, that would be too cumbersome for you. It's unnecessary."

"If you really want them, I'll need some time to roll back the data and create them."

"The principles are actually quite similar. The key to Super-Element Nova is balancing the elements, which is something you can figure out on your own."

"Since you have Poison Nova, you're fully capable of developing it yourself instead of just following a textbook," the World Will stated plainly.

After hearing this, Qi Suian didn't insist.

'This series of skills would certainly have their differences, but they are all techniques for using elemental energy. It's just a matter of making various micro-adjustments based on the specific energy being used.'

'Ultimately, by fine-tuning and adapting to elemental balance, you could unleash a burst—the ultimate move of the Nova series, Super-Element Nova.'

"Alright, I understand," Qi Suian replied, then used the Rhombic Crystal.

It contained the data for the three types of stones he needed. However, after a quick review, he was slightly disappointed.

'The effects were just like in a game, but they came with severe limitations.'

'For one, they only worked at maximum effectiveness within the Ghost World. On top of that, their effects were drastically reduced because the old game system had been abandoned.'

"What a shame." He couldn't possibly complete his research on the three stones in such a short time.

'It would take at least one whole world's worth of time to see any results.'

"No need to feel that way. You have three samples. While they can't be replicated, if you can successfully modify them, you can indirectly achieve their full effects through your armor."

"Especially since your armor has a solidifying effect, allowing them to be restored after use," the World Will said with a smile.

"That may be true, but I imagine the cooldown time isn't short." Qi Suian was certain that if these three stones became modules, they would require at least a year-long cooldown to regenerate.

'And you can't remove them during that time. They're single-use items. If you leave them installed, they can be restored by the solidifying effect, but if you remove them, they're gone for good.'

'So they'll have to permanently occupy three slots.'

"Everything has a price, doesn't it?" the World Will replied.

Qi Suian didn't say any more. He proceeded to install all four pieces of equipment into his module slots, along with an elemental resistance module.

His armor, now at 140 points, signified that the Tai Sui God had evolved five times.

[SSS·Star Dust Illusion Cloak]

[SSS·Void Demon's Mimicry Orb]

[SSS·Imitator's Anthem]

[SSS·Great Mage's Invisibility Scroll]

[SSS·Particulate Anti-Elemental Protective Layer]

The first four modules had a Western fantasy feel to them, providing the effects of disguise, mimicry, imitation, and invisibility, respectively.

Combined with his original modules for transformation and stealth, the Tai Sui God began to change. Its original appearance of flesh and armor morphed into that of an ordinary passerby.

If he wished, Qi Suian could even become completely invisible.

Finally, Qi Suian no longer had to walk around looking like an Armored Man, which made it impossible to be low-key.

Moreover, with the combination of multiple modules, he could transform not just into a person, but even into animals or plants.

It was like having seventy-two transformations.

"So, this is Magic?" Qi Suian asked curiously.

"No, it's not Magic. It's a manifestation of the Rules of Order," the World Will explained. "If you don't like the aesthetic, it can be changed to a Xianxia or sci-fi style."

"Don't worry about the names. As long as the effects are what you need."

The World Will looked at Qi Suian's ordinary appearance and thought he looked remarkably similar to an old acquaintance.

"The effects are a perfect fit. I assume you created these," Qi Suian said.

"These are minor details. Since you're all set, shall we get you on your way?" The World Will changed the subject, its tone implying that since the final payment had been made, it was time to carry out the mission.

"Yes, let's go. You can send me over," Qi Suian said, having no intention of refusing.

"Take this." The World Will took out an object and gave it to Qi Suian. "After you arrive, set it up according to this formation diagram."

"Either set it up before you kill the protagonist, or set it up after."

"Just don't kill him while you're halfway through setting it up. It will explode," the World Will warned.

Qi Suian didn't question this.

'For the World Will to use the word "explode," it definitely couldn't be anything good.'

"Alright. Anything else?" Qi Suian asked, wanting to know if there were any other precautions.

'This was a world invasion, not a scenic tour. I wish it would give me a thick manual of precautions to help me avoid any unnecessary trouble.'
